NEW THEMED CRUISES

Uniworld’s themed cruises in Europe take you inside the worlds of European aristocracy and French cuisine with exclusive, once-in-a-lifetime experiences. If you’ve ever imagined yourself living a life of royalty, or wanted to indulge your inner gourmand in France, The Monarch Collection and Connoisseur Collection themed cruises allow you to do just that.

THE MONARCH COLLECTION

Available on select summer departures of our "European Jewels" and "Enchanting Danube" cruises, the Monarch Collection themed cruises feature excursions and activities that highlight Europe’s rich aristocratic history. Visit Artstetten Castle, for example, the former summer home of Austria’s famed Habsburg dynasty. You’ll be hosted by Princess Anita von Hohenberg—the greatgranddaughter of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and a direct descendent of Empress Maria Theresa. You will also go behind the scenes at Vienna’s Spanish Riding School to discover the 450-year-old equestrian tradition of the true horse of royalty, the Lipizzaner stallion. The school is the oldest of its kind in the world, originally established to strengthen the bodies and minds of horses used in battle. Today, the school continues to train horses in classical dressage—a method of training which emphasizes riding with the horse rather than against it.

Arstetten Castle dates back to the 1200s. The castle had many owners over the centuries before it passed to the House of Habsburg in 1823. In 2008, two women passed the entrance exam and trial period at the Spanish Riding School. They were the first women to be accepted to train as riders at the school in 436 years!

CONNOISSEUR COLLECTION

Our itineraries in France each offer unique culinary excursions as part of the Connoisseur Collection, available on select summer departures. You’ll discover why UNESCO declared French cuisine a “world intangible heritage” as you visit the famous La Couronne restaurant during "Paris & Normandy". This restaurant is where Julia Child had her first French meal, which was the meal that changed her life—and made her America’s preeminent ambassador of French cuisine. A contemporary ambassador of French cuisine is Paul Bocuse, whose institute in Lyon—France’s culinary capital—you’ll visit during "Burgundy & Provence". If you’re a lover of French wine, our "Bordeaux, Vineyards & Châteaux" is an ideal journey. The Bordeaux region of France is an oenophile’s paradise, and with our Connoisseur Collection, you’ll sample some of the region’s world-class wines. Enjoy a food and wine pairing lunch at Château de Cazeneuve and celebrate sunset on Patiras Island with cocktails and a magnificent view of Pauillac.
