Finally Summer 20
In 1970, Elvis Presley and Priscilla spent part of their honeymoon at the Alexander Estate in Palm Springs now nicknamed “The House of Tomorrow.” The futuristic home, with its circular rooms and stone walls, became a symbol of desertmodern style and 70s glamour. Elvis leased the home from 1966 1967 at a whopping $21,000 for the year.
“A dog was briefly left unattended and snatched by a coyote. The resident chased the coyote up the street and the coyote dropped the dog.”
“A resident’s small dog was missing and found a day later chewed up pretty badly by a coyote. Last we heard, he was in surgery.”
That first incident happened at Palomar East, the other one at one of our Northern California Parks, so this be must occurring all over the State.
A few years ago, we lost a beloved cat to a coyote, so I understand the angst about this. The key word in that first incident is “unattended,” as our cat was when she was taken. Even though it’s hard to keep tabs on a tabby, I still blame myself for that loss.
We hope you take this as a reminder to be alert while your dog is outside, even on a leash. Unfortunately, coyotes are part of the landscape these days, so let’s hope Renee never has to report an incident like this.
• SPARC, our resident services partner, is planning to sponsor a Micro-Fair sometime this Summer. The Fair will feature 10-12 vendors, Tech Question Booth, Health Screenings…and a FREE Jersey Mike’s lunch. Stay Tuned!
• This month’s Kudos go to Ron & Kathy Wilson (Sp. 217). Ron & Kathy bring back a haul from the Food Bank to the Clubhouse for the rest of you to enjoy. Thanks so much, Ron & Kathy. Your neighbors appreciate your efforts.
• Adding Security Cameras to your home might be a good idea, but be careful how you place them. Please respect your neighbor’s privacy, and avoid capturing anything that might be going on next door. That’s reasonable, isn’t it?
• Patrick is very happy to announce the addition of Ricardo Correa-Sanchez, the newest member of the Maintenance Staff. Welcome to the Millennium Family, Ricardo! Now, if Patrick can find one more person, he’ll be back at full strength.
“Dear Dad I wish I had enough money to buy the Padres for you. I wouldn’t do that, I just wish I had that much money.” Brings a tear to your eye, doesn’t it?
Have a fun Father’s Day!

Yesterday, I was washing the car with my son. He said, “Dad, can’t you just use a sponge?”

The title says it all. Guest Parking Spots are for your GUESTS. Please remember that residents and their Park approved add’l occupants must park at the homesite.
If you have a guest(s) that is going to stay overnight and will use a guest parking spot, you need to come to the office and get an overnight parking pass.
If your guests do not have an overnight parking pass on their car, when parking overnight, they will receive a parking violation from Security.
If it’s after hours and the office is closed, just call the office 760-727-1141 and let the answering service know to get us the information. If you call or come to the office during regular hours and the Manager isn’t in the office, please leave a message and we will prepare it for you and let you know when it’s ready for pick-up.
Have ready the following information: Sp#,Locationofwherecarisparked, licenseplatenumber,make/modeofcar. They will relay this to an RV Staff Member, who will advise Security.
Warmer weather is headed for us (I think?). This means more use of our pool area and the items within it are headed for high usage. I won’t wag my finger about the same old reminders (hours, children’shours, rinseoffpriortouse, etc.) I do want to give a few reminders about the following:
FURNITURE – If you move any pool furniture to chase those sunshine rays, please remember to put it back where you found it.
BBQ’s/FIREPITS – They are used on a 1st come; 1st serve basis. You cannot reserve them. If you use the BBQ’s, please clean the BBQ’s when you are done. We ask that you do not move these items around, as they can scratch the cement/deck and they are heavy anyway.
FOOD/DRINKS – Please remember that you should never bring any glass to the pool area. Lastly, please remember to check around your area, to ensure you have disposed of any trash items properly and left the area nice, clean & tidy.

