This edition is dedicated to People We Love - a celebration of the visionary talents who aren’t just making waves in entertainment but are actively redefining what it means to lead with authenticity.
In an era of constant change, entertainment remains our most potent tool for advocacy and connection. From the stage to the screen, LGBTQ+ trailblazers are moving beyond mere representation to deliver stories that are raw, honest, and unapologetic. We celebrate them not just for their craft, but for the courage it takes to stand in their truth.
Our exclusive cover story features a man whose journey has resonated with millions. David Archuleta has evolved from a teenage pop sensation into a powerful voice for self-acceptance. As he prepares to headline the 10th anniversary of Cathedral City LGBT+ Days this March, David sits down with us to discuss his path of faith, identity, and the liberation found in living out loud. His story is a testament to the strength found in vulnerability, making him a true icon for our times.
Beyond our cover story, we’ve packed this issue with essential lifestyle guides to keep you inspired. Our Grooming Guide for the Discerning Man feature breaks down the top trends of 2026—from skin care to beard care, along with some essential tips for Winter. For those with wanderlust, we journey to Dublin, home of Ireland’s legendary queer hospitality, and then head to Heidiland, a vacation region in Eastern Switzerland with breathtaking alps, and healing hot springs.
At Metrosource, we believe that showing up matters. Beyond the spotlight, we continue to scout global destinations, curated dining, and local shops that prioritize the LGBTQ+ traveler. In a climate where hard-won protections often feel under threat, our “purse power” is a form of activism. By choosing to spend our time and resources at establishments that champion equity and respect, we send a clear message that progress will not be undone. We are committed to lifting up the spaces that honor our identities and treat every individual with the dignity they deserve.
Thank you for being part of this journey. We are honored to share these stories with you and grateful for the vibrant people and places that make our world infinitely more colorful.

AUGUST PONTHIER HAS BEEN RELEASING MUSIC SINCE 2021, AND THEIR LONG-AWAITED DEBUT ALBUM IS ALMOST HERE. Lead single “Handsome” evokes the sounds of classic country-pop (pedal steel and everything) while wandering lyrically about the classic dysphoric dilemma of not knowing if you want to be with someone or be them. Country and folk are some of most poignant soundscapes for conveying sadness/yearning, and Ponthier feels part of a long lineage of queer and trans artists using the genre for just that. Ponthier credits their music career with giving them the courage to explore their gender. AUGUST

FROM SHONDALAND AND JESS BROWNELL, BRIDGERTON RETURNS FOR A FAIRY-TALE INSPIRED FOURTH SEASON. BOHEMIAN SECOND SON BENEDICT BRIDGERTON (LUKE THOMPSON) REFUSES TO SETTLE DOWN, DESPITE PLEAS TO THE CONTRARY FROM MATRIARCH LADY VIOLET BRIDGERTON (RUTH GEMMELL). Until — at Violet’s masquerade ball, Benedict is awestruck by a masked, mysterious Lady in Silver. With the reluctant help of his sister Eloise (Claudia Jessie), Benedict sets out in society to uncover the young lady’s identity. But in fact, his heart’s desire is not in society at all — she is a resourceful maid called Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha), working for the formidable Lady of the house, Araminta Gun (Katie Leung).
When fate brings Benedict and Sophie back together, Benedict wrestles between the reality of his affection for this intriguing maid and the fantasy of the Lady in Silver — unaware that they are the same person. Will Benedict’s inability to see these women as one in the same derail the undeniable spark between him and Sophie? And can love truly conquer anything — even a cross-class connection forbidden by society?
Inspiring Benedict’s journey are the marriages of his siblings —including Francesca (Hannah Dodd) to John Stirling (Victor Alli), and Colin (Luke Newton) to Penelope (Nicola Coughlan), who faces new challenges as a now public gossip columnist.

BY CAT SEBASTIAN
CAT SEBASTIAN’S LONG-AWAITED FORAY INTO CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE! A witty, emotional, and deliciously slow burn enemiesto-lovers romance between two costars on a popular sci-fi television series.
Simon and Charlie, actors on a longrunning sci-fi show, can’t stand one another. Charlie is impetuous, outgoing, and basically feral, and Simon thinks he should have stayed in reality television where he belongs. They’ve spent the better part of a decade quarreling over the spotlight and pretty much everything else, and everybody in the industry knows it. Now that Simon’s contract is finally done, he can move to New York, start fresh with work he actually likes, and get away from Charlie.
Simon’s only problem is that people might assume he’s been pushed off the show due to being impossible to work with. And he is kind of difficult to work with. He doesn’t get along with people—unlike Charlie, who somehow tricked everyone on the show into adoring him despite some outrageously bad on-set behavior during the show’s first season. Simon would rather never have to see Charlie again, but reluctantly agrees to stage a very public friendship during the short time before he moves. When Charlie has to leave town to deal with a family emergency, this means Simon comes along. Their road trip brings Simon to places he would never have willingly chosen to visit—and he finds he’s actually not having a terrible time.
The more he gets to know Charlie, the more Simon suspects he’s underestimated his former coworker. Simon also realizes that after seven years, Charlie might know him better than anyone ever has. Even stranger, Charlie seems to be starting to actually like him, despite knowing him so well. Still, Simon is about to move three thousand miles away, so whatever’s starting between him and Charlie can’t really amount to anything... right?

AS WE NAVIGATE A COMPLEX CULTURAL LANDSCAPE, THE ENTERTAINERS WE ADMIRE MOST ARE THOSE WHO REALIZE THAT THEIR SPOTLIGHT IS A TOOL FOR CHANGE. From the Olympic stage to the recording studio, these individuals are redefining what it means to be a queer icon today.

