Shoes on cam, tips from the public nab robber ARMED BANDIT WHO ROBBED QUIK STOP WAS A TEEN, POLICE SAY Staff Report

➝ Armed Robbery, 4

Barry Holtzclaw

The Hollister Police Department has identified and arrested the teenage suspect who robbed a convenience store at gunpoint a month ago. On Feb. 16, about 5:45am, an unknown male entered the Quik Stop at 10 San Felipe Road. He pointed a handgun at one of the store employees and made demands for money. The clerk complied with the suspect’s demands, and the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of money. Following the incident, Hollister police detectives and officers received numerous tips from the public. Officers conducted more interviews, and detectives

Hollister reclaims water

CONTRACTOR RECOGNIZED FOR SAFE, CLEAN OPERATION Barry Holtzclaw Managing Editor

A large pipe carries water from ponds at the western edge of Hollister a little

over two miles north to irrigate crops around the Hollister Airport. Ducks skim across the water of one large pond while turtles bask at the edge of the clear water. Goldfish swim in a large tank filled with colored pebbles and plants growing in water from the ponds. A few days earlier, this water had been flushed

from toilets in more than 10,000 households. The city-owned plant that treats Hollister’s wastewater celebrated its 10th birthday last year, and combines its computer-monitored membrane filtration system with the appetites of billions of bacteria to “reclaim” the wastewater for recycling.

The Hollister Water Reclamation Facility, as it’s officially known, is operated and maintained by Veolia North America, a $30 billion private waste, water and energy firm with nearly 170,000 employees worldwide. The giant Hollister facility, thanks to its stateof-the-art design, is run by six licensed operators,

with years of experience. The local water reclamation team has been recognized as Safety Plant of the Year by the Monterey Bay section of the California Water Environment Association “for its commitment to ensuring the plant is operated safely for both employees and the community.” ➝ Wastewater, 12

Food distribution center is hiring NEW PLANT IS HIRING WORKERS, AND MOVING SOME FROM SANTA CRUZ Barry Holtzclaw Managing Editor

Barry Holtzclaw

Performance Food Group’s new food processing plant and distribution center in Gilroy may not in operation yet, but that hasn’t stopped the company from reaching out to Gilroy, Morgan Hill and Hollister and beyond to find new workers for its expanded Central Coast operation. Performance, one of the nation’s largest prepared food distribution companies, hosted a daylong hiring

fair on March 7, 10am to 7pm at the Hilton Garden Inn on Monterey Road, just north of the new plant. Performance said it would be hiring managers, customer service representatives, warehouse staff and drivers. When the doors opened at the hiring event, nearly 50 prospects were already in line. The interviews would continue all day. “I said, I think I’ll give a whirl,” said Ray Avila, 67 of Gilroy. “I’ve been in the distribution business for 22 years. Hopefully, they can find me something within this company.” Michael Sanchez grew up in Gilroy, where he worked as a stock boy before moving to Morgan Hill as a young ➝ Performance, 8

Evelia Rosso is Woman of the Year FURNITURE STORE OWNER OFFERS COMMITMENT TO FAMILY AND COMMUNITY Jaqueline McCool Reporter

Jaqueline McCool

Sitting in the office of Rosso’s Furniture, Evelia Morales Rosso is surrounded by photos of her family and friends, a poster from her famous ad campaign wear she dons boxing gloves promising to “beat out” competitors and a campaign sign for newly elected Assemblymember, Robert Rivas. Rivas recently named Rosso the 30th district’s 2019 “Woman of the Year,” stating in a press release, “Evelia’s dedication to improving the lives of others is an inspiration to me and many other local leaders. Her commitment to putting our community first should serve as an example to us all.” On March 4, Rosso, her husband Jaime, her sister and their 94-year-old mother traveled to the state capital to watch Rosso receive the award. Talking about the honor in her Gilroy office full of memorabilia, Rosso’s eyes well up with tears. Her 30 years as an educator in South County and her work as a businesswoman and philanthropist may have been what got Rosso recognized, but her charitable passions date back decades. The Rossos own two furniture stores— one in Gilroy on Monterey

