WHO WE ARE About

In the Fall of 2008, the community of Mahogany was established by Hopewell Residential. Shortly thereafter, Mahogany was awarded “Calgary’s New Community of the Year, 2009”. Since then the community of Mahogany continues to grow and has won “Calgary Community of the Year, 2012”, “Calgary Community of the Year, 2013” as well as “Alberta’s Community Development of the Year, 2014”.

The Mahogany Homeowners Association is a non-profit organization established for residents of Mahogany to give them the everlasting value of living in an exceptional community. Mahogany residents live an energetic lifestyle, and are surrounded by a true sense of community spirit and togetherness.

Zumba is a fitness program that associates aerobic movements with the use of Latin rhythms. The Zumba approach introduces exercising through dance. TAI CHI WITH DENIS

Deepening the mind-body connection. Relaxation, improved health, and decreased stress are some health benefits of the practice of Tai Chi. Other areas that have seen improvement include reduced bone loss, lower body strength, help with arthritis, decreased blood pressure, balance, and stability. YOGA WITH SINÉAD

For pelvic health, Sinéad, a certified RYT-200 yoga teacher, guides you through yoga poses and breathing exercises that heighten pelvic floor awareness. Through mindful yoga and breath work, you'll strengthen and relax pelvic floor muscles, fostering a profound mind-body connection. Access extra routines on the online portal and continue practicing at home.

For healthy aging, Sinéad's gentle yoga series fosters vitality, flexibility, joint health, and balance, while reducing stress and anxiety. All backgrounds are welcome in this coed class, which is beginner-friendly and particularly suitable for those over 55.

THE LIFESAVING SOCIETY

Intermediate First Aid (the standard first aid course) provides comprehensive training covering all aspects of first aid and CPR. BADMINTON

Players will learn the fundamentals of badminton, but with a focus on techniques and footwork. Four areas of focus are racket grip, posture, racket swing and footwork. Each session will consist of 1 of the 4 areas of focus while engaging in moderate to high cardio exercises. Players will be challenged to bring the best out of themselves.

Our instructor, Mahogany's very own Phat (P-at) Ly, started his badminton journey in junior high, and went on to play for the Mount Royal College Cougars. He has won multiple city championships and also competed in the Alberta badminton series. He owes much of his success to his coaches and mentors, and now wants to pay it forward in his own community.

CALGARY SKIP AHEAD

The Calgary Skip Squad recreational skipping program is a noncompetitive jump rope program for children 6 -10 years old. Our jump rope classes give the kids opportunities to learn jump rope skills with single ropes as well as double-dutch.

CHILD SAFE CANADA

A course for responsible youth at least 10 years of age who want to become a babysitter or may already be one. The babysitter course covers the responsibilities of a babysitter, safety tips for children of all ages, first aid, mealtimes, stages of play and development, diapering babies, basic childcare skills, and what to do in case of an emergency.

Each student will receive a full colour Child Safe Canada Babysitter Handbook and completion card. When choosing a training program for your soon-to-be babysitter, trust Child Safe Canada to provide the highest possible quality of education.

Swing by the Beach Club for a Tween Night out! Hang out, meet new friends, and enjoy fun activities planned by our talented Programs Team. We have reserved the Mercado Room for those who want to play board games, listen to music, draw, or simply just hang out!

Across the hall in the Gymnasium will be sports and games such as dodgeball, floor hockey, and more. This program is FREE for Mahogany residents. Non-resident guests may attend for a $5.00 fee.
