CONTEMPORARY COUNTRY HOUSE, CALLENDER HOWORTH

Callender Howorth undertook the complete renovation and interior design of a 6,000 sq. ft. neo-Georgian house in the Buckinghamshire (UK) countryside.

The property was stripped back to the brickwork, allowing the studio to comprehensively reconsider the interiors, finishes and detailing throughout.

The commission encompassed the full interior architecture and design of the house, together with the specification and supply of all furniture, lighting, accessories

and styling. Conceived as a complete turnkey project, the house was fully installed before handover, enabling the clients to move in with only their personal belongings.

The brief was to create a luxurious and elegant family home with a strong sense of energy and individuality. While the interior responds to the proportions and architectural character of the neoGeorgian property, the scheme avoids a conventional countryhouse aesthetic. Bespoke elements, expressive lighting and carefully selected finishes introduce a more contemporary and playful character.

A major focal point is the customdesigned glass chandelier in the entrance hall. Created specifically for the scale of the space, the installation comprises individually made glass globes developed in collaboration with a specialist glassblowing workshop outside London. Callender Howorth worked closely with the makers to refine the colour, texture and visual quality of each element, ensuring that the completed piece had a distinctive identity and responded directly to the wider interior scheme.

Bespoke craftsmanship informed the project throughout. Finishes and materials were sourced internationally, including custom stonework, handmade doors and specially selected ironmongery. These elements were developed as an integrated part of the interior rather than treated as decorative additions, giving the house a consistent level of detail across its principal rooms and private spaces.

The upper floor includes a dedicated cinema designed for a client who regularly entertains.

Callender Howorth collaborated with an audio-visual specialist to create a fully immersive cinematic environment, integrating the technical requirements into a comfortable and refined interior.

Custom cinema chairs automatically adjust in response to the user’s height and incorporate illuminated cup holders. Upholstered in soft chenille, they bring a residential quality to the room while retaining the functionality and performance of specialist cinema seating. The combination of tailored furniture, integrated technology and acoustic planning creates a private screening room suited to both intimate family use and larger gatherings.

The completed house combines the formality of its neo-Georgian architecture with contemporary furniture, specialist craftsmanship and moments of visual character. Every aspect of the property, from the architectural finishes to the final styling, was considered as part of a unified design, resulting in a highly personalised country home that is elegant, comfortable and designed for entertaining.

THE MAKING: CRAFT, CULTURE AND THE SOUL OF A SOFA

Sofas & Stuff’s partnership with the Royal Ballet and Opera reveals a shared belief in artistry, individuality and the enduring value of the maker’s hand.

For Sofas & Stuff, furniture has never been simply a question of shape, fabric and function. At its best, a sofa carries something of the people who choose it, the hands that make it, and the life that will unfold around it. This belief sits at the heart of The Making , the first campaign created as part of the brand’s new partnership with the Royal Ballet and Opera.

The collaboration brings together two worlds that may seem distinct: the theatre of ballet and opera, and the intimacy of furniture made for the home. Look closer, and the

connection becomes clear. Both depend on imagination, discipline, specialist skills and many hands working towards a single moment. Both understand that excellence is never accidental.

For Andrew Cussins, Founder and Design Director of Sofas & Stuff, supporting the arts is part of the company’s identity. Opera and ballet weave together music, performance, costume, set design and storytelling; furniture making has its own choreography of skills, from frame builder and pattern cutter to sewer, upholsterer and finisher.

With TheMaking , Sofas & Stuff has worked with consulting costume designer Hannah Edwards to create four one-of-a-kind pieces inspired by much-loved stories from Royal Ballet and Opera productions:

Swan Lake, Carmen, La traviata and TheSleepingBeauty. These are not literal translations, but imaginative responses. Feathered chairs explore the duality of Swan Lake. A frill-adorned red velvet sofa captures something of Carmen’s heat and force. A white linen piece with camellia details reflects the emotional world of La traviata An embellished chaise carries the enchantment of TheSleepingBeauty

What the pieces reveal is the breadth of creativity within Sofas & Stuff itself. Fabric, colour, texture and detail are not finishing touches. They are how a piece begins to take on character, changing the mood of a sofa, the feeling of a room and the way a home reflects the person who lives there.

That idea is central to the Sofas & Stuff way of working. Every made-toorder sofa begins with conversation and choice, then is made by hand in the company’s Preston workshop, where years of specialist knowledge sit behind every cut, seam and adjustment.

Pieces from TheMaking will be shown during the campaign in Sofas & Stuff’s London showrooms in Chelsea, Islington and Richmond, inviting visitors to see the detail and craftsmanship up close. Ultimately, TheMaking shows what Sofas & Stuff has always believed: that homes deserve individuality, craft carries feeling, and the most meaningful objects are shaped by imagination, care and human touch.

SCHMIDT LEADS THE RISE IN CURVED DESIGN – LEAVING STRAIGHT LINES BEHIND FOR SOFTER, MORE HARMONIOUS INTERIORS

Once synonymous with the architecture of the 1930s and the flourishes of Art Nouveau and Art Deco, curved lines are making a striking comeback in interior design.

More enveloping, more organic, and unmistakably elegant, curves bring a new sense of flow to living spaces. True to its vision of interiors that are both beautiful and built around real life, Schmidt has been championing this shift since 2025, bringing curved design into every room of the home through spaces where form and function move as one.