The Icebreaker. Amber Glenn isn’t just a champion; she is a history maker. As the first openly queer woman to compete in women’s singles figure skating for Team USA at the 2026 Winter Olympics, Glenn has turned her sport’s traditional “grace” into a platform for authentic grit. She has been vocal about the importance of mental health and representation, proving that being “the first” is less about the title and more about making sure she isn’t the last.
Watch her not just for the triple axels, but for her unapologetic pansexual visibility in a sport that has historically demanded conformity.

The Virtuoso Advocate. Coming off a string of powerhouse performances, Colman Domingo has become the gold standard for the “prestige” queer actor. In 2026, he continues to dominate both the screen and the red carpet, but it’s his work behind the scenes that earns our deepest respect. Domingo consistently uses his production power to center Black queer narratives, ensuring that the stories being told in Hollywood are as diverse as the people watching them.
Colman Domingo is an Academy Award nominated, BAFTA, Screen Actors Guild, Golden Globe, Critics Choice, Astra and Satellite Award nominated for his starring role as Bayard Rustin in the film Rustin. He received the Spotlight Award | Actor at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, as well as the Virtuoso Award at the Santa Barbara Film Festival. Colman has received the 2023 Newport Beach Film Festival Honor | Outstanding Performance and was honored by the Critics Choice Association with the Actor Award for Film in Rustin. Domingo starred as Mister in the The Color Purple musical motion picture. A two time Film Independent Spirit, Gotham, SAG, Critics Choice, NAACP Image, Tony®, Sir Lawrence Olivier, Drama Desk, Drama League and NAACP Theatre Award nominee for his work on stage and screen, Colman is an OBIE and Lucille Lortel Award winning actor, playwright, director and producer. Colman landed a historic double win of Lead Actor and Supporting Actor Awards at the 2024 NAACP Image awards.
Follow his journey for a masterclass in how to command an industry while staying rooted in community activism and artistic integrity.

The New Sound of Sincerity. Music has always been a refuge for our community, and Gigi Perez is its current architect. After a massive 2025 that saw her top Spotify’s GLOW charts, Perez has entered 2026 as a formidable voice for queer youth. Her lyrics don’t shy away from the complexities of gender and faith, making her a vital figure for readers looking for music that feels like a conversation with a close friend. Known for her raw, emotional songwriting and acoustic-based sound, often blending alternative, lo-fi, and indie-rock elements.
Listen to her latest releases to hear the evolution of queer folk-pop and to support an artist who puts “equality” in the liner notes of every song.

The Truth-Teller. Following the global phenomenon of Baby Reindeer, Richard Gadd has used 2026 to cement his status as a vital queer creator with his new drama, Half Man, a British-American drama series created by and starring Gadd alongside Jamie Bell, produced for HBO and the BBC. The six-part series follows the tumultuous 40-year relationship between estranged “brothers” Ruben (Gadd) and Niall (Bell), beginning with a violent confrontation at a wedding that flashes back to their shared past from the 1980s to the present.
Gadd’s brand of radical honesty regarding trauma and identity has opened doors for difficult, necessary conversations within the LGBTQ+ community. He remains a staunch supporter of victims’ rights and an advocate for more nuanced queer representation in television.
Read his interviews and watch his work if you value storytelling that isn’t afraid to be messy, human, and fiercely protective of the truth.

The Global Pop Pioneer. As a member of the global girl group KATSEYE, Lara Raj is bringing queer visibility to the mainstream pop machine on an international scale. Recently featured on GLAAD’s “20 Under 20” list, Raj represents a new generation of idols who are “out” from the very start of their careers. Her presence in a high-profile, diverse group sends a powerful message of equality to fans across the globe, particularly in markets where LGBTQ+ rights are still a nascent conversation.
Follow her to see the future of the music industry—one where you don’t have to choose between being a global superstar and being your authentic self.
THE GREAT WHITE WAY: STAGE STARS TO WATCH Broadway remains the beating heart of queer culture, and in 2026, these performers are moving beyond representation into revolutionary territory.

The Royal Debut. Making one of the most talked-about Broadway debuts in recent memory, Dylan Mulvaney has officially joined the cast of Six: The Musical as Anne Boleyn. Despite a wave of predictable internet backlash, Mulvaney has handled her transition to the Great White Way with grace and humor, backed by a production team that has vowed “royal love” and zero tolerance for bullying. Mulvaney addressed the situation on social media, describing the opportunity to play the “polarizing” Anne Boleyn as a “miracle” and a “dream come true”.
Witness her transition from TikTok pioneer to a legitimate theatrical force, proving that trans joy is the ultimate act of resistance.

From the Runway to the Rouge. A decade after winning RuPaul’s Drag Race, Bob the Drag Queen has reached the pinnacle of theatrical prestige, starring as ringmaster Harold Zidler in Moulin Rouge! The Musical. Bob isn’t just filling a role; they are reinventing it with a signature wit and a vocal power that has stunned critics.
Catch this limited engagement to see a queer icon at the peak of their powers, bridging the gap between drag culture and mainstream musical theater excellence.

The Queen of the Box Office. Following historic runs in Chicago and Oh, Mary!, Jinkx Monsoon has become Broadway’s “sure thing.” In 2026, she continues to be a vocal advocate for the “Breaking the Binary” movement in theater, ensuring that casting directors look beyond traditional gender roles.
Wherever Jinkx goes, high-concept, high-camp, and high-quality storytelling follow.
Equality isn’t a solo mission. These high-profile allies are using their global platforms to amplify queer voices and defend LGBTQ+ rights during critical legislative battles.

The Steadfast Defender. Radcliffe has long moved past his “Boy Wizard” days to become one of the most articulate and consistent allies in entertainment. In 2026, his work with The Trevor Project and his vocal support for transgender youth have set the gold standard for how a straight cisgender man can use his privilege to protect those most at risk. His commitment isn’t a PR stunt; it’s a decade-long masterclass in active, informed allyship.