Street and one in Morgan Hill on Tennant Avenue. The daughter of immigrants from Miltepec, Oaxaca, Mexico, Rosso came to the United States at seven years old. She says charity and giving back to her community were traits both her parents instilled in her. Despite her family’s financial status, Rosso says her parents and siblings always found a way to give “whatever amount we had.” Jaime Rosso, who recently retired as a longtime member of the Gilroy Unified School DIstrict Board of Trustees, agrees that his wife’s charitable nature comes from her upbringing. He says, “In her family, they really do have a tradition of giving back to the community.” After graduating from San Jose State in 1975, Rosso began her life in South County as a teacher at PA Walsh Elementary in the Morgan Hill Unified School District, at the same time she began work with the American Association of University Women. As Rosso started to think she wanted to slow down and spend more time with her family, she and her husband opened their first Rosso’s store on First Street in Gilroy. They later moved to their current, larger location on Monterey, opening just days after the 1989 earthquake. Rosso’s story has always been one about fighting: for her family, her community and her students. She advocated for Spanish-speaking students in the classroom

during her time as a teacher and currently supports children struggling with learning disabilities through her work with Parents Helping Parents—a passion spurred by her own grandchildren. And then there’s the Rosso’s furniture television commercial, where Evelia Rosso appeared in boxing gloves promising her family’s furniture store was “knocking out the competition.” The commercial, now recreated multiple times since she passed on the boxing gloves to her daughter, Sarah Rosso Bent, gained Evelia Rosso some

local fame. The idea was inspired by Telenovela and also is a symbol of the business she and her husband had built. “This thing about keep going and getting up there,” says Rosso. “It just went with the ongoing theme of the business.” With that, Jaime Rosso says, “She was the face of our business.” His wife says the commercial gave her a connection with South County—she still sees customers on a daily basis when she’s out and about. Rosso says she has

loved getting to know the South County community through the business, her philanthropic work and her teaching, and despite the changes and growth over the years, she believes the region has maintained its integrity. In 2017, Rosso was named “Philanthropist of the Year,” by the Gilroy Latino Family Fund. Jaime Rosso says it was his wife’s work in the community and with the schools that got him to run for Gilroy school board. “My involvement came as a result of her engagement,”

says Rosso. “She helped engage me in what I did... we thrive on each other.” After nearly 44 years of marriage and one successful family business, Evelia Rosso is now taking time to focus on her various philanthropic involvements, her aging in-laws, her mother, her nine grandchildren, and for the first time, herself. Her advice for women: “All of us have the opportunity to give back to our community in any capacity,” says Rosso. “It’s all for our community.”

Hollister School District officials have initiated a new campaign for members of the public to name the district’s new elementary school and choose its mascot. The kindergarten through fifth grade primary school, located at the northeast corner of Fairview and Sunnyslope roads, is scheduled to begin construction in spring, according to staff. The naming campaign runs until March 31. Nominations can be submitted online through hesd.org. The district’s board of education has designated a Citizens’ Advisory Committee to coordinate all the information submitted and report to the board at it April 23 meeting. At that time, the board will consider the information and may approve a name and mascot for the new school, according to staff.

Administrators receive top honors

San Benito High School principal Adrian Ramirez has been named the Association of California School Administrators Region 10 Secondary Principal of the Year, according to a recent announcement. Additionally, Melissa Casas, San Benito High School District’s coordinator of special education, was named the

ACSA Region 10 Special Education Administrator of the Year. Superintendent Shawn Tennenbaum said it’s a privilege to work closely with Ramirez, whom he said “strives each day to create a learning and working environment that fosters growth, supports innovation, and pursues the highest of standards for students and staff.” Director of Special Education Dr. Paulette Cobb complimented Casas on her “deep commitment to students,” particularly within her expertise of social emotional support. “Her work in programs for students with emotional disabilities has been remarkable,” Cobb said. “There is no project she leaves unfinished as she works and advocates for all students at San Benito High School.” A quartet of San Benito County Office of Education employees were recently named Administrator of the Year honorees by the Association of California School Administrators. Shannon Hansen (Business Services), Jennifer Logue (Curriculum and Instruction), Roy Sims (Technology) and Rose Coronado (Personnel/Human Resources) were all named best in their respective concentrations for ACSA Region 10, which consists of districts in San Benito, Monterey and Santa Cruz counties.

