FORMULA 1 EXTENDS MIAMI CONTRACT
Formula 1 held its inaugural Miami racing event in 2022 at the Miami International Autodrome, which wraps around Hard Rock Stadium. The Formula 1 Crypto.com Miami Grand Prix has become a can’t-miss highlight of Miami’s sports calendar every May. The Miami Grand Prix recently signed a 10-year contract extension with Formula 1, securing its place on the calendar through 2041 and making it the longest-running contracted race on the schedule.

FC BARCELONA MOVES ITS AMERICAN BUSINESS OPERATIONS TO DOWNTOWN MIAMI
FC Barcelona has relocated its U.S. commercial operations headquarters from New York City to Downtown Miami. The transition was supported by a business incentive grant from the Miami Downtown Development Authority
MIAMI FREEDOM PARK SET TO OPEN IN EARLY 2026
Inter Miami CF made big waves in the soccer world when the club signed Lionel Messi in 2023. The club’s new soccer stadium will open in 2026 at Miami Freedom Park near Miami International Airport. It will be open and ready to host events related to World Cup matches at Hard Rock Stadium in summer 2026. Additional stages of Miami Freedom Park, including three hotels, multiple restaurants and entertainment spaces, will be finished by 2028.

INSTITUTE OF CONTEMPORARY ART, MIAMI (ICA) EXPANSION
The ICA, a cultural anchor of the Miami Design District, is set to expand by acquiring and renovating a nearby building on the same block as its current location, doubling its exhibition space.
The new part of the museum, formerly the de la Cruz Collection, is expected to open in late 2025.
THE REEFLINE UNDERWATER ARTS INSTALLATION

ANDAZ MIAMI BEACH

Hyatt’s Andaz brand has entered the Florida market with the opening of Andaz Miami Beach, a glamorous oceanfront hotel on Collins Avenue in Mid Beach. Guests can enjoy ocean views, Ondara Spa (opening in June), two serene pools and inventive cuisine from the José Andrés Group.

ROYAL PALM SOUTH BEACH
The hotel has closed for a $100 million renovation of all 393 guestrooms, with reopening expected in May 2026.
THOMPSON MIAMI BEACH
Opening in October 2025, just steps from the beach and Lincoln Road, Thompson Miami Beach will offer 147 luxe rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows, tropical terraces and iconic design by Rudy Ricciotti. The Brickell Key property has closed after 25 years of iconic hospitality.
A new era will begin with the debut of a reimagined Mandarin Oriental, Miami hotel and residences, set to open in 2030.

MIA had its second consecutive record-breaking year for passengers last year, with a new all-time high of 52.3M. Thanks to this growth, MIA has continued to advance in Airport Council International’s rankings of the busiest airports in the world. Because of explosive growth in 2024, its world rankings are expected to continue to climb.

PortMiami is expanding its global leadership in the cruise industry.
MSC World America launched on its first sailing on April 9 from MSC’s new, four-level, 490,000-square-foot facility, which is now officially the largest cruise terminal in the world. As one of the most anticipated new cruise ships of 2025, it offers guests a luxurious Caribbean cruise experience right from Miami’s cruise terminal.
Norwegian Cruise Line’s Aqua, the first in its Prima Plus class, set sail for the first time on April 13. Featuring attractions like the Aqua Slidecoaster, this next-generation luxury cruise ship sails to the Caribbean from PortMiami.
Virgin Voyages’ Brilliant Lady will make her PortMiami debut in November 2025. The vessel will operate 7- to 12-night voyages to the Caribbean.
The cruise industry’s version of royalty – one of Cunard Line’s elegant “queens” – will homeport in Miami to operate new Caribbean itineraries in 2025. The 2,081-passenger Queen Elizabeth will operate 33 voyages between September 2025 and April 2026.
