Resources Michael Harris Chancellor | Twitter Michael Harris Chancellor @ Flickr The former chancellor and professor of public and environmental affairs, business, and education at Indiana University Kokomo, Michael Harris came to the school following his tenure at Kettering University (formally known as GMI). At the Flint, Michigan, institution, Harris served as provost and vice president for academic affairs and as professor of public policy. He developed a framework to teach entrepreneurship to students majoring in different fields so that they graduate prepared to be leaders and innovators. Encouraging Kettering University to adopt a global outlook, Michael Harris entered into agreements with governments, universities and businesses in Germany, Sweden, and China and enabled the school to participate in international cooperation and research especially in regard to alternative energy. During his three years at Kettering University, student retention increased by nearly 10% and significant new programs were introduced. Former Chancellor Harris is an accomplished and recognized teacher and scholar. He is the author of approximately 40 journal publications, he has written scholarly articles such as Food Gatherers: Role of Entrepreneurship and Political Context in Sustainable Community Programs Learner-Centered Leadership: An Agenda for Action.In summer 2012, the American Association of State Colleges and Universities publication Public Purpose featured Michael Harris' vision Higher Education as a Catalyst for Regional Transformation.