The Internet’s Favorite Protector. Pascal’s allyship is deeply personal and publicly fierce. Known for his “unbothered” defense of his trans sister, Lux, and his refusal to tolerate bigotry in his massive fandoms (The Last of Us, Star Wars), Pascal has become a symbol of modern masculinity that is inclusive, soft, and protective.
He proves that you can be the world’s biggest action star while being a vocal, tender advocate for queer liberation.
The Empathy Icon. Whether she’s playing a supportive mother in Heartstopper or starring in the 2026 film Jimpa (which explores the nuances of non-binary family dynamics), Colman has become the face of radical maternal empathy. In Jimpa, Hannah (Colman) and her non-binary teenager Frances (Aud Mason-Hyde) visit her gay grandfather Jimpa (John Lithgow) in Amsterdam. Frances expresses a desire to stay with their grandfather for a year, challenging Hannah’s parenting beliefs and forcing her to confront past issues.
Off-screen, Colman is a frequent fixture at equality galas, consistently lending her “national treasure” status to fundraising efforts for queer homelessness. Colman reminds us that the most powerful form of support is often simple, unwavering acceptance.

I
JUST HOPE PEOPLE COME READY TO HAVE A GOOD TIME AND CELEBRATE AND PARTY”
SEXUALITY FLOWS LIKE A RIVER. IT’S POWERFUL, IT’S UNDENIABLE, AND IT LIFTS US UP AND CARRIES US WHERE WE NEED TO GO. When we fight against the all-consuming current of our natural desire, it wears us down and drowns our soul. But when we conquer the rapids and come out the other side, the rush is transcendent.
Let’s dive deeper with David Archuleta.
He maneuvers the turbulent waters of fame, religion, and sensuality so spectacularly swimmingly. After establishing himself as the boy-next-door on American Idol, Archuleta publicly identified as queer and watched his church support float away. But his resilience is robust, his talent is as mighty as the Mississippi, and his voice surges with sensuality.
“It’s not like a full on sex EP,” Archuleta coos humbly. “but I feel like I was just being present in my body.”
Indeed, his sinewy frame hypnotizes viewers in various videos from the deluxe edition of Earthly Delights. Archuleta soars like an angel, grooves like a god, and seduces the audience
BY KEVIN PERRY
every time he gazes into the lens. “I made room for myself to grow with this EP and allowed myself to navigate the flirty nature of just living. Living life and feeling confident.”
Downshifting into aw-shucks mode, Archuleta admits, “I’m not gonna lie, I didn’t know I was capable of these emotions. I didn’t know it was in me, so I was proud to discover it and play in that place with Earthly Delights.”
Authenticity is the ultimate aphrodisiac, and Archuleta flexes his truth like a peacock broadcasting its brilliance. By raising his voice, he silences the villains… but finding that voice was no simple task. “I have always wanted to sing in Spanish, from the very first album I released when I was 17. I recorded my song Crush in Spanish and I was like I would love to release this, but for whatever reason my record label didn’t want to and they shelved it.” Putting a personal punctuation to his point, Archuleta continues, “They didn’t wanna spend their time or money investing in my Latin side.”
Fast forward to the queer-and-now. “I’m just
in a place where, you know what? Why not do it? Let’s explore a little bit. I’m Hispanic. Half of my day, I’m around Hispanic people, so it’s a part of me. I’m like, let’s do Spanglish. That’s how I live my life anyways; I live a very Spanglish life day to day. It’s about being yourself. That needs to come out.”
So Archuleta teamed up with Colombian sensation Esteman to create a bilingual version of his barnburner Crème Brûlée. The lyrics swirl effortlessly between languages, orientations, and delectable metaphors, equating the titular dessert with a heaping helping of eroticism. Oh no, there goes all of your clothes. Oh yes, you will go loco for Crème Brûlée.
Gyrating on down the playlist, we discuss another pop confection from the EP: Dulce Amor. Part love ballad, part overwhelming obsession, and all Archuleta, this velvety concoction massages your eardrums before working its way into your brain, heart, and beyond.
Archuleta gushes about his inspiration for the swooning single. “Blue is, I feel, one of the greatest albums ever made. It’s so expressive, it’s just so well done and, funnily enough, in the studio, there was a painting of Joni Mitchell. I was like, ‘That Blue album was life-changing’ and I was like, ‘Can we just say that? Can we just mention her?’ I feel like she’s worth mentioning.”
So, Archuleta worked with his creative team to rework the lyrics accordingly.
“We reference some of her most iconic songs ever from that album. They talk about yearning and longing for something, cause it’s like ‘I could drink a case of you’ or like ‘I wish I had a river I could skate away on.’ It was just longing. That was symbolism with that line choice, just to say you want this person, you’re craving them, they’re so sweet. They’re Dulce Amor, it’s a sweet love that you’re craving and you want more of.”
And then something magical happens: David Archuleta breaks into song and bursts our interviewer into joy.
“You’re my favorite place, El Pescador. End of day, been two weeks, and nothing tastes the same. You’re my favorite record, Joni Mitchell Blue. Wish I had a river, had a case of you.”
When I gay-gasp at the fact that a gold record selling, umpteen award-winning artist just crooned spontaneously, Archuleta responds in kind. “I didn’t even realize I sang. Did I sing?”
Um, heck yeah you sang.
“Oh my gosh!” exclaims Archuleta. “My friends always tell me that. They’re like, ‘oh I love it when he just randomly started singing.’ I’m like I don’t even realize I’m doing it. Holy cow.”
Bucket list item: accomplished.
And he’s gonna sing to you too - LGBT+ Days are coming to Cathedral City, California from March 6th to March 8th and Archuleta is the capitalP Proud headliner. “I look at Pride as celebratory, so for me it’s really fun to have a celebratory take on a show, ‘cause I’m known for singing a lot of ballads and being a vocalist, which is what I do, but it’s also fun to just have dancing. I love to dance, I love to go out, I’m Hispanic so it just feels so good and therapeutic to be somewhere where you can just let your hair down and just let loose and not worry about what other people think and just dance.”
For fans who yearn to hear the chart-toppers that made David Archuleta famous, you’re in luck. He’s not dancing away from his roots but rather cultivating them into a groovy garden that flourishes into a towering queer monument to his range. “I just hope people come ready to have a good time and celebrate and party and I might throw a more emotional song in there, so they’ll have

