In addition to delivering a custom feel, the Variable Set allows the instrument’s top to vibrate freely by eliminating the muting created by the fingerboard traditionally being affixed to the top.
We've been busy over this last year - very busy. After hours of researching, designing, testing and retesting, an entire new line of Michael Kelly acoustic guitars was born. The results are two new series that are at once traditional (NostalgiaTM Series) and revolutionary (VisionaryTM Series). We're confident that no matter what your preference or budget, there's a new Michael Kelly acoustic that will speak to you. Over the last two hundred years some great acoustic guitars have been produced by some of the best guitar builders in the world. Floyd Rose® tremolos are available on two of the three Hex models. Michael Kelly Guitars is proud to introduce two new guitars to the electric guitar line. The Hex and Vex represent an aggressive direction that still maintains all of the great features and “feel” of Michael Kelly electric guitars. At first glance it may not be easy to tell the two models apart. Although both models share some features like a fast/ flat neck profile these guitars take two very different approaches to shredding.
Hex The Hex features a flat top with a Michael Kelly twist - the upper and lower horns are carved like an arch top. This gives the Hex a truly custom aggressive look. Currently only the Hex is available with a Floyd Rose® tremolo. One of the most recognizable features unique to the Hex would be its six-in-line headstock.
Vex The Vex’s unique features include a beautifully arched top, an attractive three-over-three headstock and string through the body design. Also The Vex Deluxe and Vex NV give you the choice between EMG® and Rockfield® pickups. The Hybrid is the perfect stage and studio instrument because it instantly switches from full acoustic guitar tone to a ripping electric tone! Want more? The Hybrid can also BLEND both tones together creating endless variations of a two axe attack! If you are performing live with a Hybrid Special or using one in the studio you will love its dual amp capabilities. When using the Y cable that is included, the Hybrid Special sends out a signal from the acoustic pickup to one amp and the electric signal to another. Nothing can reproduce an acoustic signal like a full range acoustic amp, so this feature can really enhance your performance. You can also run directly into two channels on a mixing board for live or studio applications that will allow you to tailor the sound and maximize each tone. Don’t have two amps or a mixing board? Don’t worry. When you use a standard guitar cable on the Hybrid you get a single signal that you can plug into any amp.