Support-A-Student gets $1k

Ken Moeller, president

of Arch Pac Aquatics, the architectural firm that designed the pools in the San Benito High School aquatics center, has donated $1,000 to the district’s Support-AStudent program. Moeller’s donation follows the recent $2,000 donation by Myrtha Pools toward the program, which begins with a goal to raise $25,000 to help students with costs associated with the college application and visit process as well as Advanced Placement exams. SBHS District Superintendent Dr. Shawn Tennenbaum said Moeller “has been a great team member” on the aquatics center project. “He has provided incredible expertise. His work with public pools in the state of California is well renowned,” Tennenbaum said. “He is a big advocate of public schools and making sure students have state-of-the-art aquatics facilities.” For more information about the SupportA-Student Program, contact Adam Breen at abreen@sbhsd.k12. ca.us.

OPINION GUEST VIEW SEN. BILL MONNING

Music in schools The great American composer Leonard Bernstein once said, “Music can name the unnameable, and communicate the unknowable.” This concept, that exposure to music provides intrinsic value outside of just entertainment, is why schools have long made music education a central part of educating the whole child. While language arts, civics and STEM education are critical in successfully preparing students for a college or career pathway, music education stands as an equally important and influential component of modern pedagogy. Visual and performing arts provide students with opportunities to explore their creativity, improvisation and self-expression—all significant lessons that cannot be extracted from a textbook. Research on the impacts of a music-rich education have continually shown positive developmental benefits for students, such as improved test scores, emotional growth, increased coordination, memorization, pattern recognition, discipline and neurological development.

GUEST OPINION DAVID SNYDER

The AG’s double standard

C

alifornia Attorney General Xavier Becerra appears to believe there are two sets of rules about government transparency—one for his office and another for everyone else. Back in 2017, when the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) refused to disclose public records about EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt’s potential ethical conflicts, Becerra promptly sued under the federal Freedom of Information Act, coming down hard on Pruitt. “The EPA is legally required to respond to our FOIA request,” Becerra said in a statement released by his press office. “Administrator Pruitt and the Trump Administration are not above the law.” But when his own state’s legislature passed a bill requiring police misconduct records to be released to the public under the California Public Records Act (CPRA), Becerra refused to comply. In response to the First Amendment Coalition’s CPRA request for records under the new, landmark Senate Bill 1421, Becerra’s office refused to release anything. Instead, the attorney general claimed that because a few trial courts around the state are in the midst of deciding whether certain records must be disclosed under SB 1421, “the public interest” requires his office to refuse to disclose the records until the legal question is resolved. This is nonsense. Under SB 1421, which went into effect on Jan. 1, all state and local agencies are required to disclose files that have been confidential for decades, including those involving police shootings and accusations of serious police misconduct. While a handful of police unions across the state have rushed to court claiming SB 1421 should only apply to files created after Jan 1— none before that date—this argument lacks any serious legal merit. Despite what the unions claim, it’s clear that when the Legislature passed this bill, it never envisioned it being limited only to documents created in the future. The attorney general, of all people, has an obligation to comply with the law—or at least to say why he believes the law doesn’t require

that he disclose the records the coalition requested. Becerra has done neither. A government agency, in particular the attorney general’s office, doesn’t get to evade the law simply because compliance raises thorny legal or political questions. When fighting for truth, justice and government transparency serve Becerra’s political interests, Becerra is at the vanguard. But when these lofty principles require the attorney general to do more than lob legal bombs at Trump, things get complicated. If any doubt remained about Becerra’s allegiances, he threatened legal action against journalists for the unquestionably lawful act of simply receiving government records obtained under the CPRA. Reporters from UC Berkeley’s Investigative Reporting Program used the CPRA to obtain a list of police officers who were convicted of crimes. The reporters received that list from the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. Then those reporters got a letter from Becerra that threatened: “You are hereby on notice that the unauthorized receipt or possession of [the list of convicted officers] is a misdemeanor.” While Penal Code section 11143 does make it a crime for many people to possess the list at issue, it specifically exempts journalists. There was no reason for the AG to cite that law except to strike unjustified fear into the hearts of law-abiding journalists. As in the case of SB 1421, the AG’s office disregarded clear law in order to protect police officers at the expense of government transparency and accountability. It’s an old story for anyone who follows politics. Virtually all politicians favor transparency when their opponents are in the glare of public scrutiny, but when sunlight turns to them, they scurry into the shadows. One might have thought, given his work on the national stage, that Becerra would be different. His actions over the past month strongly suggest that’s not the case. David Snyder is executive director of the First Amendment Coalition.

