I am a fourth year student at Kansas State University. I’m a highly active student and productive on reaching my goals. I’m very competive person when it comes to alot of my things. Which may be a strength but also a weakness when working with others.

Black
The imperative for a Black Box Theatre in
New York City
A Catalyst for Innovation, Intimacy and Inclusivity
Embracing Fluidity and Industrial Memory. The design for the black box theatre emerges from a dialogue between the raw industrial heritage of Manhattans’s Meatpacking District and the neighborhood’s contemporary identity as a hub for avant-garde art.
The concept centers on the idea of “Transformative porosity” a structure that oscillates between solid and void. Creating a monument to reflect the adaptive nature of both the black bosx theatre and the district itself. The building is conceieved as a “Machine for performance”. Where form and function are intertwined to create harmony.
Program Adjacency-
Builing is split between to programs Front and Back of house. front house is typically used by concessions and the public. Back of house is grouped with artist and theatre tech.

Program flow
The building’s massing is stratigically bisected to delineate the front of house and back of house for program tocreat dynamic tenision between public vs private. Inspired from the sketch of the “Donald Judd’s New York home + Studio” -a spacee that masterfully balances minalism with design emphasis on axial alignment and framed sightlines to heighten perspectival awarness. Here, the act of separation becomes a narrative device. echoing the theater’s own interplay of revelation and concealment.

project description
Nestled within the maritime heritage of Island Gardens, directly facing the Queen’s House- a 17th Centuryy emblem of Britain’s naval prowess- the Royal Naval Archive deploys a steel long-span system to harmonize innovation with historical resonance. The steel trusses, engineered for both structural integrity and aesthetic grace, evoke the dispined rigor of naval engineering. Their lattice forms recalling the skeletal frameworks of warships.
Advanced fabricationtechniques allow these trusses to span expansivly. Clad in ETFE pillows, the building’s facade introduces a luminous, fluid counterpoint to the steel rigidity. The ehtylene tetrafluoroethylene cushions, inflated to form dynamic, salil like membranes, diffuse natural light to safeguard delicate artifacts while evoking the billowing sails of the Royal Navy. As a repository of naval history, the archieve becomes a tactile chord of innovation, its architecture a bridge between the craftsmanship of the Age of Sail and the cutting edge engineering that continues to define London’s skyline, reaffirming the enduring bond between the city, its river, and its seafaring legacy.
site map
The interplay of tension cabling, steel trusses, and ETFE pillows crafts a visual and spatial harmony that engages viewers through contrasts of strengh and lightness. Overhead, longspan steel trusses, open interiors and escape through the exterior. Suspended within the framework, tension cables stablize the roof and modules that contain the archives. ETFE pillows add a soft but luminous quality with their translucent, air filled forms diffusing sunlight into a gentle glow. Together, these elements create a tactile dialogue between solid and ethereal, where the bold lines of trusses ground the space. To the observers, the structure becomes a study of balance: an engineered celebration of how materials and form can coalesce to shape what we see as a machine.
