WHO WE ARE

About

In the Fall of 2008, the community of Mahogany was established by Hopewell Residential. Shortly thereafter, Mahogany was awarded “Calgary’s New Community of the Year, 2009”. Since then the community of Mahogany continues to grow and has won “Calgary Community of the Year” for 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2022, as well as “Alberta’s Community Development of the Year” in 2014 The Mahogany Homeowners Association is a non-profit organization established for residents of Mahogany to give them the everlasting value of living in an exceptional community. The Mahogany Beach Club has three different size rooms available to rent Indoor bookings are available on a first-come, first-served basis; no holds will be accepted without a signed and completed Rental Agreement and payment.

SWIMMER (6 — 12 years)

For children aged 6 to 12 years old, our program is geared towards developing key skills and essential water safety practices,

SWIMMER 1: Beginners learn jumps into water, underwater breath control, and practice front and back floats, glides, and kicks

SWIMMER 2: Advanced beginners practice jumping into deep water, sideways entries with a PFD, surface support, and whip kick.

SWIMMER 3: Swimmers dive, perform front somersaults and handstands in water, and work on front and back crawl, and whip kick.

SWIMMER 4: Intermediate swimmers cover swim lengths of front and back crawl, whip kick, and breaststroke arms with breathing

SWIMMER 5: Swimmers master shallow dives, cannonball entries, eggbeater kicks, and backward somersaults in water. They refine 50 m swims of front and back crawl, and 25 m breaststroke

SWIMMER 5: Swimmers tackle stride entries, compact jumps, and lifesaving kicks such as eggbeater and scissor. They boost strength with head-up breaststroke sprints and lengths of front crawl, back crawl, and breaststroke.

BEGINNER SKATEBOARDING

Beginner lessons will start off slowly, allowing students to get comfortable with their skateboards as well as the skatepark Students are introduced to entry level skateboarding skills and tricks, and will build and develop their skills from there Participants will learn basic skateboarding fundamental in order to go from never having ridden a skateboard, to safely cruising around the skatepark.

This program provides an encouraging space for individuals to skate in a comfortable environment while learning the basics of skateboarding This program facilitates opportunities for those who may feel excluded in what is commonly a male-dominated scene This class focuses on skateboarding fundamentals and basic skills and tricks. Girls then progress at their own level, introducing more complex components of learning to skateboard such as ramps, skills, flatland tricks, and much more.

New skills include Manual, Shuv It, Ollie, dropping in and drop off curbs, to name a few.

This class is for the youngest riders who have never skateboarded before The emphasis is on learning and loving skateboarding through the use of fun and engaging teaching methods Beginner lessons start off very slowly, allowing students to get comfortable with their skateboards as well as the skatepark.