Drawing on its French craftsmanship and deep expertise in bespoke design, the brand creates interiors that adapt to any layout. Kitchen, living room, dressing room or bathroom: the curve becomes the defining thread, connecting spaces into something cohesive, refined, and entirely personal.

An artistic vision of design, in collaboration with Lemon Studio

In its collaboration with Lemon Studio, Schmidt explores a particularly sophisticated interpretation of the curve. Rooted in the language of Art Deco and Art Nouveau, this space plays with sculpted volumes, sinuous lines, and

layered perspectives to create an atmosphere that sits somewhere between interior architecture and art installation. Sky blue tones, deep browns, and touches of gold work in dialogue with noble materials and enveloping forms — striking, yet with an underlying softness. A statement project that shows how bespoke design can turn an interior into a fully immersive aesthetic experience.

Curve Collection: curved design as a whole-home signature

With the Curve Collection, Schmidt makes the arc a design statement in its own right. In an interior built around deep bordeaux tones, an open-plan kitchen flows naturally into the living space, anchored by gently curved TV units and bookcases. The language of the curve continues through to the bedroom with a Peach dressing room in warm, soft hues, and into the bathroom where rounded volumes create an immediate sense of comfort and calm. More than an aesthetic choice, curves here actively shape the way a space feels; easing movement, softening sightlines, and drawing each room into a natural conversation with the next.

With Firenze, Schmidt offers a more contemporary, mineraltoned take on curved forms. A generously curved central island becomes the centrepiece of this kitchen, where warm wood meets the quiet luxury of travertine. Soft lines contrast subtly with the richness of the natural materials, composing a space that feels both sophisticated and welcoming. A true demonstration of the brand’s bespoke expertise, Firenze shows how custom design can balance beauty, warmth, and spatial intelligence — all while responding to a growing desire for interiors that feel more fluid and more calming.

Across these projects, Schmidt demonstrates its ability to translate emerging design trends into interior solutions that are elegant, practical, and built to last. By softening volumes, improving flow, and adding an emotional dimension to a space, curved lines have become one of the defining signatures of contemporary home design. A trend the brand continues to reinterpret through its bespoke expertise and French craftsmanship — creating interiors that are unique, considered, and made to endure.

GIORGETTI 2026 COLLECTION DEBUTS IN LONDON

After its presentation at Milan Design Week in April and its New York debut at ICFF in May, the 2026 collection arrived in the heart of Chelsea. The Giorgetti store in London is set to be transformed into an exceptional showcase to welcome the latest offerings, reaffirming the strong connection with the British capital.

The new collection has a very precise vision: objects different in form and function, united by a subtle thread of references, details, and aesthetic codes that engage with the brand’s heritage, renewing it whilst clearly affirming the values that have defined its identity for 128 years.

Manufacturing excellence, rediscovery of age-old craft techniques, and cultural contamination thus merge into a universal language without losing their own voice. New designs arise from the meeting of different but deeply related visions: Giorgetti renews its collaboration with HBA (Hirsch Bedner Associates), welcomes the design sensibility of Outin.Design, and continues the path shared with Maserati through the second chapter of the Giorgetti Maserati Edition collection.

The layout on the two levels, which covers a total area of 400 square meters, was designed by Creative Director Giancarlo Bosio: an interpretation of the collection’s new additions within the Giorgetti lifestyle through environments with a distinctive character. Rounding off the project is the visual language of the new Places to Live campaign, which takes shape in the window display and on an interior wall adorned with polaroids taken from

this year’s images and those from past editions, creating a visual archive that tells the story of the brand’s identity over time.

Crossing the entrance, the space opens with a dining area where Rossella Pugliatti’s Hug armchair and Adam Tihany’s Host trolley, two Giorgetti icons, surround the new Yuan table, designed by Outin. Design, in a round version with a Dover White top and sculptural L-shaped legs in Antichi Impasti Romani®, an ancestral material reinterpreted in a contemporary key by Giorgetti. The design draws inspiration from the age-old ritual of the tea ceremony, evolving naturally into a new culture of togetherness: a space designed to welcome, share and make conversation an integral part of the domestic experience. Made exclusively from selected natural materials, the impasto is created using a layered process: an initial base inspired by the mixtures of ancient Rome, which consolidates

the substrate, followed by a fresco process that deeply integrates pigment and material.

Chosen to accompany the table, HBA’s Kumiki accent chairs in solid Canaletto walnut take their name from the traditional Japanese carpentry technique based on real joints. In fact, every seat joint is visible and authentic. The structure draws formal inspiration from the Japanese Torii, with soft curves and a continuous interplay of narrowing and widening sections.

Completing the area is the Hikari cabinet, also by HBA, and objects from the Atmosphere collection such as the Water lamps, Floema plates, and the new Marianne tea set, which draws inspiration from a reinterpretation of the pure forms of the Bauhaus, where essential geometries such as spheres, circles, and semicircles become the starting point for an object that combines rigor and material sensitivity.

The display on the left brings to life the scenic modular sofa Nereide from the Giorgetti Maserati Edition Collection, with its new chaiselongue and coffee table elements, flanked by the irregularly shaped Kumiki armchairs and Fragmentum occasional tables, designed for both indoor and outdoor living. Adding a touch of elegance to the space, the 2026Atmosphere collection features the Volteggio carpet, the Quetzal and Highrise lamps— which interpret light as an architectural presence—and the Double Trap board game, in Canaletto walnut and methacrylate. Completing the living room is an important kitchen area with the GK.03 project and Ode stools.

