CRAFTSMANSHIP AND THE ART OF DESIGN:

A TIMELESS PURSUIT A PROFOUND CONNECTION WITH CULTURE AND HERITAGE Craftsmanship, rooted in ancient traditions and techniques, embodies the meticulous attention to detail and the mastery of skills that transform raw materials into exquisite creations. The art of design, on the other hand, encompasses the visionary process of conceiving, planning, and executing innovative ideas that shape our surroundings and experiences. Together, they form a symbiotic relationship that celebrates the beauty of functionality and aesthetics. Curated design relates, among other things, to an intense desire for exclusivity. Art and design meet each other in a thrilling composition for the senses and all you have to do is sit tight and enjoy the experience. For every interior design project, there’s always a curated masterpiece that stands out in the whole atmosphere – now you can have yours through Covet House and its brands. Let´s meet them.

WOODWORKING IS NOT MERELY A CRAFT Covet House and its brands are renowned for their exquisite collection of luxury furniture, lighting, and accessories, curated

11

by the world’s most skilled artisans and craftsmen. These artisans employ a variety of traditional and contemporary craft techniques to create stunning pieces. According to the founders, “all the brands feature a range of meticulously crafted wooden furniture. Woodworking is not merely a craft; it is a soulful expression where each stroke of the chisel and every curve of the grain tells a story of craftsmanship, patience, and reverence for the timeless elegance of nature”. The skilled craftsmen employ woodworking techniques such as marquetry, carving, and inlay to create intricate patterns and designs on tables, cabinets, and chairs. Traditional joinery methods ensure the durability and longevity of the wooden pieces.

METALWORK IS THE ALCHEMY OF CRAFTSMANSHIP Another important skill is the use of metalwork. For Covet House, this is “the alchemy of craftsmanship, where raw steel and iron transform under the skilled hands of artisans into timeless pieces of art, embodying the strength of character and the grace of creativity”. Metal artisans at Covet House utilize techniques like forging, casting and welding to create stunning metal furniture and lighting fixtures. These techniques allow for the production of intricate designs, decorative elements,

and structural components in materials like brass, bronze, and stainless steel. One thing is certain: unique and beautiful solutions can be found here. For all types of furniture, each brand always gives a special touch.

WEAVING COMFORT AND STYLE TOGETHER The brands also offer a luxurious selection of upholstered furniture. Expert craftsmen use traditional upholstery techniques, including hand-stitching and tufting, to create comfortable and visually appealing sofas, armchairs, and ottomans. High-quality fabrics and leathers are meticulously tailored to achieve

12

a perfect fit. In the founder´s words, “upholstery is the silent artistry that turns bare frames into sumptuous seats, weaving comfort and style together”. In the hands of these talented craftsmen, fabrics breathe life into furniture, and every stitch tells a tale of craftsmanship, luxury, and enduring elegance.

ARTISANS SHAPE FRAGILE TRANSPARENCY INTO ENDURING BEAUTY “Glasswork is the poetry of light, where artisans shape fragile transparency into enduring beauty”. This is how Covet House looks at the hands of its skilled craftsmen, where molten sand becomes art, capturing the dance of colors and the brilliance of imagination, illuminating our world with grace and wonder. In fact, all the brands include glasswork techniques, such as blown glass, stained glass, and glass cutting, to craft exquisite lighting fixtures, decorative accessories, and tabletop items. These methods result in unique, artistic pieces that add a touch of sophistication to any space.

THE ORDINARY BECOMES EXTRAORDINARY Covet House showcases a diverse range of ceramic and pottery items created by its fabulous artisans. Hand-molding, throwing, and glazing techniques are some of those examples, in which each piece reflects the artisan’s expertise and creativity. Ceramics and pottery are where earth meets art, and skilled hands shape timeless elegance. In the alchemy of the kiln, clay transforms into vessels of beauty, and each piece becomes a testament to the marriage of tradition and innovation. “In the

13

hands of these craftsmens, the ordinary becomes extraordinary, and the ancient whispers its secrets to the present” says the brand.

EVERY NEEDLE AND EVERY FIBER BECOMES A BRUSH Textile and embroidery are the silent storytellers, weaving dreams into fabric and stitching emotions into threads. “Every needle and

every fiber becomes a brush, painting a tapestry of culture, tradition, and creativity”, also considering that these intricate stitches bind generations, making each fabric not just a garment but a cherished legacy of artistry. The brands offer a selection of textiles and embroidered items created using traditional techniques such as hand weaving, knitting, and embroidery. These techniques are applied to fabrics, rugs, and decorative pillows, adding texture, color, and intricate patterns to the products.

