To Our Senior Moments Fans! Heidi Ho Neighbors! Our Labor Day event brought 70 plus residents even with the stifling heat. We held a 50/50 raffle and space 318 was the winner of $110.00. Our first ever Silent Auction Gala which was a huge success in September. Thank you to Suzanne Travis, Tammy Drummond, and Dwight H Surrette-Benner for their tireless contribution for this event and those who offered contributions for the auction. October is an action-packed month. Our monthly breakfast, Craft Fair, Golf Cart Parade and contest, Pumpkin carving contest, Halloween Costume contest, and Potluck. Winners are to be announced next month. In November we can look forward to our monthly breakfast, and our Thanksgiving gathering. December brings our Christmas gathering event with our gift exchange ($25.00 minimum gift) and this year we are adding caroling in the park for those who would like to join the festivity of caroling. Dates to be announced soon. We are so lucky to live in our community and embrace the time we get to gather and share our lives with one another. Due to the rising cost of food starting in January 2027 Senior Moments breakfast will go up to $7.00 per person. Senior Moments Notes  We serve coffee/water at functions and sometimes Mimosas at our breakfasts. You may bring your own drink in your own covered container.

 For potlucks please bring a main or side dish to serve at least 6 people!  We never need rolls, (never).  Breakfasts are 9 to 11, dinners start at 5 pm & we socialize, & have munchies to tide you over till dinner is served at 5:30/6, except for special events.

 White Elephant Sale Potluck bidding starts at 5 and dinner follows the bidding/sale. Donations must be clean and in good shape.

 We invite everyone to come get involved. There is no better way to get to know your neighbors! We love our volunteers and their ideas and suggestions!!

We sitioned from simple black and white line art to full color digital graphics, thanx to several people in our park who do such a great job! In less than a two-hour drive from here you can arrive at a magnificent botanical garden, art museum, and reference library known as the Huntington Library. It is a world-renowned cultural research and educational center located in San Marino, CA next door to Pasadena. Set on an historic estate once owned by railroad magnate Henry E. Huntington and his wife Arabella. It was established in 1919 and opened to the public in 1928. Approximately 130 acres featuring 16 specialized gardens. Some of which are the Entry Court Garden, Gift Shop and Dining Pavilion, Rose Garden and Tea Pavilion, Cycad Garden, Cactus Garden, Children’s Garden, and Conservatory.

The museum displays a famous Gainsborough painting “The Blue Boy” and the library displays one of the few Gutenberg Bibles surviving today. The Japanese Garden has ponds and streams sheltered by artistically shaped pine trees. It puts on quite a show in the springtime when hundreds of azaleas bloom. There is also a separate tea house where a demonstration of an ancient tea ceremony can be viewed. There is also a Zen Garden bordered by an ever-changing display of Bonsai trees. 7

The Chinese Garden is like stepping into another world. The pavement and rock sculptures have been meticulously reconstructed by many Chinese artisans brought to the garden for this specific purpose. There are moon gates, temples, and statuary all overlooking a magnificent lily pond. Along a meandering path you come to a rock sculpture that one can pass through while water cascades over your head and into the lily pond. A breath-taking sea of camellias reaches their peak bloom period during January and February.

Again, go to the webpage on the last Thursday of the month to obtain up to 5 tickets for the following week. In October vegetables to direct sow: Carrots, Beets, Radishes, Spinach, Lettuce, Arugula, and Swiss Chard. California poppies, sweet peas, and wildflowers. DID YOU KNOW YOU CAN GET TO THE SAN DIEGO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT FOR $3.25 A great way to get to and from the San Diego Airport is the Coaster and it only costs $3.25 if you are a senior. You can park for free at the transit center parking lot. Just call NCTD 760-966-6700 when you park your car and give them your plate #, make and model and the length of your trip. Catch the Coaster to THE Old Town Station and then transfer to the FREE San Diego Flyer airport shuttle that drops you off right in front of Terminal 1 or Terminal 2. Route Steps • Step 1: Board the COASTER at your nearest station (Oceanside) and ride south to the Old Town Transit Center station • Step 2: Exit the train and walk to the east side of the Old Town station depot building to find the San Diego Flyer pick-up are • Step 3: Ride the free electric shuttle directly to the airport's Transportation Plaza outside the terminals. Helpful Details • Shuttle Frequency: The San Diego Flyer runs every 20 to 30 minutes, seven days a week. • Hours: The shuttle operates from roughly 4:45 a.m. to 12:30 a.m., timed to match train arri • Alternative Route: You can also take the COASTER to the final downtown stop at the Santa Fe Depot and catch the MTS Route 992 bus to the airport.

From Sharon’s E-Blast Public Service Announcement August 27th around 8:40pm you may have heard a helicopter sweeping over our neighborhood. There was a message on a loudspeaker. Quite often it is hard to understand what they are saying.