The display on the right showcases a warm and enveloping living room, where the Lorelei sofa and armchairs blend harmoniously with the Galet coffee table, the Highrise floor-standing lamp, and the En

Passant travel chessboard, before giving way to the Nereo foosball table, the result of meticulous research, where aesthetics and function intertwine with sartorial precision, transforming the act of play into a ritual of style. From the ash wood frame with grain running in opposite directions, to the smoked glass panel, the Canaletto walnut knobs with the cup-shaped design characteristic of Maserati, right through to the leather doors with laser-engraved detailing that molds to fit the ball.

This is followed by a second dining area that features the Floria table with Calacatta marble top, the result of a collaboration with PierreYves Rochon, surrounded by the Elisa accent chairs, with welcoming shapes and contemporary lines, along with the Upward lamp. The basement of the store has also undergone a major renovation: a journey that begins with a study

featuring the Erasmo desk with the executive bergère chair and the Aphira guest chairs, by Giorgetti Maserati Edition, versatile seats suitable for the office, a meeting room, or for dining, available in four configurations depending on the setting.

The monocoque structure, which characterizes them, reveals stylistic ribbing on the leather back that is reminiscent of the automotive world. New additions to this area include the Flines carpet and the Quetzal table lamp.

The office overlooks a first living room with the Seidon sofa, the Ligea side tables and armchairs, and the Yuan coffee table, enriched by the Libra lamp and the Blow sculpture. The second large and cozy living room with the SoHo sofa and Clori armchair is enhanced by the inclusion of the Progetti Silky accent chairs, the first chapter of Tribute to Icons—the project through which Giorgetti launches a series dedicated to the contemporary reinterpretation of its most iconic products. Not a nostalgic look at the past, but a reinterpretation that treats it as living matter, to be explored through new design languages and sensibilities. The protagonist of this fifirst chapter is the Progetti, a historic 1987 armchair reinterpreted by Carlo Colombo.

The sleeping area is wrapped in Hanani wallpaper for a dreamlike atmosphere and is developed with the Karphi Nap bed and Delphi nightstands, which open to a large walk-in closet with Reiwa and the vanity area with Edward and Annette seating.

Finally, a selection from the Open Air collection, designed for outdoor living, inviting you to experience outdoor spaces with the same sophistication as indoors: the Moorea sofa with Loop chairs, Aldìa coffee tables, Nisida rugs and cushions, and Kromis low table.

Complementing the exhibition, artworks selected in collaboration with Pontone Gallery—a returning partner—and Everard Read—a new addition to this initiative— accompany visitors throughout

the store. On display are works by Mark Rautenbach, a South African multimedia artist, and sculptures by William Peers, in a dialogue between design and art that has always been part of the brand’s identity.

PEARL TABLE DUFFY FREEZES A FLEETING MOMENT OF MOTION IN SCULPTURAL MARBLE

London-based design studio Duffy has unveiled the Pearl Table, a sculptural coffee table that freezes a fleeting moment of motion in solid marble.

Conceived as a piece of artfurniture, the table explores the physics of fluid motion through marble, transforming water’s ephemeral energy into a permanent, tactile form.

The design emerged from an extended period of experimentation, during which the studio studied the behaviour of water when disrupted — observing ripples, splashes and wakes as solid objects skim and collide across its surface. These investigations formed the foundation for the Pearl Table’s distinctive, flowing geometry.

From this process, a narrative took shape: a pearl diver on a quiet, white-sand island, skimming his

finds across shallow water. In that fleeting, playful act, a precious object momentarily loses its value, becoming a simple toy — a spark of delight as it ricochets across the surface. The Pearl Table captures this precise instant, suspending the pearl at the point of impact as waves radiate outward in concentric motion.

Carved from natural marble, the table is composed of three sculptural elements that articulate the stages of displacement and ripple as energy travels away from the point of force. The use of marble grounds the piece in material permanence, echoing the geological formation of the pearl itself — ancient, organic and inherently unique.

Each table is individually crafted from carefully selected Italian and Portuguese marble, with every surface carved to echo the fluidity of water in motion. While undeniably expressive, the Pearl Table functions as a coffee table, designed to anchor

a space as both a practical object and a sculptural focal point. Bespoke sizing and material options are available, allowing the piece to be tailored to its setting.

Christopher Duffy, Founder and Chief Designer of Duffy, describes the project as a return to an enduring fascination with water: “It’sbeenfifteenyearssinceour lastwater-inspireddesign,the Abysscollection, whichexplored theperfectionofstillwater. With the Pearl Table, we wanted to examinewhathappenswhenthat

surfaceisdisrupted—studyingboat wakes,skimmingstonesandthe dynamicshapesformedasobjects cutthroughwater.Capturingthe ricochetofthepearlwasexciting notonlycreatively,butalsofroman engineeringperspective.”

To realise the complex geometry, the studio expanded its technical capabilities, combining traditional craft with advanced manufacturing. “Weusedfive-axisCNCmachining to wrestle the marble into these extremeformswithoutrisking fracture,” Duffy continues. “I love mixingancientmaterialswithnew technology, andhavingagenuine engineeringchallenge—thispiece offered all of that and more.”

The Pearl Table is made to order, reinforcing its status as a collectible design object rather than a massproduced product.