that too, along with the fun stuff. Some dancing. Some choreography.”
Variety and inclusiveness pulse through every sentiment Archuleta utters. Even as he paints a picture of a disco utopia, he stops to consider the introverts out there who may not instinctively crave the rave scene. “If you don’t like to socialize, at least you could be there and just know like ‘hey all these people are celebrating who I am’ and that’s really beautiful.”
But not everyone sees the splendor in a sea of gay revelers living, laughing, and loving at full volume. Bigots lurk in the shadows of cyberspace, suburbia, and the halls of our government to legislate hate whenever they can. Archuleta has confronted powerful prejudice in his very public split with the LDS Church, emerging stronger and gayer than ever before.
“There is really strength in numbers,” he declares. Though many of us consume music through the intimacy of earbuds or the isolation of our safe spaces, Archuleta argues that the listening experience bonds us in ways we can’t imagine. “It’s more than just you in your room or in your car or in a neighborhood where there may not be as much understanding or representation.”
And now it’s time to strut our solidarity at Cathedral City LGBT+ Days, an outpouring of acceptance, amazement, and quirky camaraderie.
“For us to be able to gather somewhere and say, ‘Look how many of us there are!’ - you just feel strong, you feel supported when you have community. I feel like that is essential to our society to have a sense of community where you feel empowered. If you feel safer, you feel stronger and you feel more motivated and it’s just nice to know you’re not alone.”
Understatement alert! Loneliness has no place at this plucky Pride festival, which includes a rousing roster of events like drag contests, a drone show, and the infamous bed races. That’s right, watch celebrities and silliness tear down the street via ornate mattresses mounted on wheels.
Because… YAAS.
But nothing can steal the spotlight from the Cathedral City LGBT+ Days headliner, who urges guests, “Enjoy the music and move and have fun with people who are like-minded.” It took Archuleta almost two decades to find his tribe, and we’re a mirthful mix of every ethnicity and gender identity imaginable. His fans hail from all over the world, but they’re delighted to descend on Coachella Valley March 7th for all things Archuleta.
“You’re there to celebrate being you, being queer, being part of the LGBTQ plus community and how much we’ve had to overcome and how

TO SHARE YOUR ART WITH AN AUDIENCE, I’M ALWAYS GRATEFUL FOR THAT. IT’S NOT SOMETHING I TAKE LIGHTLY.”

much we’ve had to make space for ourselves to have this, to have support systems and to be able to celebrate.”
Support is a consistent theme in our conversation. During his early escalation to stardom, Archuleta shined a spotlight on his spirituality, only to be rejected by the very faith leaders he admired. It impacted him profoundly, but he galvanized the betrayal into advocacy. Archuleta breaks the chain of abandonment, choosing instead to appreciate those who stuck with him through the tough times.
“I’m grateful for the people who support me, who just have been curious about my journey.” Archuleta announces, “People don’t have to care, they don’t have to listen to you. There’s plenty of other things going on in the world, keeping us distracted and demanding our time and our attention, keeping us busy.”
But Archuleta rises above the noise to create a next-level connection with his audience. “For people to take time to listen to my story or come to my show, I’m so grateful.”
Fame yields familiarity. David Archuleta grew up in the glare of public opinion, enduring the prying eyes of tastemakers and trolls alike. Millions have commented, quipped, or even condemned the actions of a talented young man simply trying to live his life and share his gift of music.
And yet, it’s all just water under the bridges he builds, song by sultry song.
“Whether it’s because they feel like they know me, since I was a teenager on American Idol, and are supportive of me in my journey, or they’re just simply curious and wanted to tune in for a little bit and take the time to listen, I appreciate every moment and I appreciate the supporters. The supporters and the people who are fans give you a platform to be heard and to tell your story and to be listened to. To share your art with an audience, I’m always grateful for that. It’s not something I take lightly.”
In fact, Archuleta delves into the darker aspects of his life story in the upcoming memoir Devout: Losing My Faith to Find Myself. We were fortunate enough to discuss the book in greater detail for our Cathedral City LGBT+ Days edition of Guide to Pride, available February 20th, so stay tuned for that.
In the meantime, let’s savor the sweet anticipation of David Archuleta’s upcoming concert, the liberating legacy of his coming out experience, and last but certainly not least: the decadent allure of his scintillating catalog.
“Allow yourself to feel romance and love,” he concludes, “to feel playfulness and flirtiness.”
Intimacy is the best of our humanity. We can’t truly vibe with anyone else unless we

have confidence in ourselves first. Archuleta has demonstrated how he had to shatter the constraints of ignorance and religious oppression to ultimately embrace his inner Romeo.
So, follow his example and follow your heart. Amor awaits - accept it.