Active Public Announcement

(Oceanside): The Sheriff's Office is assisting Oceanside Police in looking for a wanted suspect. Searching for a Hispanic male adult, approximately 47 years old, 5 feet 7 inches, 150 pounds, medium build. He is wearing a red shirt and has a tattoo on his neck. If you see this individual, call 9 1 1. The Sheriff's ASTREA (Aerial Support to Regional Enforcement Agencies) helicopter uses a loudspeaker when searching for a missing person or suspect. Announcements are also made during critical incidents such as a SWAT standoff, disasters, crowd management events or to give people a shelter in place notification. If there is more than one active broadcast at any given time, you have the option to choose the message that impacts your location. (While this program is free, you might have to pay to receive text messages depending on your phone plan). Sheriff's ASTREA is a countywide asset that has been providing support to the Sheriff's Office and partner agencies since 1971. It currently has nine helicopters. It averages 2,000 missions each year to support patrol, as well as fire and rescue calls around the clock

HOMEOWNERS ADVISORY COMMITTEE GENERAL MEETING MINUTES Saturday, September 5, 2026, 10:30 am ~ Clubhouse 1 and also by Zoom Members Present: Veda Baack, Sandy Beal, Sharon Kloosterman, Suzy Kronenberger, Tom Kronenberger, Shelly Parker, Annette Schuneman (Zoom) Members Absent: Call Meeting to Order: Sandy Beal called the meeting to order at 10:33am Legislative Report: Tom Kronenberger AB 635 (Mobilehome Residency Law) Allowing HCD to refer up to 25 of the most egregious landlords to the attorney general was passed and is on the Governor’s desk to sign. Housing Commission Meeting Update: Shelly Parker We have a new housing commissioner, Christopher Grande-Agostinho. There was intensive discussion about applying for housing vouchers: income qualification and eligibility. We celebrated Housing Commissioner Chair Inez Williams, who has elected to retire after more than 20 years of service. Shelly announced she is having knee replacement surgery in the very near future. Lot Inspection Information: Sandy Beal Lot Inspections will resume with Jackie Bickford on October 12 including Spaces 217-324. Letters will be mailed to this group giving them 30-day notice. Sandy is planning to accompany Jackie as she makes her rounds. Treasurer’s Report: Shelly Parker Shelly reported we had a CD that matured. Mission Federal had a good CD rate & re-upped it. We had a lot of money in the account at 2.15% so we made a decision and moved $8,000 cash into a new CD. One is getting 3.93% and the other one 4.01%. Shelly added that HAC has low overhead. We print out of our own pockets and we have a collection jar at the table when you sign in for the HAC meeting. We bought two brand new batteries for our AED that was $300

Election of HAC Board Members November 7, 2026 Four people are up for re-election this year: Veda Baack, Tom Kronenberger, Shelly Parker, and Annette Schuneman. They all agreed to run again but will be happy for anyone interested in throwing their hat into the ring. We will provide a candidate form at the next HAC meeting. If no one is interested in running, they will continue to serve. Resident’s Questions & Concerns: Resident brought up utility issues, saying they paid out of pocket for maintenance issues. They were not aware that Star was obligated to fix and pay. One very elderly homeowner was repeatedly told by Star Mgt. the electrical flickering and issues with microwave in their home was not the parks problem to fix. The resident exhausted her savings of $5,280, which did not fix the problems. Only after the parks transformer blew up, did the park fix the problem. Park’s electrician never bothered to check the transformer. The MRLPP attorney awarded the family $5,280, but Star has refused to pay it. The brand-new law written and supported by GSMOL, “AB 635” gives the MRLPP program the power to prosecute. Another example is water pressure regulators. Water pressure affects the pipes and appliances. Problems have occurred when main water supply is turned back on too fast after being shut down for repairs. That is how

Con’t Problems occur. From dirt in the lines to too much pressure and water shut-offs are fairly often. High water pressure causes problems with a broken toilet and another resident had problem with their ice maker in the refrigerator. It is good to use the tub or outdoor faucet when turning water back on. Their plumber suggested if leaving town, turn off the ice maker and toilets during their absence. Tim Varner noticed a transient walk into the CH1 laundry room with a bedroll and a duffle bag and was in the process of washing his clothes. Tim approached the young man and asked where do you live? The man who was later identified as Ryan said he lives here in the park and got belligerent with Tim. Tim didn’t want any problems, left and returned home. Doreen, Tim’s wife called the office number (760) 7571020 and the answering service said they will notify the on-call person. She asked to have the on-call person call her--no one called. The answering service explained she was having a hard time getting anyone to answer. So Doreen decided to call the non-emergency police dispatcher who asked, well don’t you have anyone in RSLR that can do a citizen’s arrest? A police officer finally arrived 45 minutes after the call to dispatch and after he mistakenly went to the CH2 laundry room first. The officer said he asked the transient if he lives here. He produced ID (with no space number) and a key. The officer left without running his license. Ryan is known to have a restraining order against him from a woman in RSLR (not sure if it is still in effect). A few residents in the meeting piped up and said Ryan is a nice guy and does yard work and caretaking duties. A resident had given Ryan a key not only does it open the laundry room door but that key can also open the pool gate as well as the cupboard for the hose in the car wash area. The police office said if we see Ryan in the park again, to please take a picture and call the police department, they will come and talk to Ryan and run his license. Sandy Beal said every year we send a letter to park owner John Saunders to say we wish to buy the park and we request to have the first right of refusal. Sandy suggested we could set up a committee, would need 60% interested residents, mutual shares were sold at a reasonable buy-in rate, we could own this park, we would need to put the budget together for the park to be ready in advance to buy the park. Join GSMOL! You can’t protect yourself if you don’t know your rights! GSMOL is helping to write those laws! Also! Come and see what goes on in a City Council meeting. If you need a ride, just let Sandy or Shelly know. Announcements: Monday we are celebrating Labor Day at CH2. Senior Moments will supply hot dogs and hot dog buns. Please bring a dish to pass to feed 6. Jorge Estrada heard a person playing jazz at a recent outing. He was so impressed he asked if he would entertain us at our Labor Day Picnic and the gentleman agreed! Come to the picnic and enjoy live music! Disaster preparedness contacted someone has some classes on Saturdays but trying to get this person to come to Monday, October 26 at 6pm for a 45-minute talk. Everyone is invited. The forecasted El Nino is coming and we need someone to talk to us.