PETER REED × SAVED NY: A TRANSATLANTIC COLLABORATION IN MODERN LUXURY

Peter Reed Linens and SAVED NY announce an exclusive capsule collection that unites two worlds of craftsmanship: Peter Reed’s century-old expertise in fine embroidered linens and SAVED NY’s modern, heirloom-quality Mongolian cashmere. Together, they present a refined vision of contemporary luxury shaped by heritage, texture, and narrative design.

Crafted at the historic Butterworth Mill in Lancashire, Peter Reed linens reflect generations of artisanal mastery from the handling of premium cottons to the precision of hand-guided embroidery. SAVED NY, known for collaborations with artists and creatives, brings a modern sensibility that transforms traditional cashmere into contemporary heirlooms.

The collection features three signature embroidery motifs inspired by the storytelling and artisanal designs of SAVED NY’s blankets, all made to order in England:

• Pearls in White (1071) on white 300 thread count sateen.

Peter Reed × SAVED NY String of Pearls Embroidered Bedding is crafted in England from crisp white 300 thread count cotton sateen, finished with hand-guided “String of Pearls” embroidery in White (1071). Executed at the historic Butterworth Mill in Lancashire, the embroidery forms a delicate strand of pearls that gently travels across the surface, breaking apart at the edges into soft, irregular spacing.

Inspired by the tactile poetry and subtle asymmetry found in SAVED NY’s Mongolian cashmere designs, the motif evokes movement, lightness, and restraint rather than formal symmetry. The result is an elegant contemporary heirloomrefined, expressive, and rooted in British linen craftsmanship with a modern New York sensibility.

• Cornucopia in Gold on white 260 thread count percale.

Peter Reed × SAVED NY Cornucopia Embroidered Bedding is crafted

in England from crisp white 260 thread count cotton percale, prized for its cool, breathable hand and tailored finish. The design features hand-guided Cornucopia embroidery in Gold, executed at the historic Butterworth Mill in Lancashire.

The cornucopia - SAVED NY’s emblematic logo -appears as a refined, symbolic motif, referencing abundance, craft, and continuity. Rendered in warm gold thread, the embroidery is framed by a subtle embroidered border that brings structure and balance to the composition, echoing classical bed linen detailing with a contemporary restraint.

• Calligraphy in White (1071) on white linen.

Peter Reed × SAVED NY

Calligraphy Embroidered Bedding is crafted in England from pure white linen, chosen for its natural breathability, soft hand, and relaxed elegance. The design is finished with hand-guided Calligraphy embroidery in White (1071), executed at the historic Butterworth Mill in Lancashire.

The calligraphy motif is based on a calligram originally developed for the SAVED NY Andrew Blanket, where language becomes form and ornament. Translated into embroidery, the design unfolds as an intricate, flowing composition— at once graphic and delicate, framed by a refined embroidered border that recalls classical linen detailing.

“ANY SIZE, ANY COLOUR”

MIAMI-INSPIRED BAR, HILL HOUSE INTERIORS

Hill House Interiors designed this private bar for clients who divide their time between Surrey and Miami. The brief was to bring the colour, energy and sociability of Miami into their UK home, creating a distinctive entertaining space suited to both intimate drinks and larger gatherings.

The illuminated rose quartz bar forms the centrepiece of the room. Its translucent stone surface is combined with a bespoke textured bronze finish and malachite detailing, creating a richly layered focal point. The rose quartz was selected not only for its colour and luminosity, but also for its association with love and positive energy, reflecting the convivial purpose of the space.

The seating layout was planned to support different forms of entertaining. A sweeping chaisestyle sofa is paired with green swivel chairs and upholstered bar stools finished with decorative fringing. The arrangement allows guests to gather in smaller groups while maintaining a clear relationship with the bar and the wider room.

A custom Wendy Morrison rug anchors the seating area. Its design incorporates cheetahs, zebra pattern, palm trees and tropical colours, introducing a playful visual narrative while connecting the furniture and decorative finishes across the scheme.

Above, a gold-leaf coffered ceiling emphasises the architecture of the room and reflects warm light across the interior. The metallic ceiling, illuminated stone, patterned rug and saturated upholstery combine to create a layered composition of colour, texture and pattern.

The completed space balances Miami-inspired exuberance with the precision and detailing of a bespoke British interior. Designed specifically around the clients’ lifestyle, it provides a flexible and highly individual setting for cocktails, parties and informal entertaining.

We collaborate with London’s leading designers to create refined, fully bespoke fitted furniture—precisely tailored to elevate every space.

Working in premium materials and finishes, we combine precise craftsmanship with a collaborative approach—ensuring every detail, proportion, and finish aligns with your design intent.

HOW CAN WE LIVE WITHIN THE LANDSCAPE? DISCOVER THIS NEW RESIDENTIAL PROJECT BY ENTRE QUATRE MURS

At the edge of a wooded property in Mirabel, the Du Corail Residence settles into its surroundings with deliberate restraint. This contemporary single-family home of more than 7,700 square feet (715 m²), designed by Montreal-based studio Entre Quatre Murs over four years of development, emerges from a careful reading of the site and an attentive listening to those who would inhabit it.