TWO DOORS FACE YOU IN THE TAMINA THERME AT GRAND RESORT BAD RAGAZ: ONE LEADS INTO THE “TEXTILE SAUNA” FOR CLOTHED INDIVIDUALS - AND THE OTHER INTO SAUNAWELT (SAUNA WORLD) WHERE SCORES OF HEALTH ENTHUSIASTS WANDER IN THE NUDE. For some people from the States, the prospect of public nudity might be daunting, yet when in Switzerland, it’s best to follow local protocol, especially in matters related to health and well-being. Furthermore, as you remind yourself, Grand Resort Bad Ragaz is home to the Swiss Olympic Medical Centre. Olympic bodies, enough said.
For nearly 800 years, ever since the discovery of thermal waters in the Tamina Gorge in the year 1242, legions of health fanatics have sought out the healing properties of Europe’s largest hot spring. Back in the day, those in search of a cure for their bodily ailments were lowered by ropes into the Tamina Gorge where they remained for days on end, seated in 98°F therapeutic waters.
Fortunately, health resorts have evolved since then, and Grand Resort Bad Ragaz is a five-star superior property complete with two five-star hotels, seven restaurants with a total of six Michelin stars, two golf courses, two thermal spas, twelve pools, a medical clinic which is home to the Swiss Olympic Medical Center, a sculpture garden, and a casino with over 100 varieties of gin. In other words, just the sort of place where you want to sequester yourself for a week of spa treatments and gastronomy. All in the name of health, of course.
The village of Bad Ragaz is located approximately 90 minutes by train from Zurich.
When you step out onto the train platform, you might imagine that you hear a cowbell in the distance. Surprise, you’ve arrived in Heidiland, a vacation region in Eastern Switzerland which is widely celebrated as the birthplace of Heidi, the little girl raised in the Swiss Alps by her grandfather. But before you have time to yodel, your Mercedes transfer to Grand Resort Bad Ragaz has arrived to whisk you to the expansive health resort that fuels the local economy.
Founded in 1840, the Hotel Hof Ragaz offered thermal treatments flowing directly from a three-mile wooden pipe that carried the water from the gorge to hotel guests. But it was not until 1868, when the renowned Swiss architect Bernhard Simon bought the domain of Ragaz, that the area became internationally celebrated and associated with Russian nobility and Belle Époque aristocrats who flocked to the area to take the waters.
You might wonder what’s so beneficial about these thermal waters that flow from atop the Alps. After an 11-year journey through the mountains, the hot spring water emerges at a temperature of 98°F with a well-balanced combination of minerals that promote the healing of rheumatic ailments, metabolic disorders, and neurological and musculoskeletal afflictions. Not only does your skin feel velvety to the touch, but bathing in these waters boosts the immune system, increases circulation, and relaxes the muscles to promote well-being.
Throughout the resort, you’ll see scores of hotel guests wandering the grounds in hooded spa robes and slippers on their way to and from the thermal waters and the saunas. The resort’s numerous hotels, restaurants, cafés, shops, salons, and wellness clinics are connected by gleaming corridors and motion-detected doors that glide open upon approach, and at times, you feel as if you’re walking through Starship Enterprise on your way to an alternate reality.
A member of Leading Hotels of the World and Swiss Deluxe Hotels, Grand Resort Bad Ragaz offers three unique hotels, each furnished in a style befitting the building’s original provenance. Upon entrance into the five-star Grand Hotel Quellenhof which was completely refurbished in 2019, guests are greeted by a magnificent 52-foot waterfall chandelier of 2,500 glass spheres. A second chandelier of 30,000 Swarovski crystals hangs above the lobby’s centerpiece, a circular

fireplace with lounge seating.
At 550 square feet, the hotel’s Junior Suites are larger than many city apartments and offer luxuriant bathrooms with gold-leaf lavatory and electronic bidet. Walk-in showers feature gold-leaf flooring, and the massive soaking tub is backed by a marble mural of the Swiss Alps. The in-house toiletries are infused with the resort’s thermal waters - and hospitably include face cream and bath salts. The living area offers a wet bar with crystal goblets and glasses, spirits and wine, and a Nespresso machine for early morning coffee served on the balcony with panoramic views of the Swiss Alps and the resort’s sculpture garden.
Every third year, the village of Bad Ragaz becomes Bad RagARTz, an international triennial sculpture festival. For six months, from May through October, the entire village transforms into a public art exhibition with numerous sculptures and artworks placed on the grounds of Grand Resort Bad Ragaz. An early morning walk through the property on the way to breakfast becomes a lesson in art and cultural history.
After breakfast, most guests at the resort make their way to either the hotel’s Thermal Spa (reserved for hotel guests) or Tamina Therme which is open to the public with free access for hotel guests. It’s not uncommon to find many people making an entire day of it, wandering hither and yon from one pool to another, indoors and then out, pausing for a juice or a smoothie at one of the various cafés, reclining on chaises in relaxation rooms, then returning to the steam baths and saunas. You might see students reading university texts while others catch the mountain sun on outdoor chaises. The multiple saunas in Saunawelt include Finnish, bio-sauna, infrared, Sanarium, Scandinavian Kelo infusion, Latvian, and a Nera ritual sauna where Banja rituals and infusions are performed around the sauna stove.
One of the more innovative and immersive treatments is haki® flow therapy, which was developed by therapist Harald Kitz. A holistic concept that focuses on the head, spine, and pelvis, haki flow treatment is conducted in the thermal waters in the early hours before Tamina Therme opens to the public. During the 75-minute session, your legs are attached to flotation tubing, with a flotation device beneath your back, while the therapist guides you through the water, slowly pulling and stretching your body. Some haki therapy

fanatics compare it to the embryonic motion prior to birth, and there are times when you might feel as weightless as a jellyfish, as fluid as algae on the sea floor.
By day’s end at Grand Resort Bad Ragaz, you feel so healthy that you’re tempted to eschew alcohol, and certainly there are a number of non-alcoholic cocktails served at the Michelin-starred Verve by Sven. That said, spirits-loaded cocktails are composed of botanical ingredients that make you feel both healthy and high. And given all your good intentions throughout the day, you’re entitled to order the deliciously decadent waffle and caviar, as well as the organic hourly egg served with potato mousseline and plenty of Perigord truffles. The renowned chef Sven Wassmer has earned five Michelin stars for his two restaurants at Grand Resort Bad Ragaz which highlight Alpine fine dining alongside healthy, sustainably sourced ingredients.
In the evenings, hotel guests gather at Verve by Sven Bar around the fireplace at Hotel Quellenhof for a nightcap, or they head to the casino, or for an evening stroll - and yet it’s equally indulgent to fall into bed. A pillow menu offers no less than ten pillow choices, including Swiss stone pine. An indigenous conifer grown high in the Alps, the Swiss stone pine is known locally as the “Queen of the Alps” for its aromatic essential oils and therapeutic properties. Numerous studies have shown that the scent of Swiss stone pine purifies the air and lowers your heart rate while promoting a deeper, more restful sleep. But then, at Grand Resort Bad Ragaz, sweet dreams are all but guaranteed. ■

The trend this year has shifted from aggressive scrubbing to “barrier-first” clinical care. You want products that repair as much as they protect.