THE FINISHES ADORNING COVET HOUSE PIECES ARE NOT MERE TOUCHES Artisans at Covet House pay meticulous attention to finishes such as gilding, lacquering, and patination. These techniques enhance the appearance of furniture and accessories, giving them a unique, luxurious character. Patina, for example, adds an aged or weathered look to metal surfaces, creating a sense of history

and depth. When asked about the power and importance of this issue for the brand, the founders declare that “they aren´t just mere touches; they are brushstrokes of sophistication, whispers of elegance, and echoes of meticulous craftsmanship. Each patina, lacquer, or gilded detail tells a tale of dedication, turning furniture into art, and spaces into masterpieces. In the world of Covet House, finishes are indeed the soulful signatures of enduring beauty.” At Covet House, craftsmanship is a celebration of skill and patience. Craftsmen and craftswomen,

often honing their expertise through years of dedicated practice, imbue their work with a sense of passion and authenticity that machines cannot replicate. They put their vast knowledge in sourcing and producing exquisite handcrafting techniques, in which the human touch infuses each creation with a soul, making them tangible expressions of the artisan´s spirit. These artisans’ dedication to preserving traditional craftsmanship while embracing innovation ensures that every item at Covet is a testament to the timeless beauty of handcrafted design.

FLUFFY FURNITURE

A new level of cosiness, the rise of the fluffy chair. Sales in shaggy chairs and sofas have soared in the last few years and we are all for it. Creating comfort in the home as we know is so important, in an era of stressful surroundings. Adding fur texture, especially on large scale love seats and sofas adds a new level of Uber-comfort. When it comes to curvy furry chairs and poufy pouffes, bigger is definitely better! The versatility of fluffy furniture also may seem surprising. They sit pretty in neutral calming spaces as well as funky colourful mid-century environments. We paired the Yeti sand sofa with our Astor collection, mixing the sophisticated straight lines with the curvy shaggy sofa. Long may the cosy era continue!

Imagine the serene and picturesque archipelago on the West Coast of Sweden. With the rhythmic whisper of the waves, the crisp sea breeze, and the wild heather growing among the rocks. This tranquil landscape was the source of inspiration for Börje Thuleskär, the founder of Carpe Diem Beds. On a balmy summer day wandering the Island of Stora Kornö, Börje spread out his picnic blanket on a meadow of heather to lay down and rest. As he closed his eyes, he experienced a floating sensation and a feeling of weightlessness. Since that day, that weightless feel is found in the comfort of every bed from Carpe Diem Beds. And now, the floating sensation is a part of the design. “The Iconic Collection is an ode to the art of relaxation.”

Maison Valentina’s Symphony Freestanding is a bespoke design piece made just for this interior design project and thought to gather the décor of the living room with the bathroom. A smart and elegant way to combine the same style in completely different areas.

LIVING ROOM In a wide and bright room, the living room is one of the main areas in this opulent french apartment. Surrounded by art and romantic sculptures that call back to Ancient Greece, this space is the perfect combination of classic and contemporary, in an artistic symbiosis. In the center of the living room lays a new version of the iconic Imperfectio Sofa, this time in a chaise long. This unique design

piece shows that imperfection can be perfect, and a beautiful and artsy piece can both be aesthetically pleasing, and a comfortable place to rest. Surrounded by the Imperfectio Modular sofa, the magnificent Navarra center table is a product of the brand’s Bespoke Service. This design became part of 2021 novelties debuts. The aesthetic of the space is defined by the combination of its colors, shapes and materials. The cream tones in the textiles of the upholsteries, the gold of the brass and the earth tones of the marble bring the perfect balance and harmony to the room.