A STAGED COMPOSITION ACROSS THREE LEVELS

The interior architecture orchestrates a succession of volumes conceived as a journey. Perched like a belvedere above the main floor, the mezzanine offers its owners a private retreat, punctuated by carefully chosen views into the canopy. The lower level, treated with the same

exacting standards as the floors above, hosts leisure spaces, the teenagers’ quarters, and guest accommodations, benefiting from a rare visual openness thanks to the natural grade of the terrain. Between these two poles, the expansive open-plan main floor brings together the living room, kitchen, and dining area beneath an envelope pierced by generous bays. Natural light, filtered through these wide openings, becomes a material in its own right within the project.

A suspended staircase, lightened by a glass balustrade, runs through the three levels like a spine. Its apparent weightlessness allows light to flow freely from one floor to the next while preserving the transparency of the living spaces.

A MATERIALITY OF PLACE

The selection of materials anchors the residence within its mineral and forested context. Natural stone extends seamlessly from the

exterior envelope into the interior spaces, establishing a strong visual continuity with the character of the site. Omnipresent across ceilings, floors, and built-in millwork, wood instigates an organic dialogue with the surrounding forest and warms each volume of the home. Durable, and possessed of an evolving beauty, these materials sustain a biophilic approach, carried by generous openings onto the landscape. The residence also follows a bioclimatic logic, favoring passive solar gains and natural ventilation.

A KITCHEN AND ITS SCULPTURAL WINE CELLAR

Designed bespoke with the owners, the kitchen layers pale grey cabinetry, natural wood, and black accents, illuminated by pale quartz countertops. Fully glazed, a corner wine cellar marks the transition between kitchen and dining area, extends the openness of the main living plateau, and becomes one of the project’s signature architectural gestures. Far from a simple storage element, it acts as a sculptural volume in its own right, presenting the bottles like a domestic library.

A LOGIC OF THE BESPOKE

This bespoke approach unfolds throughout the entire project. Custom walk-in closets, integrated furniture, vanities drawn specifically for their users, backlighting that modulates the atmosphere across the course of the day — each detail responds to a precise use, identified through ongoing exchanges with the inhabitants. The result is a coherent living environment in which form embraces habit and functionality aligns, without compromise, with aesthetics.

AN INTELLIGENCE OF SPACE

Conjugating subtlety and presence, the Du Corail Residence bears witness to an intelligence of space measured by its capacity to welcome life in all its diversity. The project embodies Entre Quatre Murs’ conviction that an interior is never reduced to its visible surface: it is a framework built to support, accompany, and reveal the lives of its occupants.

RESIDENTIAL DESIGN: SHORTLISTED AT THE BIID INTERIOR DESIGN AWARDS 2026

For five years, the British Institute of Interior Design (BIID) has celebrated the best of British and International interior design through its annual awards programme, recognising excellence across both commercial and residential design. This year’s shortlisted residential projects highlight how designers are creating contemporary homes which balance beauty with function.

NATALIA MIYAR ATELIER – A CHROMATIC TOWNHOUSE

Originally a Grade II listed late Georgian terraced townhouse, this project sensitively restored and reimagined the space as a contemporary family home. The brief called for interiors that felt

distinctive yet relaxed, supporting everyday living while respecting the building’s historic architecture through rich colour and layered textures.

Natalia Miyar Atlelier refined the existing layout to improve circulation and functionality, balancing preservation of the building’s historic character with contemporary residential needs. The design promotes wellbeing

through prioritising natural light, while practical elements such as integrated storage and bespoke joinery maintain aesthetic cohesion and functionality.

Curved joinery and softened forms counterbalance the linear geometry of Georgian interiors, while saturated tones define character and atmosphere, highlighting architectural features. By focusing on the retention and repair of historic fabrics, reinstating and enhancing the property’s original features, the restoration was able to preserve the building’s character, while introducing a new, usable, and visually striking element.

RON DESIGN / ARTICIOUS CO. LTD – TOKYO URBAN HOUSE

A reinterpretation of a 40-yearold reinforced concrete residence in Tokyo, this project strips away elements to create a renewed urban house inspired by travel. The design preserves the existing structure while reconfiguring the interior layout to support modern lifestyles and enhance spatial quality, atmosphere and everyday life.

The second, third and fourth floors are dedicated to family life, with living and dining positioned on the fourth floor to take advantage of rooftop access and create a bright living environment. Bedrooms and bathrooms on the lower floors provide calm private spaces, while the basement combines a man cave and guest bedroom.

Originally a recreation room, the basement was reorganised by rationalising services, water facilities and air-conditioning. Existing beams, rather than being concealed, were incorporated into the design to generate rhythm and depth, forming an intimate retreat conceived as an extraordinary lounge.

YAM STUDIOS - NORTHSHORE

A bespoke new-build on Hayling Island, Northshore comprises a main house, beach house and annex designed as a family home capable of hosting large gatherings while offering private spaces for quieter moments. The project evolved from refurbishment into a full rebuild to address the condition of the original house.

Wood is finished in a subtle whitewash throughout, allowing light to fill the spaces while retaining natural warmth. Furniture plays a key role in creating intimacy within the interior, with forms such as a pebble-shaped dining table and curved seating introducing a warmth and maintaining a sense of volume. In the master bedroom, a half-height wooden wall with vertical slats anchors the bed while maintaining uninterrupted sea views. The design balances large-scale spaces with warmth and usability, creating a home suited to both daily life and family gatherings.