IN 2026, GROOMING ISN’T JUST ABOUT LOOKING “CLEAN-CUT”—IT’S ABOUT A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO SELF-PRESENTATION THAT BRIDGES THE GAP BETWEEN HEALTH AND HIGH-END STYLE. For the modern man, your bathroom cabinet is no longer just a storage space; it’s a laboratory for confidence. Whether you’re maintaining a sharp corporate fade, cultivating a lush beard, or simply trying to reverse the effects of a late night in West Hollywood, these are the essential brands and products currently defining the gold standard in men’s care.

The “lumberjack” era has evolved into “sculpted intentionality.” It’s less about length and more about texture and health.
THE GOLD STANDARD:
Jack Black – Beard Lube Conditioning Shave getjackblack.com
This is a three-in-one marvel: preshave oil, shave cream, and skin conditioner. It’s transparent, so you can actually see where you’re edging your beard lines. Enjoy a smooth, effortless glide with this soothing, hydrating formula that’s rich in nourishing fatty acids and phospholipids.
THE TEXTURE SPECIALIST:
Scotch Porter – Conditioning Beard Balm scotchporter.com
Sculpt a softer beard that’s smooth like butter! Work in a dab of this rich balm for instant conditioning, a moisture boost, and a blessing to both your beard, mustache and skin underneath, kicking off your journey to a full, healthy-looking beard with long-lasting shine.
THE TOOL:
Philips Norelco OneBlade 360 usa.philips.com
For maintaining that perfect threeday stubble or detailing the neck, the OneBlade remains the most versatile tool in the game. It’s precise enough for the most intricate grooming habits. OneBlade makes your life as easy as possible - use wet or dry with or without foam. 45-minute battery with USB charging and compact handle make it the perfect travel companion.
2026 is the year of “the flow.” Styles are longer and more natural, requiring products that provide hold without looking like you’ve dipped your head in plastic.
THE VOLUME KING:
R+Co Bleu – Magnifier Thickening Spray randco.com
For those of us dealing with thinning or flat hair, this spray adds instant “oomph.” Create lush, full, flexible looks that hold their style all day long. Nourishing proteins in this lightweight spray add strength, plumping fine and weak hair from the root for a noticeable increase in volume. It’s a favorite in salons because it creates a high-fashion, airy texture that moves with you.
THE SCALP SAVIOR:
Jupiter – Balancing Shampoo hellojupiter.com
Great hair starts at the root. Jupiter focuses on scalp health to eliminate flakes and irritation. It smells like a highend spa (mint, vanilla, and sage) rather than a drugstore medicated wash.
THE STYLING EDGE:
Blind Barber – Bryce Harper Hair Clay blindbarber.com
Sure, Bryce Harper has been the Rookie of the Year, 5x All Star and youngest MVP in the history of baseball, but let’s be honest, we all know him for the hair. The man’s got flow. To achieve the look, we’ve created the perfect hair styling clay, infused with natural ingredients such as kaolin clay to soak up excess oil, and in the end, providing a strong, pliable hold, texture and volume. It’s perfect for that “effortlessly messy” look that stays put through any situation.

Grooming doesn’t stop at the hairline. It’s the small details that signal a man who has his life together.
Oral-B iO Series 2 oralb.com
Your smile is your best accessory. This electric toothbrush uses micro-vibrations for a professional-clean feel every morning. Removes 100% more plaque vs a regular manual toothbrush. Gentle on gums and designed for an east switch to electric brushes.
Malin+Goetz – Eucalyptus Deodorant malinandgoetz.com
Aluminum-free and alcohol-free, this is the cult-favorite deodorant for a reason. This plant-powered deodorant is infused with eucalyptus extract to purify and refresh skin. Citronellyl molecules work together with glycerin plus a fatty acid blend to help neutralize and prevent odor. It works, it smells sophisticated, and it won’t ruin your favorite white shirts.

Cleanse. Use a non-foaming, pHbalanced cleanser to remove overnight oils and sweat without stripping your natural moisture barrier.
Apply 3-4 drops of SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic (or a Vitamin C serum) to neutralize free radicals and wake up “tired” looking skin.
Apply a lightweight, “water-cream” moisturizer like Malin+Goetz Vitamin E Face Moisturizer. Provides a smooth base. Vitamin E and B5 soothe irritation from shaving or environmental stress.
Apply a generous layer of SPF 40+ sunscreen. This is the most important step. Even in the winter months it’s important to protect skin from harmful rays.
A quick swipe of an SPF Lip Balm and a dab of eye cream before you head out. This prevents chapping and keeps the eye area from looking hollow or dark.