DINING AREA Following the open-concept lines of the decor, the living room transitions into the dining room, maintaining the same characteristics and aesthetic. As part of the project, the dining room is one of the stars of this elegant and artful interior design. Every piece is unique, exclusive coexisting as a masterpiece both individually and together. The different finishes are one of the features that contribute to the coherence of this interior design project, with statement pieces and timeless hues. The dining room mixes neutral tones, with black

and dark brown wood surfaces contrasting with the exquisiteness of gold brass. But what truly elevates this ambiance are the pieces that make this project a living art-gallery, comprehensive furniture that could easily be considered an iconic collectable design piece such as the imposing Empire Dining Table taking center stage with the Glance mirror and the memorable Nº11 Chair complementing this beautiful and perfectly designed area. Illuminating the dining space is the Hera Suspension Light, defined by strong and emotional paths filled with intricate details, this mythological entity is the magical inspiration behind this lighting piece. Transitioning into the kitchen area, this project debuts new pieces but also new spaces where Boca do Lobo can be present. Everything in this apartment is unconventional sharing the space with the dining room, the kitchen is open and perfectly embraces the aesthetic of this glamorous apartment. Mixing dark tones and illuminated by the gold present in the whole project, this area is not only functional but also luxurious. The main piece is the dark marble Kitchen Island with the perfect amount of gold touch and the minimalistic design, to match the dining and living room. This bespoke piece was designed to break the space and to gather all the ambiances at the same time.

MASTER BEDROOM The Master Bedroom is mainly inspired by the art pieces that the client brings from all the corners of the world, like the vintage black mirror and the contrasting rug, but the center stage it’s definitely the king-size bed. This beautiful bed is framed with the handmade black Lapiaz Headboard. This imposing design piece is inspired by the french word for ‘stone’ that when frizzed, cracks into an unexpected stunning interior revealing all the inside details. Alongside the rest area the team conceived a space to rest with two armchairs and the beautiful Liberté Fragmented Mirror maximizing the space even more. Now joining Imperfectio family, of the Brand, is a product design for the owner’s best friend, the Imperfectio Pet Bed. A comfortable pet-essential piece, particularly resistant to water and scratches. The master wardrobe design has a central lounge area with two statement armchairs, covered in brass, giving the space an authentic and luxury style. Glass doors unveil the Designer clothes collection and give the closet a feeling of bright and open space. Fulfilling this elegant room, the neutral and patterned Valencia rug from the brand Rug Society, a partner in this project, works really well in the interior design geometry and helps to bring warmth into the luxury closet needs. The time everyone spends in the bathroom is precious. This concept was the owner’s moto to build an entire efficient bathroom that looks like a private spa. With a green wall to set the mood and a bespoke bathtub by Boca do Lobo, with artistic handmade tiles, this space was perfectly designed to inspire and calm the mind. Not forgetting the sauna area that warms the space covered in luxury marble walls and floor.

THE OFFICE The reflection of personal style, passions, and aspirations of the private client is the motto for this working space. Leading into the creative room, the hallway maintains the same art gallerylike aesthetic as the entrance of the house, yet breaking the informality of it with the stunning and imposing Millionaire luxury safes with the strong and formal design. The Hera Suspension Lamp illuminates the entry of this room, and the marble floor reflects the brightness needed to balance this business yet inspiring environment.

Since this penthouse is the home of an architect, the Designers conceived this area as the main working place. The new Garrett Bookcase covers the side walls to provide the maximum storage keeping knowledge on display and bring into this space more character and formality. The center stage of the office is the Empire Desk. This imposing surface is a one-of-akind design aesthetic and refined statement that it’s illuminated by the French windows conceiving a perfect place to work.

Entering the room where work comes to life, the Design Studio created two distinctive areas according to the necessities of the client. Lounge space with an eclectic style to welcome the guests into a creative talk with the Soleil Sofa and Armchair and the outof-box Savana Rug by the Partner Brand Rug Society.

KITCHEN DINER LIGHTING Layers of decorative lighting in your kitchen diner can help with functionality as well as bring personality and style into your home.

CREATE A CENTRAL FOCAL POINT OVER AN ISLAND OR DINING TABLE More and more properties today really make the most of combining a social kitchen with a dining zone which overlooks a patio or garden. Whether it is a traditional period property or a modern minimalistic home, there are many decorative lights available to suit. Choose a light that has a metal finish that blends in with the architectural elements in the room such as brass, nickel or black door handles. Then if you have the space to create drama with a beautiful crystal chandelier or a modern LED sculptural light, this will help to bring a sparkling focus point into your room. Consider installing dimmer switches in your dining zone to enable you to create a relaxing ambience when settling down to a romantic meal or a family celebration.

ROOMS WITH LOW CEILING HEIGHT You may have a low ceiling, so choose from a large collection of decorative flush or semi-flush fixtures for this situation. Many of the pendants and chandeliers come with adjustable chain and/or rods, so in this situation they can be removed to suit these applications.

