Connection Church of Libertyville (The Barn)
Lamarr K. Lark, Lead Pastor; Brenda Lark, First Lady
A Diverse Community of Authentic Believers Learning How to be More Like Jesus in everyday Life.
To Know Jesus Christ and Make Disciples of Every Generation, Every Culture, Every Ethnicity Every Economic Class.
Connection Church was planted in 2016 on farmland on St. Mary’s Road in Libertyville, IL. The property had two houses and an historic red barn in need of repair. Pastor Lamarr Lark believed the barn would make an excellent worship site -- once the horse stalls and all their scents were cleaned.
The buildings were cleaned, the fragrance became pleasant to The LORD God, thanks to partnership with Converge MidAmerica, a missional network of Gospel-driven churches.

Welcome to the cabaret, an eclec scenes and songs from our Kingdo p Ministries files, and the inspired hearts of members of our host, Connection Church of Libertyville.
Since we launched this style of programming, we ’ ve received interesting feedback from people in churchcircles. We’ve learned the word “cabaret” carries complex concepts. Sometimes spoken, sometimes written, often with a raised eyebrow.
“Cabaret?” they say? The word conjures images of the award-winning stage play or musical of the same name whose story line was set in 1930s Germany as Hitler was coming to power. The cabaret of “Cabaret” was, shall I say, racy or edgy?
Aside from fiction, “cabaret” perhaps tweaks thoughts of nightclub dancing and alcohol associated with Chicago’s gangsters of Prohibition.
Maybe “cabaret” raised visions the apostle Paul writes about frequently to first-century congregations whose members were coming to Christ. Those passages in which he’d say, “That is what some of you WERE.”
Trust me. There are just a couple of reasons we picked “cabaret.”
One, some of us in Kingdom Impact Theater Ministries have roots in musical theater and like the style of performance.
Two, we were told (by a person of that generation) that the word would intrigue more younger people than “coffeehouse.” We’re waiting.
Whatever your take, here is why we’re here and what to expect:
five original theater scenes, four written by the KIT ensemble, in which you’ll meet characters struggling to connect the Scriptures with everyday life.
songs in which we encourage you to sing along; some you’ll want to sing, others you’ll just listen. Either way, participate as you ’ re lead.
speaking of participation, there are occasional interactive moments sparked by on-screen conversation prompts or invitations from the stage; food to enjoy, prizes to win, gifts to take home.
As in a musical, the scenes and songs have a theme. Tonight’s theme: the Gospel of Jesus Christ, particularly as it relates to His Resurrection, or “Easter” as some say. Now, If our cabaret is sounding a little more like a church service, mehhhhh, could be.
But then, if life is a cabaret, as the theme song says, then maybe church could use a little more life. Or life could use a little more church.

We’re most thankful for the opportunity to bring the cabaret to Connection Church in Libertyville where KIT Ministries has been serving as musical worship and media communications consultants since 2021.
Tonight is another step in our development as theater missionaries helping church plants, and smaller and mid-sized churches share our pastoral and media experience to engage in their local communities. That engagement has included volunteer support from the congregation, and the generosity of merchants in Libertyville and surrounding communities.
The latter is particularly beneficial, for aside for inviting the community about the specific program, asking businesses, other churches and community agencies to post a flyer about an upcoming event also lets residence in the neighborhood discover the church exists, period.
