As many of you have been aware, The March 2026 Newsletter was unable to be delivered to your doorsteps at its usual time during the last week of February. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience, and we hope to iron out the kinks in the printing process with our newsletter publisher to keep such incidents to an absolute minimum.
We were, however, able to utilize email to send out the March newsletter to Royal Oaks residents that have provided us with their email addresses. There are some residents who do not have email addresses or access to the devices that have the technology, such as smart phones or computers. They will continue to receive handdelivered printed materials, such as the HOA meeting minutes, or other notices related to the park. There may be some residents who have an email address but prefer not to disclose same, for privacy or other reasons, and they will also rely on hand delivery. For everyone’s awareness, our HOA and GSMOL organizations use residents’ emails for community information purposes only. No advertising or soliciting. We send out notices of park happenings, such as announcements of meetings or social events, that we believe are important to the community; noteworthy GSMOL news; updates on mobilehome bills being considered by the legislature at the Capitol in Sacramento; the HOA meeting minutes; and this very HOA newsletter in March, when our publisher failed to deliver printed newsletters to us on time. If you wish to list your email address with us, simply contact:

By Joyce Forte, Roving Reporter
In this month’s newsletter we found another willing participant. Debbie Passanisi, a Royal Oaks resident on Crown Road for five years, likes to help people. She may be helping you on Tuesdays if you need assistance getting your bagged trash to the park dumpsters. You may see her helping to festively decorate our clubhouse with colorful and fun monthly holiday themes. Debbie is also our new HOA Vice President, helping our President Betty Hautzenrader plan and organize numerous activities for us at Royal Oaks Park.
I was lucky enough to catch up with Debbie, who shared some very interesting tidbits about herself. I was delighted to find out that we each root for a baseball team from the East Coast. Read on to discover that team and to learn more about Debbie Passanisi.
JOYCE: Tell us a little about yourself.
DEBBIE: I am 59 years old. My birthday is December 7th, Pearl Harbor Day. I am Sicilian and German. I love helping people any way I can.
JOYCE: Where did you grow up/attend high school?
DEBBIE: I grew up in Daly City/San Francisco. Attended only high school in Sebastopol, CA.
JOYCE: How long have you been associated with/lived at Royal Oaks?
DEBBIE: I have lived in Royal Oaks for five years.
JOYCE: What do you think makes Royal Oaks a special place to live?
DEBBIE: Everyone here is very kind and friendly, (it’s) very easy to make friends. I see that neighbors and friends look out for each other.
JOYCE: In your spare time, what do you like to do?
DEBBIE: I love working in my garden, planting new flowers. I love to crafts and do craft shows. (I love) spending time with family and friends and going to our lake house in Lakeport, CA.
JOYCE: What is something unique that people would not guess about you?
DEBBIE: I have driven a Sprint car and street stocks. I love watching boxing, MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) and UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) sports.
JOYCE: What kind of food(s) do you enjoy the most?
DEBBIE: I love my dad’s BBQ steaks, my fiancé’s dad’s BBQ chicken and most of all, my nana’s homemade éclairs.
JOYCE: Do you have any special sports teams that you cheer on?
DEBBIE: Well, coming from Daly City/SF area, born and raised on 49ers and SF Giants. But I also cheer on the Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Ravens.
JOYCE: Is there a certain place, near or far, that you have visited and still hold in your heart?
DEBBIE: When I was a kid, my mom’s dad’s brother (Uncle Donnie) had a huge farm in Nebraska, had rows and rows of cornfields, cattle, pigs, chickens, goats. He grew all their food. We would go back and visit every summer, growing up as a child. I would go on rides on horses, go to cookouts and see lots of relatives. It was just such happy, carefree visits.
JOYCE: Do you have a favorite movie that you never tire seeing again?
DEBBIE: I have two. American Graffiti and Grease. LOL
JOYCE: What do you wish you had more time for?
DEBBIE: Spending more time with my two sisters.
JOYCE: On a rainy day, what is your preferred thing to do?
DEBBIE: Work on my crafts, take long naps, watch movies.
JOYCE: What is your favorite holiday and why?
DEBBIE: Christmas. Because my mom loves when I would decorate the house for her. Love having my family all together and eating lots of great food.
JOYCE: If you could spend an hour or two with a famous person, from the past or present, who would it be? Why did you choose this person?
DEBBIE: I would have to say Marilyn Monroe. She was such a beautiful person. Would like to get to know the real Norma Jean Mortenson, not the sex symbol. She seemed to have a beautiful soul. Plus I named my 1963 Ford Galaxy car after her.
JOYCE: Tell us one of your simple pleasures.
DEBBIE: I love helping others.
JOYCE: Is there anything else you’d like us to know about you?
DEBBIE: Yes, I have two sisters, one older, one younger. One lives in Sebastopol, one in Petaluma. We are very close to one another. I went to a Catholic school in Daly City for eight years. I had horses growing up which we boarded behind the Cow Palace in SF. Love animals sometimes more than people. The animals love you no matter what!
THANK YOU, DEBBIE, FOR TAKING THE TIME TO LET ROYAL OAKS RESIDENTS GET TO KNOW YOU BETTER! IT IS MUCH APPRECIATED.
