We will all be working with our Management Company (Summit Real Estate Management) to be sure our community is a safe and enjoyable place to reside. Normally we would add our Approved minutes from March meeting, however, we did not have an open meeting for April so they will not be approved until our May meeting on May 15th, unfortunately that is not in time for our June Happenings so in July we will have two months of minutes for March and April 2025.
We look forward to seeing you at our Monthly Meetings on the third Thursday of each month. Attending these meetings are especially important as we all want to be heard and should listen to others as well and this is a terrific opportunity to do that.
See you soon!

NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH ON THE GREEN
by John Bertaut in #41
PURPOSE OF NW
Being watchful of the areas in our community which you can see from your home and reporting suspicious behavior is the purpose of Neighborhood Watch. Plus, when you drive or walk or bike and observe suspicious activity at GGME you report it.
WHO MAY JOIN?
All residents may be part of Neighborhood Watch. There is no official membership nor fees nor requirements other than Watching and Reporting. A group of the most active residents in the NW Program meet in the Clubhouse at 1 PM on the first Thursday of each month. All residents are welcome and invited. We discuss NW-type problems in the park.
REPORT TO WHOM?
Report suspicious behavior to the Park Office Tuesdays – Saturdays 8 AM – 5 PM. When the office is closed call the Sacramento County Sheriff’s office. GGME Office: 916.383.1543 Sheriff: 9-1-1 Emergency OR 916.874.5111. Non-Emergency number: 916.874.5115, extension 0. What is considered an emergency? The Sheriff says that is your decision. They can correct you if wrong.
SAFETY TIPS
My favorite reminders to you for preventing theft and break-ins on your property are: Keep doors and windows always locked. Do not open the door to strangers unless you have something like or a security screen door between you and them when you open a door; keep lights on porches at night; keep locked and out of sight anything you do not want to lose to theft.
Report strangers and any suspicious activity in the community, to the Park Manager or the Sheriff.
VOLUNTEER NIGHT PATROLS CONSIDERED
We are considering night patrols in the park by pairs of park residents if that is approved by the HOA Board of Directors. If you would like to participate in that activity, please text or email me and I will add you to the list we have started.

Time for FUN, MORE GOLFING AND THE POOLS ARE OPEN!
Wait - just asking did you finish your SPRING CLEANING?
Did you start to get a mysterious often totally random impulse to clean and organize. Such as two top desk drawers. Both had compartmentalized trays that were once organized but had become chaotic: a jumble of paper clips, rubber bands, odd keys, and way too many old business cards, among other things. Did you go to work and found that it evidetly had been a long time since you purged these drawers because you were able to toss so much including 90% of the business cards. Some names probably looked familiar, some may have had cryptic handwritten notes, still others meant nothing to you, though they must have at the time. You know if you took and kept the card, there must have been a reason, but that reason had evidently come and gone. Oh well maybe more cleaning next year!
• THE ART OF QUILTING: A LOVE STORY
When a couple quilts together, they are co-creating something beautiful. This process mirrors their relationship with each other, and is made stronger through collaboration, compromise, and a shared purpose.
Quilting is a slow deliberate art that takes patient attention to detail and care, just like a strong relationship. Each step and stitch represents a small act of devotion mirroring how a couple builds love over time.
Quilting is more than stitching fabric together. It is a language of love and patience. Every quilt tells a story. Behind each patch is a purpose: a baby’s arrival, a wedding gift, a gesture of comfort in illness or grief, a going away to college remembrance of home. These are not just blankets. They are heirlooms made from moments.
Quilting teaches patience, mistakes are forgiven, stitches are redone, and the makers always return because the quilt is not finished until the heart says it is ready. It is truly a labor of love, where every square is a symbol of time invested, emotions expressed, and relationships honored
Thank you, Mary Ellen Ryder, for sharing the following story:
Karen and Charlie Price’s Story
Karen’s mother was an avid quilter, but Karen had no interest in the art growing up. She and Charlie married and raised two sons. When the sons grew up and left home 35 years ago, and the Prices became “empty nesters”, they looked for something that they could do together. An ad for a quilting class caught their attention and they both decided to check it out. They have since enjoyed the art, especially since they found it was a fun activity they could do together. And that was the beginning of their love affair with quilting.
They have made innumerable quilts over the years. And they have their projects so perfectly choreographed that the process is like a smooth, delightful dance. In fact, at one part of the process, Karen does turn on the music (Bob Dylan) and dances as she maneuvers the long arm machine to sew the pieces together with a creative design.
First, one chooses a pattern. Charlie prefers using a kit, while Karen usually opts for creative flowing ideas. Then Charlie cuts the pieces and sews them together, then blocks them according to the pattern. He gives the blocks to Karen, who then sews the backing to the front piece. Then she’s ready to sew the batting on. Next, the fun really sets in: she pins the piece to an object below and one above. Then she turns around and turns on the music, and dances as she meanders (a quilting term for using the “long arm” machine to sew the pieces together with a creative design.
Next Karen uses the “regular” sewing machine to sew the border on, then flips it over. Then it’s Charlie’s turn to hand stitch the border to the quilt.
The Prices have never sold a quilt and never will in the future. They feel they put so much time and love into the process of creating it that they will only give one of their quilts to someone who will love it “Keep it happy.”
Greatly appreciated were the beautiful quilts Karen and Charlie donated for the raffle at the Easter Breakfast held on Saturday, April 19. A special thank you to Paul Sam for cooking the delicious food- Vickie Brownell, Lucia Griffin and Sheri Zapara, the co-chairs of the event and finally all the others who donated raffle prizes helped in any way and of course those of you who attended. It was truly a wonderful event.