TABLE LAMPS A pair of buffet table lamps on a side dresser can add a final soft layer of light in a dining area. Table lamps are available in all shapes and can bring a pop of colour to your décor in the daytime, as well as provide a gentle light in the evening.

CREATING ADDITIONAL LAYERS Wall lights offer a great opportunity to make them functional wall art, especially with dramatic overscaled sconces. Consider accent picture lights to illuminate your favourite paintings or under cabinet lighting to create a calm kitchen ambience in the evening. The clever use of natural light from windows, reflected into the room from statement mirrors should help make the most of bright sunny days, along with beautiful soft candle light on the table centrepiece.

AN APARTMENT OF 675 M², IN SÃO PAULO, BRAZIL,

WAS RENOVATED TO ACCOMMODATE A YOUNG COUPLE WHO LIKE ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN

The 675 m² apartment located in the center of Vila Nova Conceição, in São Paulo, was completely reformed to accommodate a young couple well-informed about the latest news in the architecture and design market.

Located in a building more than 30 years old, the space had 40% of the initial house plan changed to meet the needs of the customers: total integration between the living room/home theater, dining room, and gourmet space without damaging circulation or overloading the space or layout with many parts. For this, they were helped by the architect Andrea Balastreire.

53

According to this, the living room/ home theater is the project’s main point. The clients dreamed of having a wine cellar in the apartment, and the solution found by the architect to keep the layout fluid was to adapt the drinks’ compartment to the same place as the home theater. So, it was possible to keep a good circulation space and a 360° view of the city of São Paulo. The use of a neutral background and a few points of color was thought to keep this space cool, clean, and contemporary. The cement floor in the social area was used with the Freijó wood panels so that the environment wouldn’t be so cold. One of the highlights of the space is the fireplace covered with a Neolith Sahara Noir. Since the clients are familiar with the Arq&Decor universe, they wanted the furniture to compose the environment. The living room has tall armchairs by Oscar Niemeyer and Don’do by Frau, as well as works of art by Tomie that complete the decoration of the space. The old kitchen was quite angular, so it was necessary to change all the walls. In this space, the biggest challenge was organizing the furniture, so it wouldn’t compromise circulation. According to the customers’ wishes, an island was built, which also works as a point of color in the environment, and a pantry with a round table and four chairs.

54

The lighting, executed by Labluz, was punctuated according to the layout and some walls and pieces. In the living room, for example, she followed the air conditioner to make it as light and discreet as possible. Ricardo Pessuto signs the landscape design, created based on the curved lines in the building’s architecture. The choice of aromatic species was one of the customers’ wishes, which was met through the creation of a vertical garden executed in planters adjusted to the wall in the same color as the Dondo armchair. As for the landscape design, we have the cachepots, which were originally created by Ricardo Pessuto.

ABOUT ANDREA BALASTREIRE Andrea graduated at Faculdade de Belas Artes in São Paulo and has been working with architecture and design for more than fifteen years. With an original style, her pieces prioritize the customer’s necessities and preferences, connecting comfort and beauty, allies of a unique design and style. With her specialized team, she turns wishes into reality, attending to all the technical requirements and providing cost-effectiveness. Her projects charm customers and are featured in many respected magazines of architecture and design. Andrea considers each project unique and exclusive.

56

The design of this luxury apartment centres on a linear grid of wood and marble, cutting across each other and utilising the spaces inbetween to create an interplay of light—a delicately balanced synergy of night and day.

KELLY HOPPEN INTERIORS

KAI TAK PROJECT Timeless neutrals and layered textures run throughout, with an elegant monochrome palette, luxurious Italian marble and eye-catching modern fixtures. Maximising the abundance of natural light, the concept plays with contemporary shape and form; step ceilings and walls cast shadows, adding dimension and depth. The overall result is a calming, sophisticated and multifunctional space, perfect for both indulging in moments of quiet reflection as well as for evenings spent entertaining guests.