BY MARK A THOMPSON

YOU PROBABLY NEED TO BE A LITTLE MAD TO GO WILD SWIMMING IN A “SCROTUMTIGHTENING SEA.” That’s the term that Irish author James Joyce used to describe the polar waters of the North Sea. With Joyce’s warning swimming in my subconscious, I woke into the pre-dawn darkness of Dublin, wondering just how cold - and just how tight.
Not that I’m one to argue with the Irish who have been wild swimming in the icy Irish Sea for nearly three centuries. According to the book on my nightstand How the Irish Saved Civilization, these are the people who saved the world after the fall of Rome. Also, the Irish invented Guinness and if any people would know a hangover cure, it would be them.
We were a group of six international journalists traveling in Ireland - but only two of us braved Dublin’s bone-chilling morning for wild swimming at the Forty Foot. Certainly it was a comfort to be accompanied by a person equally insane, but Katie seemed far more confident, plus she wore a wet suit and Neoprene aquatic socks. Meanwhile, I was attired in a pair of vintage board shorts purchased for a surfing lesson in Hawaii - but Waikiki this was not.
For over 200 years, the Forty Foot was an exclusive gentlemen’s bathing place where Dublin’s notable and illustrious citizens swam in the nude, managed by the Sandycove Bathers Association. On July 24, 1974, a group known as the “Dublin City Women’s Invasion Force” broke the ban, facing intimidation but succeeding in opening the spot to women. The site is now open to all.
Reading an account of that summer invasion published in The Irish Times reminded me of Fire Island’s annual Invasion of the Pines, which honors the drag queen denied entry to a restaurant in the Pines in 1976. Both beaches are now open to us all - and the Forty Foot’s numerous devotees include celebrities such as Matt Damon, Harry Styles, Giancarlo Esposito, and other boldfaced names. Visions of Daniel Craig emerging naked from the Irish Sea danced in my head.
That said, nude swimming in the Irish Sea had never been on my own bucket list, and on this scrotumtightening morning, I was more preoccupied by fears of hypothermia and churning whirlpools - or a headbutt from an alpha seal. Which made me wonder about sharks. Were there sharks in the North Sea? The imagination whirls in the cold.
Fortunately, as we drove through early morning Dublin toward the southern tip of Dublin Bay, Katie and I were swaddled in Bearhug Thermal Parkas provided by our host hotel, Anantara The Marker Dublin. Wild swimming is one of the signature experiences of the luxury hotel, the sort of add-on that sounds alluring when surfing someone else’s social in the comfort of your own bed late at night. Then suddenly, it’s your turn to take the plunge.
Listen to any dedicated Irish wild swimmer and you’ll hear about the numerous reputed health benefits of throwing your body into waters that hover around 40 degrees Fahrenheit. Some swear that cold-water swimming reduces pain and inflammation, and various studies do show an improvement in cardiovascular health. Of course, there’s nothing like the shock of ice-cold water to get the heart pumping. There’s also an emerging consensus about the mental health benefits of cold-water therapy in the reduction of stress and anxiety and long-term depression. On Christmas Day, the Forty Foot is so crowded with those who can’t stomach another round of “Silent Night” that lines form along the slippery rocks above the wild waters.
Dedicated fitness enthusiasts arrive at the Forty Foot via bicycle or on foot. We were not so dedicated. We arrived in a private hotel car, complete with a picnic basket of hot drinks, coffee, and homemade pastries from the hotel restaurant Forbes Street. We promised to share, and fortunately, no one raised an eyebrow at the sight of two amateur wild swimmers - who were greeted by our own Wild Swimming Guru as well as a local Irish lifeguard. Both the mermaid and the merman would supervise us and guide us for the next two hours. Two hours? In that icy water?
Actually, it was more like thirty minutes. Of course, the water was bracing, as the locals say, and it took a minute or two for us to calm our frantic breathing. But then, as our bodies acclimated to the temperature, there was a kind of calm that descended, and we, too, started swimming like the other amphibians around us. In fact, we swam out to the buoy, which had looked so distant when viewed from the shore. There was a sense of accomplishment and a flush of joy suffusing through us as we swam back to the slippery rocks down which we had descended. We had earned our bona fides and we, too, were now members of the Forty Foot Club.

We shared the pastries. We poured hot coffee. We listened to tall tales of whirlpools and rough waters and of those daredevils who had ignored the warnings, at their own peril. But we were survivors - and cocky as roosters as we returned to the hotel.
In years past, most first-time visitors to Dublin gravitated toward St. Stephen’s Green and Trinity College, and only U2 fans sought out the city’s Docklands neighborhood where the Irish rock band recorded several albums at Windmill Lane Studios. What was once a scruffy area notable for its warehouses has been reborn as a glass-and-steel tech and cultural hub with the cheeky nickname Silicon Docks due to the EU headquarters of tech giants such as Salesforce, Google, LinkedIn, Facebook, and numerous startups. With an abundance of young professionals roaming the pubs, restaurants, and cafes, the Docklands feels like a post-graduate campus, anchored by entertainment hubs that include the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre, the 3Arena, and the Aviva Stadium. With an exterior façade that resembles an
upright checkerboard, the five-star contemporary luxury hotel Anantara The Marker Dublin faces on to Grand Canal Square. Guests who return from a morning spent wild swimming might wonder whether to head to the hotel’s spa with its 75-foot pool and eucalyptusinfused steam room - or instead, to strap on a feed bucket at the breakfast buffet at Forbes Street where Chef Gareth Mullins works with a curated group of local purveyors. When given a choice, go for breakfast.
In keeping with Anantara’s commitment to integrate regional cuisine with immersive guest experiences, Chef Mullins is one of those chefs who invites you into his kitchen. A class on the preparation of his Irish soda bread results in a basket of small loaves served warm from the oven. Equally rewarding is a seafood-sourcing expedition with the chef as guide on a journey up the Dublin coastal trail to the nearby fishing village of Howth.
Since the 14th century, Howth has been home to fishermen - as well as seals, puffins, peregrines, cormorants, kestrels, and falcons.
After a private visit to the smoked salmon house, we climb aboard a fishing boat and sail into Dublin Bay. We’re in search of dolphins and seals, although not for dinner. The chef’s menu for the evening ahead includes our fresh-baked Irish soda bread accompanied by Irish salmon smoked in oak and beech woods, as well as caviar and local oysters, roasted king scallops, and various steaks from the renowned Irish butcher John Stone Beef in County Longford. Obviously, Irish gastronomy is no longer an oxymoron.
Below us, the Irish sea churns while the chef and I salivate about dinner. We namedrop our favorite restaurants, several of which Mullins has helmed - and then the two of us are simultaneously silenced by the sight of a seal breaking through the seawater. For a long minute, the seal focuses on the two of us, as if we were kindred. The chef and I are mesmerized.
And at that moment I realize there can be only one explanation: the seal knows a fellow wild swimmer when he sees one. ■

