Did You Know?

On April 23, 1985, the New Coke formula was announced by CocaCola after taste tests suggested people preferred it. The backlash was so intense that the company brought back the original formula just 79 days later.

Millennium Memo The View

SPARC, our resident services partner, has been busy in Rancho Vallecitos.

Last month, for instance, a series of 12 Tech Classes spread over 6 months began, along with Smartphone Classes and a Be Safe, Be Prepared Lunch-and-Learn. You were also invited to several SPARC events over at Palomar East & West.

Coming up: a speaker discussing Long-Term Care (April 20), Chair Zumba (3 weeks starting May 4) and “Color Reading” on May 26. That last one features an art instructor who will explain what the artwork you just created says about your personality.

Kudos to Stacee & the folks at SPARC for their creativity in finding programs for you and for being such a resource for the Park. Now, if only more of you would attend…

More News

• Renee is giving a resident Kudo to Mr. Schwabe (Sp. 66), for the “outstanding job with his homesite. His front porch is the cutest ever!” I wish my porch was that cute. Nice job, Mr. Schwabe.

• Recent expenditure: $12K and a lot of work! to clean up the ravine by Palomar West. The crew is also excited about their new $6K Maintenance Shed, which completes this year’s April 2026

Wish List.

Patrick is promising “amazing things coming up” in the 2026/27 List. That makes me a little nervous. Sounds expensive, doesn’t it?

• I’m hearing that on-street parking violations are creeping up again. As described in Rule 15B, street parking is only allowed for brief periods of loading and unloading (never before 8AM or after 11PM), and for repairmen types.

Putting on your flashers is helpful, but doesn’t make it legal it just makes it sparkly illegal. If you are one of the offenders, you get this month’s Unkudo.

In Case You Were Wondering

Q. Why did the baby chick cross the road?

A. To meet with her peeps.

Have a Happy Easter.

NEWSLETTER DELAYS:

I wanted to take a moment and update you on the newsletter delays. The publisher had some down presses and parts were ordered. They are back up and running – BUT – They are playing catch-up. This means this edition of The View, for April, could in fact be late when you receive it.

Reminders to check your tubes for separate calendars, flyers or announcements about the upcoming events.

Feel free to get into the habit of coming up to the Clubhouse to check the sign-up table and see what’s going on in our community! There is ALWAYS something!

Lastly – You can always go to the Millennium website and view an electronic version of the Monthly newsletter.

https://www.millenniumhousing.net/#Monthly_Magazine|Rancho_Vallecitos

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:

STOP feeding the birds, wild cats, etc. When you do this, it brings other critters that leave messes and help to attract the coyotes too! It’s against the Park Rules to feed Wildlife. This habit brings other critters and their messes. All of which will attract the Coyotes.

STOP letting your cats out to roam the park. We should all have inside pets; and if they are outside, they should always be with you, and on a leash.

Here are a few FYI reminders for everyone:

The speed limit in the Park is 15 MPH and it is a good idea to observe the stop signs.

- Visitors must be accompanied by a Resident when, taking a walk, enjoying the pool or spa, playing pool, or relaxing in the Clubhouse.

- Pool hours are 8 AM to 10 PM

- Children’s pool hours are 10 AM to 1 PM.

To clarify the specifics of the Children’s Pool hours. Children are not permitted inside the gates to the pool before 10 AM and Children must be completely out of the pool area by 1 PM. There are signs on the wall near the SPA that are very clear about the rules.

If you have questions or concerns, your Resident Advocate Group, Debbie, Leanne, Rod, and Lee, give us a call. Also, the Park rules are available on the website: millenniumhousing.net. Click on Communities then Rancho Vallecitos. The user ID: VALLECITOS (all caps), Password: VIEW (all caps).

Until next time, don’t hesitate to call, text, or email any member of the R.A.G. team, we are ready and willing to listen to your concerns and answer your questions. Our numbers are on the Who’s Who page in THE VIEW.