57

Sumptuous lines and chic furnishings make for an inviting living room bathed in light. Curated combinations of sculptural tables and chairs separate the space into zones whilst maintaining a natural, effortless flow throughout. Curved sofas contrast with angular benches and plinths; subtle biophilic touches of floral arrangements, potted plants and natural art soften the overall feel. Distinctly modern additions—from central double-sided fireplaces to abstract lighting and fixtures—create a compelling contemporary atmosphere. The sharp black line of the banister ascends the staircase, leading to the master bedroom with its light neutral palette accented by textured fabrics in Kelly’s signature taupe. Hidden lighting and inset mirrors

brighten and reflect, with warm hidden lighting along the sleek, curved base of the bed and hanging glass droplet lights illuminating the bedside. Light beige oak cabinetry lines the walk-in wardrobe with a bright, window-facing marble vanity. In the master bathroom, ceramic seashells line the cabinetry as marble coalesces with soft beige and cream for a total sense of peace. Elegant simplicity reigns in the designated study space, with underlit shelving and dark leather desk furniture. The junior bedroom blends functionality and style: the sage-lined glossy wardrobe conceals a desk area, with a foldedeffect wooden stool and graffiti-style typographic artwork to add a playful touch.

MU ARCHITECTURE SUITE 201 A FAMOUS HISTORICAL SITE This captivating residential suite, envisioned by MU Architecture, derives its inspiration from the storied past of its location. Formerly occupied by Joe Beef, this erstwhile inn warmly welcomed laborers and seafarers from the bustling Port of Montreal during the mid-19th century. Revered as the “Son of the People,” this benevolent innkeeper transformed his tavern into a haven of solace and vibrant camaraderie. Suite 201, built upon these historical foundations, endeavors to embody a welcoming and convivial atmosphere.

Upon stepping inside, a vestibule grants a tantalizing glimpse of the expansive communal area through a subtly smoked glass panel. A serene ambiance unfolds within. The intricate woodwork and weathered

stone walls serve as evocative time capsules, whisking visitors away to a bygone era. Evidently, this space has admirably preserved its essence, resonating with a soulful connection to its heritage.

61

A PRIVATE TAVERN

THE EBONY BLACK KITCHEN

Centered around the concept of a tavern, the living room, artfully divided into three distinct zones, each meticulously curated with its unique ambiance and color palette, seamlessly integrates with the kitchen, ingeniously transformed into a functional service bar. This architectural fusion creates an immersive experience that effortlessly transcends the Suite’s residential essence. To elevate this concept further, the traditional dining area is artfully omitted.

Continuing the subdued ambiance, the kitchen and bar incorporate more dark woodwork, this time in a deeper shade. The black-stained wood, however, allows the grain to subtly emerge, imparting warmth and depth to the material. For a fully dramatic effect, black quartz countertops and metal panels, matching the color scheme for the hood and shelves, complete the ensemble. The metal shelves discreetly integrate ambient lighting, the source of which remains imperceptible. To counterbalance the dark and stark appearance of the kitchen, subtle curves and rounded corners introduce a softness to the volumes and facilitate movement. A brass footrest and faucet punctuate the space with an historical yet chic gleam.

The expansive open space bathes in natural light streaming through grand windows that offer a picturesque view of Montreal’s historic old port. With a simple switch, a polarizing film cleverly renders the window glass opaque, ensuring absolute privacy. The authentic stone rubble walls, echoing the area’s rich heritage, evoke a sense of history. Meanwhile, the wood-paneled ceiling exudes a refined and subdued ambiance, reminiscent of the architectural style prevalent during that era. Exquisite craftsmanship is evident in the intricate details, notably the composition of the coffers seamlessly integrating two distinct black oak finish. These elements artfully anchor the suspended shelves, showcasing the meticulous attention to architectural finesse and design ingenuity.

62

A HIDDEN WELLNESS In addition to concealing the laundry room behind one of the doors, another secret door unveils an entire relaxation area. Spa facilities, a steam bath, shower, and relaxation platforms create a perfect haven for unwinding. Indirect lighting and ceramic surfaces resembling dark stone transport us to a serene space that seems almost carved into the rock. Smoked glass panels and iroko wood accents further contribute to this tranquil and soothing ambiance.

THE MASTER QUARTERS Stepping through yet another concealed entrance, a hidden doorway opens into the dressing area adjoining the master bedroom. Ingeniously veiled behind a mirror, this portal leads to extensive walls adorned with meticulously crafted wood paneling, cleverly concealing abundant storage spaces and a discreet emergency exit. The allure of smoked glass partitions guides one towards an intimate bathroom adorned with natural, intricately detailed finishes, evoking an entrancing and soothing atmosphere.

