It’s September!!!! The kids are headed back to school and we’re getting ready for fall. Soon the leaves will turn and the flowering plants will go dormant. I‘m a spring/summer person, so it’s always sad to see summer end. I hope you all had a great summer and enjoyed the amenities here at Plaza del Rey. The pools were in beautiful shape and things in the park are looking good. As a reminder, if you are using the clubhouses, for anything larger than two guests, you have to reserve the clubhouse at the main office in advance. You just can’t walk in and cook and use the clubhouses for your private party and cooking is only allowed with a reservation. Speaking of cooking, someone has taken it upon themselves to cut the lock off the BBQ at the main clubhouse to use the BBQ. That BBQ is not for resident use, it’s for the Social club and the main offices use. So whoever is continually using the BBQ and leaving it a mess, you must stop we are watching. Our summer BBQs are now over and we have to thank all the volunteers that helped this summer, It would not have happened without you ….Thank You!!!!!! Well, enjoy the nice weather and get your homes ready for winter. Cheers 3
SUNSHINE REPORT We are looking for someone to take over as our Sunshine Reporter. The person would provide get well or condolence cards for PdR Residents that are ill or who pass away. Star Trek Turns 60! Star Trek premiered in Canada on September 6, 1966 and in the US on September 8, 1966. It ran for 3 seasons with 79 episodes. It wasn’t a big success originally. It was the reruns in syndication (starting in 1969) that created the cult following. By 1974 it aired in 140 domestic and 54 international markets. Trekkies were born! There have been 12 subsequent series and 14 films.

Here’s a quick quiz about how to help prevent crime in PDR. What should you do if you see something suspicious happening in PDR? Choose ONE of the following: A. Immediately call security B. Immediately post a message to your neighbors on social medial like NextDoor C. Immediately call 911 D. Immediately call the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety non-emergency number The correct answer is C. Do not hesitate! Call 911 immediately. PDRNW is the eyes and ears of The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety. We are tasked with the job of letting them know when something suspicious or a danger to the public is happening in PDR. The longer you wait to call 911, the harder it is for them to help us. After calling 911 and giving as many details as possible about the suspect and the activity. Only after doing that, you might want to alert neighbors on NextDoor. • • • • • •
Things to report when you call 911 include: Physical description of the suspect Any items they are carrying Description of any vehicles involved What they are doing Which direction they went