IS A WORK OF ART… AND A WINNER BABY!
BY KEVIN PERRY

CONJURE UP THE COOLEST CHARACTERS IN THE HISTORY OF FILM AND LITERATURE. They’re twisted, they’re dark, they’re fascinating… They’re villains, right? Now think about the goodytwo-shoes heroes who swoop in and save the day. Boring!
We crave conflict, and Van Goth served it up week after week on Season 6 of Canada’s Drag Race. “If you think about it, I was the main character of every single episode, one to nine, and then I took the crown.”
Despite her reputation, Van doesn’t say these things in a malicious way. Instead, she’s just spitting facts. Fact: she dominated every design challenge. Fact: she racked up more wins than anyone in the history of CDR. Fact: she appreciates every damn moment of her rise to the A-list of drag royalty.
“The one I keep thinking about would definitely be the Brooke Lynn Design Challenge when I got to make an outfit for her. I just will never forget the feeling of like zipping it up on her and her just being like…” Van vamps for emphasis. “Not saying a word, but just being like, ‘Yeah. That’s really good.’ And just, like, having the moment on stage with her where I, like, shot my shot and was, like, ‘Hey, can I make a look for you for season seven?’ And she was like, ‘Yeah, of course.’ So I feel like I’m trying to manifest that’s going to actually become a reality.”
Forward thinking and visualizing victory are essential ingredients in Van’s playbook, and she attributes her success to her athletic upbringing. “I grew up playing sports my whole life. I started playing rugby when I was 10 years old. And my parents were just really big into sports, so I feel like in sports, it’s all about practice, practice, practice. So then when game day comes, you’re ready to go. I think that’s just like the mentality I’m taking in life all the time, which is like, I may not get it the first time, but I will work so hard to get it.”
Van’s armor is fierce, but it’s her vulnerability that makes her a true warrior. In one pivotal scene from S6, she revealed her HIV status to the other queens, and her resilience echoed all the way from the Werk Room to her showstopping finale number. “It was scary for me. I think that comes across in my conversation in the Werk Room. I was terrified. And not only terrified, but I had all this guilt and shame that I was holding. And I felt like when I got to talk about it on the show, I got to release a lot of it there. I think I have

never felt the same about it since I filmed the show because it was very healing just to be open about it and to let go of so much of that. And I think so much of it, even in my final song, when I said ‘positive status, won’t let it define me,’ – I’m much more than that. And I’m undetectable now. I feel like I don’t think about it at all. I just take my pill, and I keep pushing. I think to show people that, yes, it happened, that’s unfortunate. I think there’s ways that you can keep pushing past that and not let that one thing hold you down or define the rest of your life.”
One of the most engaging arcs of the series had to be Van’s relationship with runner-up Eboni La’Belle. “We were just always in each other’s orbits. I think that that’s so special. And I think fans really love that about us, because in a lot of ways, too, we are so opposite. We’re so polar opposites. But yeah, we found this like common ground together in the competition. And not only that, I think we were each other’s support systems throughout it. I think that’s why what you saw in the finale episode was so intense, because it just felt deeper than what the competition was. And that’s really what you saw. You saw real friends having an argument that we found a way to push past that.”
And what did Eboni have to say about this season? “As much as this competition was great for me, growing in my own drag character, I wouldn’t have had that if I didn’t have this cast in these groups of sisters. There’s something that I learned from everyone, honestly. Van, you help bring out this, like competitive strength in me.”
While she’s out here giving shout-outs, Van takes the opportunity to thank the first person she called to publicize her win. “My partner. We’ve been together for five years.” Softening her demeanor, she continues, “I started dragging a year before we started dating. He’s seen my drag evolve and go through phases. He’s seen me audition year after year after year, and I finally get on and then to win the whole thing, it’s like, I mean, he just couldn’t be more proud of me.”
Well, get ready to keep the pride flowing, mister, because Van Goth is just getting warmed up. “Eboni and I are actually working on a show together, and we’re hoping to tour Canada in the coming months, and then hopefully around the world. I mean, that’s always gonna be my sister.” Van also teases her onewoman show, which sounds transcendent from the jump. “I’m, like, this giant rose and all these little petals come out. And they all fall away,

and then it comes apart in this very surrealist, romantic way. I think that those kind of things, this campy style, burlesque, that is super surrealist would be something that you could expect from a show of mine.”
As much as Van relishes being the new Miss Canada, she’s also misunderstood. “So many artists in their lifetime have this experience where they make great art but often are not understood until they pass. And I think that’s what draws me to artists, I think it’s interesting. I think even my run on Drag Race, I think some people would say I’m not deserving of
the crown. I think some people would say that I can only win design challenges. But I think in a couple of years, maybe in a couple months, people will look back on this and be like, ‘oh, actually, no, no, she really turned that.’ Because I really did.”
Pivoting from grandeur to graciousness, Van concludes, “Season 6 was iconic. And I could not have been happier to be there with this cast of 11 other amazing drag artists that are so unique and I am so honored to be the winner.”
All hail your not-so-evil Evil Queen. Being bad never felt so good. Congrats, Van Goth! ■
