DID YOU KNOW?

On February 7, 1957, the first mass -produced frozen pizza was sold in the U.S. changing dinner forever.

Millennium Memo

The Dec. 17 SPARC Holiday Event went pretty well, or at least that was the consensus from the 44 Rancho Vallecitos folks who attended. SPARC, of course, is our resident services partner.

Our 44 partiers enjoyed ornament decorating and other crafts, live jazz music from Tony Merlo, a FREE lunch from Boudin, raffles and, to cap it all off, a lively line dancing session. As always, thanks to Stacee & the folks from SPARC for sponsoring.

If that sounds like a fun event, maybe we’ll see you next time.

More News

• Continuing one of Rancho Vallecitos’ more endearing traditions, Lee Zook has once again made a large donation of children’s pajamas 72 pairs, this year. Not only that, but Lee has offered additional donations, if needed.

Kudos to you, Lee, for your strong support of SPARC’s mission.

• We occasionally remind you to pick up after your dogs, but apparently, our resident coyotes need the same reminder, given the volume of…stuff our crew’s been cleaning up. I knew coyotes can be brazen, but this almost seems arrogant.

Thanks, guys, for taking on yet another unpleasant task on behalf of the Park.

• We’re giving a second Kudo this month, this one to the Buggs (Sp. 74). Per Renee: “They made a huge improvement to the rear of their home, facing Linda Vista and the Park Entrance, making the Park that much more beautiful!”

Millennium Memo Continued...

On a Sadder Note

I was very sorry to hear of Arlene Holman’s passing in December. Arlene was a longtime resident and a great friend of the Park.

Renee called Arlene “our little spark plug.” Others remember her as “one of the first people I met when I was looking to move in here. She told us about how great the Park is and all the fun activities that happen here.”

Of course, Arlene was responsible for many of those activities. We’ll truly miss her.

With Valentine’s Day Approaching…

I thought I’d pass along some wisdom I learned from my lovely bride Roann: “Marriage is a relationship in which one person is always right, and the other is the husband.” Has that been your experience also?

Have a fun Valentine’s Day!

MOBILE HOME REGISTRATIONS

Just a reminder that when you receive an updated registration card for your mobile home (which happens every year), you should be handing in a copy to the park office, as we keep a copy in our files.

ADD’L OCCUPANTS / ROOMMATES

Reminder that we are permitted to have a guest(s) for 20 consecutive days within a calendar year. If you have a guest that is staying longer than that, you must apply for an add’l occupant / Roommate. The applications are available in the Park Office.

Important things to remember for add’l occupants/roommates

1. They have no tenancy rights

2. They may not have guests or pets

3. They may not use the park amenities or move about the park without the homeowner accompanying them, always.

4. If the homeowner leaves for an extended period of time (business, pleasure, medical, etc.), the add’l occupant must vacate at the same time.

5. If the homeowner moves away from the home, the add’l occupant must vacate at the same time.

6.

VEHICLE PARKING AND STORAGE AT HOMESITES

A few important reminders about parking and storage of vehicles at your home site. Below are the Park Rules as they apply to this topic.

15. PARKING

H. No automobile may be "stored" on the home site. "Storage" shall include, but not be limited to, the parking of an inoperative vehicle for a period exceeding two (2) weeks, the parking of an operative vehicle that is not used for a period exceeding four (4) weeks or the parking of more than one vehicle for the purpose of selling those vehicles as part of a commercial activity.

L. Vehicles are not permitted in the Park unless they are regularly maintained in normal operating condition and are neat and clean in appearance. This includes, but is not limited to, vehicles whose exterior appearance has deteriorated to a point where they are unsightly and detract from the appearance of the Park, or vehicles which contain unsightly loads that are visible to other people.

FEBRUARY 2026

It’s February already! January flew by and we spent a lot of it indoors, because of the rain. We also have cool days and cold nights and we all bring out the space heaters. Please be careful where the heater is placed – away from curtains or not too near furniture that might catch fire.

We didn’t receive any requests for information or clarification of our Parks regulations. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if you need help.

Here are a few FYI reminders for everyone:

The speed limit in the Park is 15 MPH and it is a good idea to observe the stop signs.

SOLICITORS ARE NOT PERMITTED WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM THE MANAGEMENT OFFICE.

- Visitors must be accompanied by a Resident when, taking a walk, enjoying the pool or spa, playing pool, or relaxing in the Clubhouse.

- Pool hours are 8 AM to 10 PM

- Children’s pool hours are 10 AM to 1 PM.

To clarify the specifics of the Children’s Pool hours. Children are not permitted inside the gates to the pool before 10 AM and Children must be completely out of the pool area by 1 PM. There are signs on the wall near the SPA that are very clear about the rules.

If you have questions or concerns, your Resident Advocate Group, Debbie, Leanne, Rod, and Lee, give us a call. Also, the Park rules are available on the website: millenniumhousing.net. Click on Communities then Rancho Vallecitos. The user ID: VALLECITOS (all caps), Password: VIEW (all caps).

Until next time, don’t hesitate to call, text, or email any member of the R.A.G. team, we are ready and willing to listen to your concerns and answer your questions. Our numbers are on the Who’s Who page in THE VIEW.

Neighborhood Watch

FEBRUARY 2026

Sadly, there will always be people who want to prowl areas mostly in the middle of the night to get easy freebies. Don’t be a victim. Avoid that by securing your home, shed and car.

Scammers are getting more and more creative. We must be cautious when replying to phone calls and emails. Remember that Social Security and the IRS will only contact you by mail. Lately, there have been calls offering huge sums of money that would not have to be paid back, offering to cancel college debt, great deals for auto repairs, and the list goes on and on. Also, and this is very important, when a scammer calls you and says, is this _____ DO NOT SAY “YES”, THIS WILL GET YOU PHONE NUMBER ON AN ACTIVE LIST AND YOU WILL RECEIVE MORE AND MORE CALLS. In 2024, Americans lost $47 billion to scams, and Seniors are a major target. Be suspicious!

As always, please remember to LOCK UP YOUR CAR(S), LOCK THE DOORS OF YOUR HOME AND SHED, AND LIGHT UP YOUR DRIVEWAY. There are lots of battery-operated motion lights available that might help deter prowlers. Leaving the porch light on overnight will light up your driveway and cost less than the items you could lose if they are stolen.

If you need help, or solicitors are knocking on doors, or there is a suspicious vehicle driving around, we will do our best to locate those individuals and have them leave the property. We cannot effectively accomplish this if our Residents do not call us, call the Management Office, call the Sheriff, and the Security service, IN THE MOMENT, meaning immediately after you close and lock your door. The phone numbers are in the View Magazine every month.

SOLICITATION OF ANY KIND IS NOT PERMITTED WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM THE MANAGEMENT OFFICE.

As always, we of the Neighborhood Watch Team will continue to be vigilant for our neighborhood and hope more neighbors will join us in that effort. For more information, please feel free to call your Block Leader or me, Lee @ 760-597-7010.