THE ART OF OPEN-AIR LIVING

PEDRALI NEW COLLECTIONS REINTERPRET OUTDOOR LIVING WITH QUALITY DESIGNED TO

Increasingly conceived as spaces dedicated to well-being and conviviality, outdoor areas take centre stage during the summer season.

LAST

Pedrali, 100% Italian manufacturer rooted in outdoor furniture, has been offering versatile solutions since 1963, reimagining open-air living through innovative materials and timeless design. Made with high-quality materials, Pedrali outdoor collections guarantee resistance to weathering, salty sea air and sunlight, easy maintenance and durability over time.

Customisation also plays a key role. Well-being and longevity emerge as guiding principles, shaping spaces and furnishings designed to endure

and to elevate the quality of life outdoors.

Following these trends, during Salone del Mobile.Milano 2026, Pedrali unveiled its latest outdoor collections, reaffirming the importance of experiencing and enjoying open-air spaces. Whether by the pool of a Mediterranean villa in natural stone, in the solarium of a contemporary boutique hotel or on an urban terrace, Fibra, the outdoor collection designed by AMDL CIRCLE, evokes a sense of calm and understated elegance.

Fibra is an industrial product distinguished by an architectural approach: a collection of daybeds conceived to bring outdoors the same sophistication, warmth and attention to detail that characterise indoor furniture. The key element of Fibra is the solid wood legs. Their shape – almost like a large wooden peg – fits sculpturally into the extruded aluminium frame.

Comfort has a key role in the design of Fibra. More than a simple sun lounger, it is a true daybed that can transform from a single into

a double version. The collection is completed by a set of coffee tables in different sizes, characterised by the same wooden leg of the daybed.

Libre, designed by Eugeni Quitllet, is a seating collection that interacts naturally with the human body and the surrounding space. In Libre, form and function revolve around ergonomics, ensuring maximum comfort within a compact well-proportioned monoblock collection. As the designer explains: “My intention is to give this design the lightness of air, with a style capable of existing naturally in any space: sientate LIBRE, sientete LIBRE”. Libre collection includes a monoblock side chair and armchair in polypropylene, whose seat and backrest appear as two distinct elements, precisely set within a fluid and harmonious frame. The soft shapes and organic lines of Libre recall the language of traditional bentwood seating, reinterpreted in a contemporary way: the rounded geometry of the seat and backrest recalls the softness of an upholstered pad, while maintaining the material honesty. The integrated openings, while echoing this formal heritage, also ensure aneasy grip from different angles.

Nuova Guinea, the outdoor seating collection designed by Cazzaniga Mandelli Pagliarulo, finds its perfect place in the open air, along the seafront, by the pool, or even on the deck of a ship. The name Nuova Guinea evokes the evolution of the collection and the outdoor soul of this product, recalling tropical and exotic destinations. The distinctive element of the collection is the weave of the seat and backrest, created as a separate element and subsequently applied to the frame thanks to zips. An innovative design solution making the collection more sustainable as it allows the woven parts to be easily removed and replaced. “It isanevolutionarycollectionthat startsfromatraditionalarchetype andintroducesinnovationthrough theassemblylogicthatdefinesthe seating” – explain the designers. The polypropylene yarn belts, weatherresistant, are available in two different widths and interwoven to generate an original graphic pattern. The result is a weave that combines maximum comfort with high technical performance.

Recalling the relaxed lifestyle in open air typical of the Italian “dolce vita” of the Sixties, Philía Mesh is an outdoor seating collection designed by Odo Fioravanti. Philía Mesh evokes the shapes that have defined the identity of Philía

collection, inspired by traditional Italian garden chairs. With Philía Mesh, these forms are reinterpreted through new materials that echo Pedrali tradition, with its earliest garden chairs made of expanded metal sheet: “expandedmetal sheet fascinated me because of itsproductionprocess –asort of mechanical ballet, that also inspiredthedesignofthechair” – tells Fioravanti. The distinctive texture of the metal sheet ensures comfort, breathability and resistance, making Philía Mesh ideal for outdoor living. The signature element of the collection is defined by an opening that gently crosses the backrest, creating a generous and practical integrated handle.

Designed by Mandelli Pagliarulo, Coney is a seating collection that evokes leisure, joy and conviviality, combining functionality, comfort and a highly graphical visual impact. “The name is a clear reference to the peninsula and neighbourhood of New York known as Coney Island. Its famous beaches, amusement parks and the idea of a funfair that this name evokes are auspicious images” – explain the designers. Coney barstool introduces a new element to the collection,

distinguished by its essential lines, visual lightness and mono-material frame in curved steel tube, which ensures durability and strength. Outdoor spaces are not defined by seating alone. They also include complementary elements designed to create welcoming and cohesive environments, such as Ikon Twist, designed by Pio & Tito Toso. A table that evolves the conical base of the Ikon collection, reinterpreting it through a new material aesthetic that enhances its volume. The base is wrapped with a polypropylene

rope, designed to withstand outdoor conditions while maintaining its aesthetic and performance over time.

The physical and visual lightness of aluminium is what makes Estratto particularly suited to outdoor settings. Designed by Formafantasma, Estratto is a collection of mono-material coffee tables and consoles made entirely from aluminium. The designers’ interest in materials with a genuine potential for circularity, combined with Pedrali manufacturing expertise, has given rise to a collection defined by a strong material identity, exploring the technical and narrative potential of aluminium extrusion as a potentially endless process. The base of Estratto is composed of three concave aluminium extrusions that, when joined together, ensure structural stability while leaving the internal cavity empty, creating an elegant interplay of solids and voids. The concave shape modulates and reflects light, enhancing depth and three-dimensionality, while also allowing for easy and functional combinations.