Along with great weather, there are lots of holidays, bringing family and visitors to our park. We want our family and visitors to enjoy the amenities available - Here are reminders of the rules.
- Visitors must be accompanied by a Resident when, taking a walk, enjoying the pool or spa, playing pool, or relaxing in the Clubhouse.
- Pool hours are 8 AM to 10 PM
- Children’s pool hours are 10 AM to 1 PM.
To clarify the specifics of the Children’s Pool hours. Children are not permitted inside the gates to the pool before 10 AM and Children must be completely out of the pool area by 1 PM. There are signs on the wall near the SPA that are very clear about the rules.
Water Aerobics are on Tuesday’s & Thursday’s at 1 PM- The pool must be available for these classes. Many Residents exercise and swim laps during the day and the pool should be available to them as well. It is great that we can entertain our families and visitors, but it is important that our amenities be available for our residents, and they are willing to share the pool with children and our guests IF the rules are respected.
Your Resident Advocate Group, Debbie, Leanne, Rod, and Lee, have the Parks Rules & Regulations if you need us to look up the information you need.
This information is available on the website: https://www.millenniumhousing.net/ Click on Communities- Then Rancho Vallecitos. The user ID: VALLECITOS (all caps) Password: VIEW (all caps).
Until next time, don’t hesitate to call, text, or email any member of the R.A.G. team, we are ready and willing to listen to your concerns and answer your questions.
Our numbers are on the Who’s Who page in THE VIEW.
Dear Residents,
Once again, this year, Interfaith Community Services wants to give a huge “thank you” to the residents of Rancho Vallecitos, for your generosity in donating 300 new pairs of socks, to give to our homeless clients and those in need.
We are so very grateful to you, because there’s nothing like a new pair of socks that provides comfort and warmth to both adults and kids.
Thanks again for your wonderful gift!
Sincerely,
Mary Covher, Volunteer Coordinator

As reported in the May issue of The View, we have received calls regarding the very loud music coming from the neighborhood below our Park. With the great weather and warm evenings, there will be more parties. If the music is too loud, please call the Sheriff. Although we agree it is frustrating and annoying, the Neighborhood Watch team cannot stop the noise, but as a group we might be able to have an impact, IF we call the Sheriff’s non-emergency number, 760-510-5200, every time the music gets loud.
Since we won’t have the exact address of where the music or fireworks are coming from, I usually give the Sheriff’s Department Dispatcher a grid like, Las Flores to Linda Vista to Rancho Santa Fe to Grandon and First Street. This is what I do every time I call. So if we call often and try to be helpful, not just angry maybe we will get help.
If you need help or solicitors are knocking on doors or there is a suspicious vehicle driving around, we will do our best to locate those individuals and have them leave the property. We cannot effectively accomplish this if our Residents do not call us, call the Management Office, call the Sheriff, call the Security service, IN THE MOMENT, meaning immediately after you close and lock your door. The phone numbers are in the View Magazine every month.
As always we of the Neighborhood Watch Team will continue to be vigilant for our neighborhood and hope more neighbors will join us in that effort.
For more information, please feel free to call your Block Leader or me, Lee @ 760-597-7010.

Derby Day was a really, a fun day! We had 48 attendees for this fantastic event. For those of you that were not able to make it, you really missed out on one of our best events ever. Make sure you try and make it next year!
Our Maintenance crew put a lot of work into making our Betting/Cashier Windows and the Race Table for the horses also. Renee put in many hours creating all the Racing Forms, Betting Tickets, & Instructions, so everyone understood how to play. Rocio and Patrick also put in a lot of time helping Renee set up and get the event ready for us to enjoy
There was also a contest for the Best Derby Day Hat! We had 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place Winners & An Honorable Mention
Everyone really got into the betting and fun was had by everyone. We will be having this event again next year for sure.
Best Hat 1st Place went to Marie Dixon, her was so creative, the picture doesn’t do it justice. 2nd place was Audrey Downing, who had real roses from her garden on her hat and 3rd place went to Rosie Schoppmeyer, with her beautifully crafted pink/purple display of roses. Honorable Mention went to John Symanski for his great Bowtie. Overall, it was just a fun day at the Derby!
Can’t wait for another Derby Day to happen!
