message from your DIVISION NEWS EDITOR What’s up, Red Bulls!

Happy March! This month, I’ll be a nervous wreck because most of my college decisions will be released.

Wish us all seniors good luck! Can you believe the term is coming to an end already? This has been such a bittersweet last term. Even though we could not get the full in-person experience that I was lucky to have for the past three, I am so proud to see how our division came together despite the difficult circumstances and all. Keep it up, Red Bulls!

Like most newsletters, I dedicated this issue to the main holiday or event of the month. As you can probably tell, this issue of the RED BULLETIN is in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, which is all about the color green (my favorite).

Hope you guys enjoy this one! And don’t forget to wear the appropriate color on the 17th to avoid getting pinched.

message from your LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR What’s Stompin’ Red Bulls!

I can’t believe there is only one more month of this term!

You all continue to impress me and I am so proud to have such hard working members like all of you. Let’s continue to the finish line and continue to work hard Redbulls!

For my Seniors, I hope this month isn’t too rough for you as college acceptances are rolling in but don’t feel discouraged as whatever path you take will be the best one for you without you even knowing it.

I hope you all enjoy this beautiful newsletter made by our one and only Angelina Vo! She puts hours into the newsletters and we greatly appreciate it when you guys take the time to read it! Thanks everyone and see you at the next DCM!

“During this hectic time, with holding club elections and just school in general, I felt that this service project was a good way to take a break from everything. The website, bean bean bean, was super easy and just something you can do to take your mind off a crazy schedule. Answering the trivia questions allowed me to take a break from my homework and earn service hours at the same time, so obviously I loved it! It is always an service project experience BeanBeanBean SP amazing when you earn hours and have fun Hannah Wong, Cathedral while you are doing it!”

“The [BeanBeanBean] website entailed us to answer easy and simple questions with the motive of earning beans to donate and raise money for charity. Looking more into the website and their mission, the beans that are raised by answering the questions correctly are converted into money which is then given to various charities.

I’m glad I was able to support these various organizations and charities and hope that my donated “beans” made BeanBeanBean SP somewhat of an impact somewhere!”

“We used Missing Maps to map areas where humanitarians are trying to help those that are the most vulnerable. It took a little bit of time to get the hang of it and sometimes it took some thinking to identify what was what on the maps, but it was all worth it knowing that the time we were putting in would help people help those in need. It was also cool seeing how many people contribute to Missing Maps! There are so many projects and Missing Maps so many people working hard Ashley Huang, RB everyday to get these places mapped.

“Our first task was to fill bags with fruit and veggies for some of the less fortunate customers around the area.

The task was relatively quick, so after we finished my mom and I were assigned to set up the shelves outside for their weekly Saturday outdoor sale.

We had to refold linens, hang jackets and trinkets, and help distribute food to the customers if necessary. Overall, I really enjoyed all of this event had to offer, and it was a great bonding Thrift Store Volunteer experience with other people as well Gowri Ramaprasad, Westview as with my mom!”

Baby Babbling Erin Chin, Westview

“For this service project, I helped the Maturity of Baby Sounds project on the website Zooniverse. I listened to 1-second baby sound clips and classified them according to the categories provided. I classified the sounds based on whether they were emotional (crying, laughing) or speech. I found this project to be very interesting and it was a unique experience. I’m glad that I could contribute to this project and help the team in their study of linguistics in babies.

Since I enjoyed this project, I hope I can do another one in the future that relates to classification!

“For our January project, we utilized the Pause For app. The app works through supporting various charities and organizations focusing in topics like hunger, the environment, and animals simply by staying off your phone.

Especially with finals this past month, Pause For was an awesome way to stay off my phone in order to focus on studying while still supporting a good cause. I would definitely use this app again looking back on how productive I was and how rewarding it felt to be able to donate meals just by using less screen time.”

“Hey everyone! My name is Anna Nguyen, and I humbly serve as Canyon Crest Academy’s Key Club President. I am beyond honored to be elected as your upcoming LTG and will strive to make your Key Club experience memorable as we continue to make an life lasting legacies on our community through service. With a focus on inclusivity, I firmly believe that together—as a Redbull family—we can take on the WORLD. We can welcome new members, reach out to all organizations in Kiwanis Family, redefine the intentions of service, listen and respect feedback/suggestions, and further develop division spirit.

9 | Introducing Our LTG Elect

The Member Recognition Program, or MRP, is program that strives to recognize dues-paid Key Club members of the California-Nevada-Hawaii district with a minimum of fifty service hours. There are four levels of recognition: bronze, silver, gold, and platinum.

For the 2020-2021 term, the Member Recognition Program applies from April 19th, 2020 to February 10th, 2021. If you are interested in being recognized for the next term, contact your club secretary for more details!