REDEFINING OUTDOOR LIVING THROUGH ARCHITECTURE AND BIOPHILIC DESIGN

As the boundaries between indoor and outdoor living continue to dissolve, architects are increasingly challenged to create spaces that enhance wellbeing, strengthen connections with nature and respond to the evolving ways people live.

At the heart of this shift is biophilic design, an architectural approach that seeks to reconnect people with the natural world through thoughtful, human centred design.

Outdoor spaces are no longer considered secondary to the home. Instead, they have become essential living environments that contribute to physical health, mental wellbeing and everyday quality of life. Homeowners are seeking meaningful ways to spend more time outdoors, while maintaining the comfort, protection and functionality traditionally associated with interior spaces.

This is where Amani represents a significant evolution in outdoor architecture.

As recently demonstrated at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, Amani has been designed as a sophisticated outdoor room rather than a simple garden structure. This enables architects and homeowners to create seamless transitions between the built environment and the landscape beyond. Its refined architectural form allows outdoor spaces to become purposeful destinations for relaxation, dining, entertaining and everyday living throughout the year.

Biophilic design centres on creating stronger connections with natural elements such as daylight, fresh air, vegetation and seasonal change.

Amani embraces these principles by providing an adaptable framework that encourages immersion in the surrounding environment without sacrificing comfort. The structure creates a sheltered setting where occupants remain visually and physically connected to nature, whether enjoying morning sunlight, listening to rainfall or experiencing the changing colours of the garden through the seasons.

Unlike traditional extensions, which often create another enclosed interior, Amani preserves the sensory benefits of outdoor living. The gentle movement of air, natural sounds and changing light conditions remain integral to the experience, helping occupants maintain a deeper connection to the environment around them.

Architecturally, Amani offers exceptional design flexibility. Its clean lines, minimalist detailing and contemporary aesthetic allow it to integrate harmoniously with a wide range of residential styles, from modern new builds to carefully restored period properties. The modular design provides architects with the freedom to specify a

solution that complements both the property and the landscape, creating a cohesive outdoor living experience.

The incorporation of integrated lighting, screens, glazing and climate control solutions further enhances usability, enabling outdoor spaces to function comfortably from early morning through to late evening and across every season. This adaptability supports one of the key objectives of biophilic architecture: encouraging people to spend more time engaging with nature as part of their daily routines.

As gardens increasingly become extensions of the home, outdoor architecture must deliver more than shelter alone. It must contribute to wellbeing, support modern lifestyles and foster meaningful connections between people and place.

Amani achieves this by transforming outdoor space into a natural continuation of the home, where architecture and landscape work together in harmony. The result is a refined outdoor living environment that embodies the principles of biophilic design while offering a timeless architectural solution for contemporary living.

In an era where wellbeing, sustainability and connection to nature are shaping the future of residential design, Amani stands as a compelling example of how architecture can enrich everyday life beyond the walls of the home.

INDOOR AND OUTDOOR, ONE SHARED ATMOSPHERE

Something has changed in the way interiors are designed. Colour palettes have shifted towards earthier tones, materials have become more raw and authentic, and surfaces increasingly evoke stone, wood and nature.

It reflects a different way of experiencing space — more grounded, more connected to its surroundings. Contemporary interiors look outdoors for inspiration: organic colours, living materials and atmospheres that evoke landscape and place.

Within this context, the boundary between indoor and outdoor has become more subtle and compelling. A shared language of materials, proportions and sensations now flows seamlessly

across spaces. Visual and sensory continuity has become an expectation rather than a stylistic choice.

It is within this framework that homemotion collection’s outdoor furnishings by Bizzotto find their most meaningful expression. Pieces designed for open-air living yet shaped through a language that speaks just as naturally to contemporary interiors: tactile materials, generous proportions and tones that evoke the earth and the landscape. Furnishings that belong to both worlds with the same coherence.

Tamires is perhaps the clearest expression of this vision. The seating system combines welcoming volumes, generous cushioning and a palette of natural shades in a collection that brings indoor comfort outdoors — and brings the

breath of the landscape indoors. Relaxed proportions and essential details allow it to engage effortlessly with contemporary architecture, urban terraces and living spaces inspired by natural materials.

Maverick
Tamires

Among the tables, Maverick explores the same idea through a strong architectural and material presence. Its generously sized top and distinctive base create a visual balance that recalls the essential forms of stone shaped by time. Around Maverick, conviviality takes shape, perspectives are defined and gathering becomes natural, whether in a dining room, beneath a covered terrace or at the centre of an outdoor space overlooking the landscape.

Some furnishings are designed to create atmosphere. Kollar is one of them. This armchair invites relaxation and the sharing of authentic moments throughout the year. Outdoors, it accompanies long summer days with effortless ease; indoors, it conveys the same welcoming feeling, evoking the wellbeing and serenity of a space immersed in nature.

A vision that Bizzotto expresses through an entire collection: pieces created with materials and proportions that speak a universal language. Furnishings that have transformed the perception of outdoor living and are now reshaping the experience of interiors, bringing into the home the same authenticity we seek outdoors.

