Manila High School celebrated Teachers' Day on October 7, 2022 with the theme “Gurong Pilipino, Dangal ng Sambayanang Pilipino” The program was attended by teachers and selected students in both morning and afternoon sessions

The pre-program, being an annual celebration, started with a Thanksgiving Mass led by Fr Edwin Hari, OSA It was then followed by the parade of teachers and administrators per department.
Mr Ely Anthony A Yusoff, Faculty Club President delivered his opening remarks in which he prepared a simple yet meaningful poem entitled ‘Guro sa New Normal’ dedicated to the hardworking teachers of Manila High School
The Grade 10 Curriculum Chairperson and Head Teacher of the English Department, Mrs Miriam N Pascua then delivered her inspirational message where she emphasized the importance of teachers and learning to students
Selected students from Grades 7-10, and a few SSG Officers performed ‘Sway’ by Michael Bublé for the ‘Festival of Dances Ballroom’
After the performance, Mr. George Luis Mandap, SSG Adviser, announced the winners of the ‘Students' Choice Awards’, one of the projects of SSG The winners were as follows: for Grade 7, Mrs Michelle Logronio, Teacher III from the Filipino Department, and Mrs Nora Pedroso, Master Teacher from the Science Department;
For Grade 8, Ms Herminia Orio, Teacher II from the A P Department, and Mr Timotheo Cadavez, Teacher II from the Science Department; For Grade 9, Mrs Nelia Amoy, Master Teacher, and Ms Joelsan Molino, Teacher II, both from the Filipino Department; For Grade 10, Ms Rachel Ann Correa, Teacher I from the TLE Department and Mr. Michael Vince Cabalan, Teacher II from the Mathematics Department; For Grade 11, Ms Vanessa M Vinluan, Teacher I Philosophy, CPAR and for Grade 12, Mr Eric Ama, Teacher I, Business Management
For the ‘Festival of Dances’, the SSG and selected students from Senior High School (SHS), performed their intermission numbers They danced to the song ‘Sway’ by Pussycat Dolls and a remix of Hip-hop Songs, followed by a poem for teachers entitled ‘You are My Star’

After the hip-hop performance of the SHS students, the ‘Dear Teacher Board’ was carried out by the officers of the ceremony, Sofia Alipio and Lorenz Ninada where students shared handwritten letters dedicated to their favorite teacher



The first half of the program ended with Mrs Jessica A Calisagan, SHS Chairperson, and A P Department Head delivering her closing remarks She stressed the thought that she hopes students would not only show their love to their teachers today but everyday
The second half of the program was continued in the afternoon The ‘Pilipino Fiesta with Balik-Alindog’ was participated by teachers only Mr John Miguel Morales, Teacher II from the English Department was the officer of the ceremony ‘Libreng Gupit’ was also offered for teachers This was sponsored by Congressman William ‘Irwin’ Tieng
The Pilipino Fiesta with Balik-Alindog also had an area called 'Pika-Pika Festival’ wherein a variety of street foods were displayed for teachers to eat and enjoy
Parlor Games and Raffles were also carried out, sponsored by the Manila High School Faculty Club, and the following; Sir Amor P Dugay (School Head), Congressman Irwin Tieng, Councilor Laris Borromeo, Councilor KATROPA sa Distrito Singko, Konsehal Mon Yupangco, Councilor Konsehal Boy Isip, Rotary Club Quirino Manila Central, Rotary Club of Manila 101, Rotary Club Supreme 198, SANCTA CAECILIA CHOIR, Zonta Club of Makati-Central Business District, Liam Sy, Murang Sabunan, Mrs Lerma Santiago, GPTA Officers, Kagawad Rocky Pagulayan, MHS Alumni Association, Mrs Nora Q Pedroso, Mr Rhoner D Alcaparaz, Mrs Roschelle Groce, and Mrs Bernadette Carpio
The Teachers' Day program ended with Mr Rodrigo Navarra Jr , Faculty Club Vice President, delivering his closing remarks
This is the first teachers' month celebration, not just in MHS, but for all schools that was held in a Faceto-Face setup since the pandemic when all programs used to be conducted online Manila High School is finally back on the ground, on-site, ready to serve its students, teachers, and other stakeholders
DepEd allows voluntary wearing of face mask in school

The Department of Education (DepEd) announced on November 1, 2022 that they will make wearing of face masks optional in school
“We will follow EO (Executive Order) 7,” DepEd spokesman Michael Poa told reporters in a text message
Previously, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr signed executive order 7 on October 28, 2022 which removed the mandatory use of face masks indoors and a month earlier, Marcos also removed the mandatory use of face masks outdoors
Despite the optional use of face masks the Department of Health (DOH) still encourages the public to still continue using face masks for public health safety
