The arts have long been an important part of the Healdsburg Unified School District community. Over the past several years, we have worked intentionally to ensure that every student has meaningful opportunities to create, perform and experience the arts throughout their education. California’s Prop. 28 provided new, ongoing funding for arts and music education, and a grant from Creative Sonoma allowed a committee of educators to be paid for the thoughtful work of developing a districtwide Arts Education Plan. The plan was intentionally aligned with the City of Healdsburg’s Arts and Culture Master Plan, reflecting a shared commitment to making the arts accessible and visible throughout our community. Boys & Girls Club rises toward a new future ● $16 million remodel brings tantalizing improvements, opportunities for growth By Christian Kallen The skyline between Rec Park and Oak Mound Cemetery is taking on a bold new look as a complete remodel of the historic Boys & Girls Club continues, working toward a mid2027 opening.
The $16 million rebuild marks the most significant project of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma-Marin since the completion of the Roseland Flagship Clubhouse in 2023. The Healdsburg Club, a founding member of the regional system, was created in
1946 as the Barbieri Boxing Club. Currently some 20 clubs comprise the two-county system, Healdsburg being the oldest. Modernizing a club that has served the community for nearly 80 years and its Piper Street clubhouse built in the 1960s is no easy task. The project aims to balance state-of-the-art educational spaces with historical preservation, specifically