WHERE DESIGN MEETS ATMOSPHERE

Where exceptional design meets outdoor living, Oxford Outdoor Living’s new luxury fire table collection brings warmth, atmosphere and architectural elegance to contemporary gardens.

As the boundaries between indoor and outdoor living continue to blur, today’s gardens are being designed with the same attention to detail as the interiors they complement. No longer simply seasonal spaces, they have become extensions of the home – places for entertaining, relaxing and creating memorable experiences throughout the year.

Reflecting this shift in contemporary outdoor design, Oxford Outdoor Living has introduced a new collection of luxury fire tables that combine architectural styling with the warmth and ambience of real flame.

At the heart of the collection is a belief that outdoor furniture should do more than serve a practical purpose. The finest pieces create atmosphere, encourage connection and bring a sense of occasion to everyday moments. Fire tables achieve this effortlessly, becoming natural gathering points where conversation flows long into the evening.

The collection showcases a carefully curated selection of premium designs from Elementi, a brand renowned for its sophisticated approach to outdoor fire features. Clean lines, refined proportions and beautifully textured finishes ensure each piece feels equally at home in a contemporary city courtyard, a landscaped country garden or a luxurious terrace overlooking the countryside.

Materials have been chosen not only for their durability but also for their aesthetic appeal. Marbleeffect surfaces, porcelain tops and

handcrafted concrete finishes introduce depth and character, while the dancing flames provide a striking visual contrast against the clean geometry of each design. The result is furniture that feels both timeless and distinctly modern.

Among the standout pieces is the elegant Bianco Fire Table, whose marble-inspired finish creates a serene focal point for relaxed outdoor lounging. Elsewhere in the collection, dining-height fire tables bring a new dimension to alfresco entertaining, seamlessly combining the warmth of a fire feature with the functionality of a dining table.

Beyond their visual appeal, fire tables extend the enjoyment of outdoor spaces well beyond the height of summer. As daylight fades and temperatures cool, they provide an inviting source of warmth, allowing homeowners and guests to remain outdoors in comfort while enjoying the atmosphere that only a real flame can create.

With this new collection, Oxford Outdoor Living continues its commitment to sourcing exceptional products that celebrate thoughtful design, craftsmanship and outdoor living at its finest. The result is a range that transforms terraces, patios and gardens into beautifully considered spaces designed to be enjoyed throughout the seasons.

SENSIETNA MATTEO THUN E BENEDETTO FASCIANA

SensiEtna was born from the collaboration between Florim and Matteo Thun & Partners as a tribute to the primordial force of nature, inviting us on a journey to Sicily, to Mount Etna, the

At the heart of the project lies the use of lava as a distinctive natural element, celebrating matter in its rawest, most powerful, and most beautiful expression. This design journey comes to life through the expertise of Nerosicilia, an Italian company specialized in the production and processing of natural surfaces.

The encounter between lava and the minerals found within the volcano gives rise to an astonishing range of colors, the visual expression of a one-of-a-kind natural process. From this same

interaction emerges a rich and textured tactile dimension, lending the material a bold and distinctive mineral composition, reminiscent of “scoria” , the porous outer layer of volcanic stone that is shaped and refined into form.

Etna’s lava stone, known for its extraordinary durability, embodies the essence of Sicily: a land of contrasts, raw energy, and deeprooted identity. Its inherently solid and long-lasting nature makes it a material that stands the test of time, retaining both its beauty and functionality unchanged.

SensiEtna is designed to bring a sense of natural harmony back to interiors, offering a conscious and responsible approach to design. It’s the result of a union between lava stone and glass, two materials fused together to form a sustainable and harmonious blend.

Recycling and reusing lava slab offcuts from local production facilities is both the foundation and the culmination of the collection’s concept. Lava is a living, ever-evolving element, and it is precisely this regenerative nature that makes it a symbol of balance

island’s iconic volcano.

between strength and respect for the land. Using this native material is a sustainable choice, not only because of its natural formation, but also thanks to the minimal environmental impact of its extraction process.

RANGE

The integration of recycled glass as a surface decoration on lava stone makes it possible to achieve one-of-a-kind, customizable color effects. The color palette spans from ivory to charcoal, taking inspiration from the various stages of lava’s natural lifecycle. White evokes the moment when lava reaches extreme temperatures and glows incandescently. Black symbolizes the solidified volcanic rock, with its deep and intense shades. Pairing these strong tones with more vibrant hues, such as yellow or dark red, creates a visually striking contrast. The dialogue between opposites generates a majestic play of light and reflection, enhancing spatial depth and volume. This visual path is more than just an aesthetic experience, it tells the

story of transformation: from a living, moving element to a solid, dense, and permanent material. The bugnato, crosta, and rigatino surface finishes lend the collection a deep authenticity, not only visual, but above all tactile. Each texture is designed to deliver a distinctive material sensation: Bugnato, with its sculpted irregularity and lightreflecting surface, Crosta, with its naturally rough texture, Rigatino, with its rhythmic and precise pattern. These finishes go beyond

decoration; they invite touch, making the sensory experience an essential part of the design itself.

The use of smaller sizes, 10x40, 10x10, and 20x20 cm, stems from the recovery of larger slabs, transformed through a wastereducing process that promotes mindful use of available materials. Each piece retains the integrity and uniqueness of the original stone, highlighting its natural imperfections and authentic textures. These small formats aren’t a limitation, but rather a celebration of the fragmented, precious nature of the material — extracted, transformed, and reinterpreted.