The sleeping quarters not only house a second bedroom but also feature an additional shared bathroom. Exiting this sanctum, one seamlessly reenters the living room, completing a labyrinthine yet fascinating layout. This architectural design imbues secrecy and functionality, harmoniously blending functionality with an aesthetic allure that captivates the senses.

THE REFINEMENT OF DETAIL Crafted with meticulous precision, this project harmoniously integrates and weaves within an ancient historical building, placing intricate details at its core. Every arrangement and connection were meticulously designed to render the space elegant and refined. The selection of furniture, integration of artworks, and decorative elements breathe life into the surroundings, evoking memories of the legendary and unforgettable evenings from the era of the iconic Joe Beef.

circular economy principles, along with the optimisation of materials and resources, minimising waste and residues, are now seen by the Vicaima Group as key innovation catalysts, based on a production model with a strategy to create value with responsibility.

65

These aspects represent the Group’s focus and represent the relevant material topics in the ESG sphere resulting from a consultation process with internal stakeholders and from the definition of the Materiality Matrix.

In 2022, the Vicaima Group achieved a 15 % reduction in the tCO2e/sales emissions index, reflecting an absolute decrease of 578 tCO2e, despite the increase in production volume. These figures are the result of the implementation of energy efficiency projects and other specific initiatives aimed at reducing GHG emissions, such as investment in more efficient production equipment, production of renewable energy for selfconsumption or focus on electric mobility. All these policies and activities are part of a holistic perspective for the Organisation, based, according to the Chairman of the Board of Directors, on a “growth strategy founded on a path of innovation and differentiation, seeking a balanced social, environmental and economic dimension”.

Based on its own projects and the association with partner organisations, the Vicaima Group has been reinforcing its commitment to solidarity, environmental, safety, health and well-being initiatives, as well as to valuing Human Capital. In this last sphere, it is worth highlighting the implementation of several projects aimed at qualifying and diversifying employees’ skills, as well as synergies with the educational and academic world, with a view to promoting and enhancing youth employment. These are priorities reflecting the Vicaima Group’s identity, given that, as Arlindo da Costa Leite points out, “our path is based on a strong corporate integrity, entrepreneurship, rigour, innovation and social commitment, translating into a combination of human capital and business development”.

THE ART OF TRANSFORMING AND ADDING VALUE TO WOOD “The Vicaima Group, with a proficiency spanning more than 60 years, has always been strongly committed to the innovation and development of efficient market solutions. This vision stands in unison with the sustainable use of wood, which is at the heart of our existence,” notes Arlindo da Costa Leite. Currently, the Vicaima Group is amongst the largest private economic groups in Portugal, operating in over 36 markets worldwide and with a direct presence in Spain and the United Kingdom. Employing more than 800 people, it continuously strives to strengthen its commitment to technology, organisation, human resources and the environment.

FOUR FOUNDATION PILLARS OF AN ONGOING STRATEGY The Vicaima Group has identified four fundamental pillars in its strategy for integrating ESG issues into its business: People and Community, Climate Action, Sustainable and Innovative Products and Responsible Business.

OLIVER STEER’S TOP INTERIOR DESIGN STYLING ADVICE: Known for embracing a fusion of traditional and contemporary elements, Oliver finds joy in the harmonious integration of antique furniture and art with modern design. This not only enhances the visual appeal but also prolongs the life of these pieces, turning them into distinctive features within the overall design. Oliver’s personal style embodies a timeless, unique, and individual approach, striving

1. Avoid cookie-cutter off-the-shelf furniture Oliver says: “When it comes to furnishing a space, I always aim to avoid cookie-cutter, off-the-shelf furniture. Generic, mass-produced pieces lack the uniqueness and character that can truly elevate a room. I love to discover one-of-akind, distinctive furniture that tells a story and adds personality to the space.”

69

2. Don’t play it safe, be bold Oliver says: “Playing it safe with bland, uninspiring colour palettes is not my style. I’m all about embracing the unexpected. Selecting bold and exciting colours is my way of infusing energy and vibrancy into the design, making it an unforgettable experience for my clients.” 3. Mix and match styles, textures, and materials Oliver says: “I’m not a fan of specifying complete decor sets that make a room look like a predictable catalogue showroom. My passion lies in the art of mixing and matching different styles, textures, and materials. This approach creates an eclectic and captivating atmosphere that keeps people engaged and intrigued.” 4. Explore unconventional lighting solutions Oliver says: “Dull and monotonous lighting plans are a designer’s nightmare. I thrive on the creative challenge of thinking outside the box. My goal is to explore imaginative and unconventional lighting solutions that can transform a room into a magical and inviting space, where light becomes an integral part of the design.” 5. Stay original Oliver says: “I believe in breaking free from design clichés and overused trends. Staying true to originality is my mantra. I take pride in introducing fresh and imaginative design concepts that spark curiosity and conversation, ensuring that every project I undertake is a testament to innovation and creativity.”