Visual and performing arts provide students with opportunities to explore their creativity, improvisation and selfexpression—all significant lessons that cannot be extracted from a textbook. The month of March offers us the opportunity to acknowledge the unique benefits of music education through the celebration of “Music in our Schools Month.” This important acknowledgement of music education is celebrated each year with the help of the National Association for Music Education, and provides our schools with the opportunity to highlight the need for expanding these vital programs. Gov. Gavin Newsom’s 2019-20 state budget proposes the largest-ever funding increase for K-14 education in our state’s history. California’s students will receive a record $80.7 billion in funding, dwarfing the recessionary low of $47.3 billion during the 2011-12 fiscal year. This proposed reinvestment in our schools, teachers and students will allow for the expansion of music education opportunities for students across the state. Additionally, California recently overhauled its education finance system through the implementation of the Local Control Funding Formula and the Local Control Accountability Plans, which require school districts to involve parents and community members in the decisions they make about how education funds are spent. I encourage those community members who feel strongly about arts and music education in our schools to reach out to your local education leaders with the message that arts funding should continue to be a priority in all our schools. For information on participating in the Music in Our School’s Month, visit https://nafme.org. Sen. Bill Monning represents the 17th State Senate District, which includes all of San Luis Obispo and Santa Cruz counties, and portions of Monterey and Santa Clara counties.

Mustard beckons spring

Barry Holtzclaw

As sure as Acacia blooms in the forests and crapapple trees flower in suburban backyards, the explosion of yellow mustard on California farms, shown here off Highway 25, is a sure sign of the coming spring equinox. Traditionally, the first day of spring is on March 21, but astronomers say this year’s spring season starts one day earlier, March 20, at 2:58pm in Pacific Daily TIme. Next year, the sun sits above the equator and the day and nighttime hours will be nearly equal even earlier in the year, on March 19.

Dredging continues at reclamation plant ➝ Wastewater, 1

The award is part of the water association’s annual effort to recognize public water and wastewater facilities for outstanding performance. The Hollister plant is now eligible to win the statewide safety award at the CWEA annual awards conference in April.

The plant’s treatment capacity is 4 million gallons per day, and currently treats about 2.4 million gallons per day, all from with the city limits. There is room for the plant to add another 2 million gallons of capacity. The effluent—the water discharged from the treatment facility—is basically distilled water, free of all contaminants. Opening of the new plant in 2008 enabled Hollister to get out of a nearly six-year moratorium on residential growth imposed after a catastrophic sewage spill in 2002. The plant’s operators are currently monitoring

Barry Holtzclaw

In the eight years since Veolia assumed operations, the plant has not recorded a single safety violation. “We are proud to be recognized with this award, which is a reflection of the commitment and dedication of the

outstanding team of people we have in Hollister,,” said Bill DiCroce, Veolia North America president and CEO, in a statement. The plant manager, Jim Heitzman, lives in Monterey. All other members of the team live in Hollister. As a contracted partner with the city, Veolia operates and maintains the Hollister plant, treating domestic, commercial and industrial wastewater and producing reclaimed water for agriculture, which includes table crops such as lettuce and tomatoes, park irrigation, airport greenery and groundwater recharge.

SLUDGE BUILDUP Dredging operation is underway at Hollister Water Reclamation Facility to remove dead bacteria. a $1.8 million project to dredge about 2,000 tons of sludge—”biosolids” made

up of mostly dead bacteria and treated solid waste— that settled in the bottom

of one of the ponds, a process that needs to be done every three years or so.

SUMMARY ]Petitioner and Plaintiff, the Building Industry Association of the Bay Area (BIA), hereby brings this Complaint for Determination of Invalidity of the Increased Building Permit Fees Adopted by Resolution No. 2018-250 (Resolution), Damages, Declaratory Relief, and Petition for Writ of Mandate (Action) as against the City of Hollister (Hollister). In October 2018, the City took action to substantially increase permit fees without conducting an impact study as required by law. Instead, the City improperly relied on a 2004 Fee Study that was not properly focused upon local conditions and had not been updated since its issuance over 14 years earlier. Through this Action, the BIA seeks to invalidate the Resolution as it imposes unlawful fees in excess of the City's actual costs. In accordance with Code of Civil Procedure sections 412.20, 860-870.5, and Government Code sections 6063, 66000-66025, the following serves as NOTICE to all persons interested in the matter that they may contest the legality or validity of the matter by appearing and filing a written answer to the complaint not later than Thursday, April 4, 2019, which shall be 10 or more days after the completion of publication of the summons in a newspaper of general circulation once a week for a period of 3 weeks. Persons who contest the legality or validity of the matter will not be subject to punitive action, such as wage garnishment or seizure of their real or personal property. Balers ready for PRs SAN BENITO’S SWIMMERS PREPARE FOR BREAKOUT SEASON emanuel lee Sports Editor

