A: Most pharmaceutical companies meet in person to engage with key stakeholders but travel restrictions imposed during the pandemic led companies to turn to virtual alternatives to interact with their client base. The pandemic also accelerated the use of virtual platforms for internal engagement. COVID-19 made the industry adopt in 24 months what in other circumstances would have taken five to seven years. Thanks to this greater experience with virtual engagement technologies, businesses have recognized that technology adoption is no longer an innovation but a necessity for business continuity.

Pharmaceutical and medical devices companies have also embraced virtual engagement technologies when engaging physicians and patients. Q: How have trials for Takeda’s dengue vaccine turned out and what is the importance of this development?

A: This vaccine has been in clinical development for over five years. The first regulatory submission was just introduced this year and we are looking forward to the results as this vaccine will bring hope and opportunities to the Mexican population. With this vaccine, Takeda is preventing the health complications that arise from hemorrhagic dengue. The company is also seeking to add to the primary care of this disease. At Takeda, we are still working to make the vaccine fully available because we know how much it would mean to Mexico.

Mexico will participate in the vaccine’s development through clinical trials, which will allow scientists to observe how the solution affects participants and generate scientific evidence.

Q: What motivated the development of your communication software?

A: Our mission is to connect the world of life sciences and healthcare. Investment in technology is mainly focused on big data analytics for better decision-making but there has been very little investment in solving communications problems among the different actors within these two sectors. All companies in life sciences and healthcare need to be in constant communication with their consumers, from payers to physicians. Normally, the way to do this is by hosting a presential or virtual meeting with all these actors together. We transformed this into a virtual platform.

Within3 has built a virtual engagement platform that allows life sciences and health companies to bring together all their different stakeholders into an online space that generates engagement by offering a trusted venue to gain deep insight into the marketplace, to collaborate on products or treatments and to co-work on publications, with a spectrum of other activities along the way.

Within3 strives for better, faster, cheaper and safer communications networks for our clients. Furthermore, we created a model that allows physicians and patients to help life sciences and health companies bring their treatments to the market.
