From contentspecific professional learning to endorsements to alternative certification, Metro RESA offers many different avenues for educators to fine tune their craft. At Metro RESA, we are committed to supporting the implementation of the CCGPS and GPS by strengthening the quality of curriculum design, assessment practices, instructional practices, and communication. ENGLISH/LANGUAGE ARTS Metro RESA provides a variety of professional learning offerings for K-12 teachers of English language arts including grade-specific and grade-band opportunities that address the content of the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards for English language arts.

RESA-wide opportunities are offered as well as system or schoolbased professional learning experiences that are designed to meet the specific requests of the system or school.
Metro RESA also offers a Reading Endorsement for certified teachers who want to continue to increase their content and pedagogical knowledge in reading. The endorsement is offered through collaboration with systems or schools. Metro RESA also supports implementation of the Literacy Design Collaborative (LDC) for member school systems. MATHEMATICS Metro RESA provides a variety of professional learning offerings for K-12 teachers of mathematics including grade-specific and gradeband opportunities that address both content and the Standards for Mathematical Practice.

SCIENCE Metro RESA offers a variety of science professional learning experiences for K-12 science teachers including content and grade-band specific trainings that focus on differentiation, STEM, literacy and science content. Metro RESA coordinates large scale district trainings and schoolbased seminars. Science specialists customize trainings to meet the needs of districts and schools. Metro RESA also offers a K-5 science endorsement for
elementary science teachers that want to enhance their science content and pedagogical knowledge. Districts and schools may coordinate to offer an endorsement within their local site. SOCIAL STUDIES Metro RESA offers a variety of instructional and coaching methodologies as it relates to Social Studies professional development. Our Program Specialist coordinates and collaborates with the GaDOE Social Studies Coordinator and metro area directors to offer professional development that will increase the use of best practices within the classroom, and build capacity within school sites. Our trainings provide instructional support for teachers in grades K-12, and on-site technical support for instructional coaches and administrative staff. Metro RESA provides multiple opportunities for K-12 teachers and leaders to engage in professional learning as it relates to culturally and linguistically diverse students. MRESA has offerings that aid teachers and leaders in gaining practical strategies for working with English Learners in their classrooms. Metro RESA also offers a P-12 ESOL Endorsement for content teachers who want to receive the
ESOL add-on endorsement to the teaching certificates. The ESOL endorsement is offered through districts and schools under MRESA oversight. There are three fiftyhour courses in the endorsement and each course has a ‘field experience’ K-12 component. GEORGIA LEARNING RESOURCE SERVICES The GLRS staff is specialized in providing professional learning, technical assistance and coaching for school systems on a variety of topics related to students with disabilities including, but not limited to:
Providing Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) support to school systems.
Assisting students with disabilities in making progress with CCRPI.
Analyzing data.
Facilitating math and reading projects.
Implementing drop-out prevention initiatives.
Supporting transition planning.
Developing other specialties based on student needs related to indicators in the State Performance Plan.

GEORGIA TEACHER ACADEMY FOR PREPARATION AND PEDAGOGY (GATAPP) The Metro RESA Alternative Preparation Program is
a classroom-based teacher preparation option for individuals who have the basic qualifications to teach. an alternative option for individuals who hold a bachelors degree or higher, but who did not complete teacher education requirements as part of their degree programs and have never been certified in any state.
an intense internship/ induction program that seeks to equip teacher candidates with the skills to ensure a reasonable expectation of initial success in their classrooms. a supervised internship/induction program that will help teacher-candidates move toward subsequent mastery of teaching.
Please note that approved, employed candidates in the GaTAPP program are classified as "highly qualified" or "HiQ" per Georgia Title IIA guidelines developed by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (updated 2010). ENDORSEMENTS Endorsements prepare educators to teach in particular subject areas in Metro Atlanta Public School Systems. In addition to full-field certificates, Georgia educators may be issued endorsements in specific areas to recognize additional expertise. Metro RESA offers six PSC-approved endorsements. Endorsements provide intensive content specific professional learning for educators in Metro Atlanta school systems.
