This month I'd like to talk about the purpose of the Sequoia Gardens Mobilehome Owners' Association (SGMOA) & the board. We are NOT a stereotypical HOA enforcement group. This is from our bylaws:
PURPOSE:
a) To support the affordability of Sequoia Gardens Mobilehome Park spaces for all residents.
b) To promote and ensure safe and pleasant living conditions and to protect our vested property interest.
c) To promote understanding and communication between management/ownership and the residents, to mediate disputes, and to ensure courteous, equitable and respectful treatment [by management/ownership].
So, in my interpretation, we are here to help our neighborhood be a real community that looks out for each other.
In service of this purpose, the board is here to listen to issues, investigate solutions, present issues and possible solutions to management and to the community.
Other organizations you might hear about, SRMOA (Santa Rosa), GSMOL (Golden State), are all similar but represent wider membership. They focus on issues like the senior overlay that impact all mobilehome parks in their area.
There are also many things that happen within the park that are driven by individuals and not a part of the board. COPE, food delivery, various games, etc - these are all supported by us as residents but are not under control of the board. We will happily refer questions to the appropriate person for these!
If there is anything you want us to look into, want advice on, or want to add to the agenda for our community meetings, please reach out to any board member.
Speaking of meetings… we would love to see more of your faces each month! While our secretary sends the minutes that tell a lot of what goes on, there is so much discussion that can only be appreciated in person. If you need assistance in getting to the clubhouse, let us know. We'll try to find help for you.
Thanks for being a vital part of our community,
Judy Loomis president@sgmoa.org

Sharon was born in Okemah, Oklahoma, a name originating from the indigenous Cherokee language. At that time, Okemah had one main street, Woody Guthrie Blvd., named for the legendary American folk singer. Sharon’s maternal grandmother’s birth certificate identifies her birthplace as I.T., Oklahoma (Indian Territory). Sharon’s parents were cotton and peanut sharecroppers, working the fields while raising their 4 daughters: Willa, Mona, Beverly and last born, Sharon. (Willa died at an early age due to pneumonia.) During this time Sharon’s dad would work other jobs, earning $5.00 on a “good” day.
Sharon and her family moved to northern Ca. in 1945, locating to the city of Fulton. Their home was situated behind where the current post office sits today. Here, her father was employed as a “prune shaker”, working among plum trees and hops. She described her life as rich with love and a home garden.

Her father found a new job, overseeing 2 chicken ranches, and the family moved again, living and working off Stony Point Road here in Santa Rosa. As foreman, her father would strive to keep the chickens cool, thus promoting egg production. With a 5K loan, her parents purchased land and self-built a 3 bedroom house still standing today: 1672 Guerneville Road near Ridley Ave. (See her attached poem, the “Yellow House.”)
Sharon attended several of our local schools: Todd School, Monroe School, Santa Rosa Junior High School, Santa Rosa High School, and finally Santa Rosa Jr. College. She began her working career with State Farm as a typist and through promotions retired after 25 years. She met and then married Don Doss, and together they raised their 2 children, daughter Noelle and son Derek. Of interest is that Don Doss was the first adopted child of the Doss Family who went on to adopt 11 more children from various ethnic backgrounds.
After living in Penngrove on an acre of land for 33 years, Sharon and Don decided to downsize and in 2012 moved into house #120 here in Sequoia Gardens. Sharon enjoys our social activities, including the Monday morning coffee group. She attends Forestville Methodist Church. She writes poetry. She enjoys her 3 grandchildren; Willa age 11, who lives close by and Matilda, age 24, and Owen, age 21, who both live in Australia with their parents.
Sharon, thank you for being part of our Sequoia Gardens Neighborhood.

Gary and I prepped the community garden beds over the winter and in February we planted seeds and starters in my garden. We hope to share cabbage, beets, winter lettuce, cauliflower, greens, and broccoli, if everything survives.

How to solve sudoku puzzles

No math is required to solve a sudoku. You only need logic and patience.
Simply make sure that each 3x3 square region has only one instance of the numbers 1-9. Similarly, each number can only

appear once in a column or row in the larger grid. The difficulty on this puzzle is easy.