Robert Eliason

In the fall, Elizabeth Fleming had quite the workload. The San Benito High senior met swim teammate Jaya Waller for 5:30 a.m. workouts at San Benito Aquatics two to three times a week, had school during the morning and early afternoon and of course volleyball practice/matches in the late afternoon or evening. By the time Fleming got home—sometimes around 10:30 p.m. if the volleyball match went the full five sets—she’d barely have enough time to wind down before having to go to bed and repeat the process again. The discipline and focus in the pool has paid off, as Fleming advanced to the Central Coast Section Meet last year and competed in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay. Fleming, along with sophomores Adam Bonnet and Jaya Waller, junior Maya Villegas and senior Mary Hagins, will lead a San Benito team that expects several of its individuals to compete for league championships and earn CCS Meet qualifying times. Fleming, who has a personalrecord (PR) of 25.07 seconds in

the 50 free and 55.32 in the 100 free, plans on breaking 25 seconds in the 50 free and 55 seconds in the 100 free. The quartet of Fleming, Hagins, Waller and Villegas have a PR of 3 minutes, 40.05 seconds in the 400 free relay, and they can conceivably hit a sub-3:36 time by the end of the season. It’s a formidable group, with Fleming swimming the freestyle portion of the event, Hagins the backstroke, Waller the breast stroke and Villegas the butterfly. All four swimmers have strong work ethics and know there are no shortcuts to success. “If you’re not swimming, you’re getting slower,” Fleming said. One of Fleming’s signature workouts involve doing 25-yard repeats at race pace speed, followed by a 15 second rest, before sprinting hard again. Fleming enjoyed and learned a lot from her CCS Meet experience a year ago. “I’ll know how to pace myself better and what to expect the next time,” she said. “It’s just a bigger event so now I’ll know where to push myself and get better.” Fleming had a range of emotions at the start of the season, knowing this was her final competitive season of swimming in her career. “I’ve been swimming since the age of 4, so when it comes to CCS, that will be my last meet,” she said. Bonnet comes into the season more motivated than ever. Last season, Bonnet tried to balance swimming and being a

The sophomore displayed flashes of brilliance in the pool; however, due to the many hours it took to be a part of the Robotics Club, Bonnet wasn’t able to maximize his abilities in the pool. That is not the case this season, as swimming—and academics of course—remain Bonnet’s top priorities this spring sports season. “Last year I wasn’t all the way into the sport of swimming,” he said. “When I was swimming and doing robotics at the same time, I was exhausted most days. I didn’t know how to manage the

workload of both so when I quit the Robotics Club for this year, it became so much easier to focus on swimming and give it my all there. Last year I wasn’t there for all of the practices, but this year my full attention is on swimming and pushing myself further and further so I can make an individual CCS event. This year I’m almost 100 percent sure I can do it.” Last season, Bonnet had the swam the second fastest time in the 500 free and the third overall fastest time in the 200 free in the league finals. Bonnet said he’s a few seconds off to make the CCS cutoff time in the 500

free, which is the longest distance in high school swim competition. Bonnet wants to go sub 5 minutes in the event and go sub-1:50 in the 200 free. Bonnet’s older brother, Xander, a 2018 San Benito High graduate and former water polo and swim standout, is currently swimming at West Valley College with the goal to play water polo at San Jose State. If Adam is ever lacking for any motivation on a given day, he can just think of trying to beat Xander’s times to get him going. “We were both at (separate) swim meets the other day and ➝ Balers, page 17