THE TRUE NATURE OF DESIGN:

HORM PRESENTS THE AIRA LAMP DESIGNED BY MARCANTONIO Horm, a leading luxury furniture company that has been combining international aesthetics with influences from the world of art and culture since 1989 to create luxury designer furniture, brings the style and elegance of a timeless Made in Italy design into residential spaces, telling the true nature of design.

Exhibited “in a whisper” at Marmomac 2022, was officially presented by Horm for Salone Internazionale del Mobile 2023, the Aira lamp by Marcantonio: with Aira by Horm, Nature enters homes and gives a new image of Beauty, breaking the classic patterns of luxury. “In many cultures, the branch of a tree is always loaded with very important symbolic values related to Nature, man, and spirituality. The idea of turning a branch into a light source stems from the desire to amplify this positive valence and create a functional object that at the same time can act as a stimulus for the soul,” says the designer.

Thus the artist/designer investigates the relationship between humans and their environment, questioning the concept of what is original. The Aira lamp breaks into the domestic walls and resonates with the deepest part of the individual; it becomes a symbolic representation that allows one to connect with the archetypes and spiritual energies proper to the natural world, proving to be a source of stimulation for human imagination and knowledge.

The tree in mythology, religions, and common knowledge represents the symbol of life, the world, and knowledge. For the Celts, the tree branches represent the web of life and its knots the events that mark it: just like the tree, humans must face numerous obstacles in their daily lives and overcome them in order to grow, to improve. Marcantonio is an artist before he is a designer: objects must dialogue with people, communicate, not just be designed for a function.

While opposites attract, if you love your flooring, it’s best to keep a little distance between them. At Stroolmount our Protect & Care range of specialist protection features a heart sign. This symbolises the care needed so that when flooring and furniture cosy up together, they don’t rub each other up the wrong way: only scrapes, scratches and scars can come of that. BOLDSTONE SCULPTURE

Founded in 1998 Boldstone Sculpture has worked with local and international interior and garden designers, architects and property developers. We have worked on large scale projects as well as small individually created commissions for private clients.

Boldstone has created their own original range of designs primarily focusing on wall sculptures with the name of Boldstone Sculpture. We are now in the process of extending our range of art objects to include printmaking as well as photographic prints, high quality Giclee prints and paintings on canvas and board with bronzes in the pipeline! Inspiration for our artworks comes from the observation of pattern in nature and the interpretation of pattern in the interaction of light and shadow, colour, line, form and texture. Themes are developed using differing mediums and materials expressed in sculpture, drawing and painting.

We like to think that every sculpture and artwork produced by Boldstone focuses on craftsmanship, attention to detail and experimentation with a combination of skill and artistic narrative. Our artworks are handmade using different materials which allow for individual variation such as a polished sheen, rustic patina, pigments and metallic finishes. Boldstone’s wall sculptures and artworks are adaptable to a multitude of settings, whether that be a modern urban loft, a chic office space, a tranquil residential living room or a grand hotel lobby and spa. They have the ability to transform any environment, adding a touch of elegance and intrigue, leaving a lasting impression on those who encounter them. Boldstone is committed to sustainability and wherever possible uses eco-friendly materials. We are dedicated to the responsible use of resources and aim to create art that not only enhances spaces but also respects the environment.

Boldstone thrives on bringing a client’s unique vision to life. We collaborate closely with clients to create bespoke wall sculptures tailored to specific spaces, themes or concepts. Whether a signature piece for a corporate headquarters or a series of sculptures for a luxury residence we create drawings and storyboards to help work with you to realise your idea. If you are interested in a private viewing or a presentation or discussing a specific project please email us to start the conversation. We have been privileged to work with many clients at all scales over the years and enjoy participating in creating artworks suitable for public and private spaces, gardens and interiors. Our studios are based just outside Bath in Somerset.