Neighborhood Watch

APRIL 2026

As always, please remember to LOCK UP YOUR CAR(S), LOCK THE DOORS OF YOUR HOME AND SHED, AND LIGHT UP YOUR DRIVEWAY. There are lots of battery-operated motion lights available that might help deter prowlers. Leaving the porch light on overnight will light up your driveway and cost less than the items you could lose if they are stolen.

Remember the If you See Something, Say Something rule of thumb. We cannot effectively help or track down scenarios, if our Residents do not call us, call the Management Office, call the Sheriff, and the Security service, IN THE MOMENT, meaning immediately after you close and lock your door. The phone numbers are in the View Magazine every month.

As always, we of the Neighborhood Watch Team will continue to be vigilant for our neighborhood and hope more neighbors will join us in that effort. For more information, please feel free to call your Block Leader or me, Lee @ 760-597-7010.

DEADLINE TO DONATE EXTENDED TO 4/30/26

Once again, I will be collecting socks and sending them to Interfaith Community Services, the nonprofit organization in Escondido that last year served 23,000 people who were experiencing hardships and needed food, clothing, and other essentials.

Please shop for some socks for adults, teens, and kids and donate again this year.

Socks are one of Interfaith’s greatest needs all year long, especially this year because we’ve had so much rain. The socks MUST BE NEW rather that gently used.

Last year, Sarah Cho, the Donations Coordinator, expressed her gratitude on behalf of the organization for the great generosity of the people in our community.

If you can only afford to buy one pair of socks, that’s fine, too. There will be two collection containers: (1) in the Main Clubhouse, the table with sign-ups and flyers and (2) near my front walkway at Spc 257.

Thank you in advance, because the people are so appreciative of our donations!

Thank you to the Social Club and all our volunteers that do food prep, planning, decorating, shopping, table setting, servings etc. It takes an entire team! Lucky for us, they all love doing it – AND we have fun making it all happen!

Thank you to all Chili Cook-Off Contestants that submitted amazing recipes!

Thank you to the judges this year: “Chef” Dave Smith, Ray Conlon & Young Conlon. They had a tough job this year for sure!

WINNERS!

1st Place – Renee’ Brophy

2nd Place – Denver Forester

MURDER MYSTERY DINNER

Don’t forget to sign up and pay by the deadline!

This is going to be so much fun! You won’t want to miss it!

PHOTOS – If you attend an event, and you take any photos, that you would like to submit for the newsletter – please be sure to email them to Renee’ Brophy @ ranchovallecitos@gmail.com. I will always try to fit as many photos as I can into the newsletter. However, I only have 22 pages. Some months we have a lot of information to get in and not enough room for all the photos.

So, we have installed 2 bulletin boards in the main hallway of the Clubhouse. I will have all the photos printed and pinned onto the bulletin boards for your viewing pleasure. If you see one you really like, you can take it!

Be the Things You Love Most, About the People That Are No Longer with You."

WATER AEROBICS CLASS

Water Aerobics started back up in March! They meet for class every Tuesday & Thursday @ 1pm! Make a commitment to yourself! You’ll make new friends, stay active and it’s such a fun way to get your exercise in!

LINE DANCING CLASS

We meet twice a week, in the main clubhouse! Tuesday and Thursday’s 3:30PM – UNLESS OTHERWISE ANNOUNCED.

We have a GREAT TIME! Everyone invited – Beginner to Advanced. Come have fun with us!

PAINT CLASS WITH DONNA AND DAWN

Our painting class in March turned out to be quite an adventure for most of our painters as we tackled landscapes. While there were plenty of moments filled with uncertainty—many saying, “Oh no, I’m not sure I can do this!” everyone ultimately did a fantastic job. Getting out of our comfort zones and trying something new can be challenging, even for Donna and myself, but we were all able to accomplish it together.

To celebrate the arrival of spring, our April class project will be painting a clay flowerpot that you can later display in your garden.

We invite you to join us on April 7th at 10:00 AM in the game room. As always, the signup sheet will be available in the RV Clubhouse, or you may reserve your spot by calling Dawn or Donna. This helps ensure we have enough pots for everyone. The cost for the class is $10. We look forward to seeing you in April!