100 backstroke and 100 butterfly. With the California Interscholastic Federation recently instituting a state championships for swimming, athletes like Hagins have something to shoot for beyond CCS. “I’m hoping to make it to state in the 100 back,” she said. “I have a 57.5 (second mark) and the state cutoff mark is 56.8. In the 200 IM, I want to go under 2:10 and right now I have a personal-best of 2:10 flat.” With swimming being her lone sport, Hagins could have a sole focus in the off-season working on getting faster with Peak Swimming in San Jose. “I trained consistently for months when I wasn’t competing in high school,” she said. “I feel like I’ve improved a lot since last year, and I’ve been liking how the training has been going so far. Practices (at San Benito) have been going good; we’re

switching up our style from last year so practices are more interesting and have more variety to them. We’ve been doing more race pace sets, and this is definitely the part of training I like most.” All of the San Benito swimmers constantly work on their form with coach Jud Shutts, who is a technique-driven coach and has really helped the athletes perform at their peak level. “For me since I’m a sprinter, I’m always working on a fast turnover with my arm speed, along with kicking and doing sprints everyday,” Fleming said. “Jud has been doing some really good things, bringing in new aspects of the strokes that I don’t always look at,” Hagins said. “Sometimes it’s good to have a different coach who has a different and fresh perspective.” In the off-season, Hagins worked on her kick—“I

texted each other asking each other’s times,” Adam said. “I’m using that as an area to push myself just to say I’m better than him. But he put up some pretty fast times so I’ll have to work long and hard to go faster than he did while he was here.” Fellow sophomore standout swimmer Jaya Waller is expected to have another strong season, as she took second overall in the 100 breast stroke in 1:10.05 and second overall in the 200 free in 2:05.94 in last year’s league finals. Waller posted a CCS qualifying time last year in the 100 breast stroke and 100 free, nailing the later time by leading off the first leg of the 400 relay with a 55.69 split (the CCS cutoff was 56.09). Hagins is also coming off a fine season in which she qualified for the CCS Meet in three events: the 200 individual medley,

JAY YARBROUGH NO. PR-19-00013 FILED: 03-1-2019 To all heirs, beneficiaries, creditors, contingent creditors, and persons who may otherwise be interested in the will or estate, or both, of: JAY YARBROUGH. A PETITION FOR PROBATE has been filed by: MICHAEL YARBROUGH, JR. in the Superior Court of California, County of San Benito. The PETITION FOR PROBATE requests that: MICHAEL YARBROUGH JR., be appointed as personal representative to administer the estate of the decedent. The PETITION requests authority to administer the estate under the Independent Administration of Estates Act. (This authority will allow the personal representative to take many actions without obtaining court approval. Before taking certain very important actions, however, the personal representative will be required to give notice to interested persons unless they have waived notice or consented to the proposed action.) The independent administration authority will be granted unless an interested person files an objection to the petition and shows good cause why the court should not grant the authority. A HEARING on the petition will be held in this court as follows: Date: 0404-2019 Time: 1:30 p.m. ROOM 1, Superior Court of California County of San Benito, 450 Fourth Street, Hollister, California, 95023 . IF YOU OBJECT to the granting of the petition, you should appear at the hearing and state your objections or file written objections with the court before the hearing. Your appearance may be in person or by your attorney. IF YOU ARE A CREDITOR or a contingent creditor of the decedent, you must file your claim with the court and mail a copy to the personal representative appointed by the court within the later of either (1) four months from the date of first issuance of letters to a general personal representative, as defined in section 58(b) of the California Probate Code, or (2) 60 days from the date of mailing or personal delivery to you of a notice under section 9052 of the California Probate Code. Other California statutes and legal authority may affect your rights as a creditor. You may want to consult with an attorney knowledgeable in California law. YOU MAY EXAMINE the file kept by the court. If you are a person interested in the estate, you may file with the court a Request for Special Notice (form DE-154) of the filing of an inventory and appraisal of estate assets or of any petition or account as provided in Probate Code section 1250. A Request for Special Notice form is available from the court clerk. Attorney for Petitioner, CHRISTINE O. You should be aware that the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the highest bidder at the auction you will be, or may be, responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned before you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priority and amount of outstanding liens that may exist on this property by contacting the County Recorder’s Office or a title insurance company, either of which may charge you a fee for this information. If you consult either of these resources you should be aware that the same lender may hold more than one mortgage or Deed of Trust on the property. NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNER: The sale date shown on this Notice of Sale may be postponed one or more times, pursuant to California Civil Code Section 2924g. The law requires that information about Trustee Sale postponements be made available to you and the public, as a courtesy to those not present at the sale.
