Our target market is a mostly an African-American adult 25-60 year old audience in Essex County who has a deep interest in our local community, improving their lives, and serving God. Our publication reaches about 3,000 homes monthly.

Sis Johnnie Mae Bro. “Q” Rachel Bristol Prevailing Word Ministries was born in 2002 at a difficult time when sister Johnnie Mae Scott‘s mother went into kidney failure and died.

During this time her brother Rev. Willie Jones from Atlanta Georgia inspired her to take this misery that she was feeling and put it into ministry.

Rev. Willie Jones encouraged her to channel that pain into something positive. To take a time out from the daily routine and have fun and fellowship in the Lord. Along with her husband Bro. Eugene Scott, Sis Johnnie has produced dozen’s of Christian fellowship events including, banquets, karaoke nights, concerts, women’s conferences, men’s meetings, fashion shows, movie nights.

Today Prevailing Word Ministries is proclaiming God’s word and sharing his love through it bi-weekly unique biblical studies class at Seton Hall University and several TIME OUT EVENTS yearly and has ministered to thousands over the years, impacting their lives for the uplifting of the kingdom of Jesus Christ.

NEWARK RESIDENTS ADVISED TO RUN WATER THROUGH FAUCETS DURING WATER MAIN BREAK REPAIRS TO BE COMPLETED BY END OF WEEK Newark, NJ – October 31, 2017 – Mayor Ras J. Baraka and Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose advised residents today in and around the 200-block of North 5th Street, where a water main break occurred yesterday, to run water through faucets during the repair period.

The repairs are expected to be completed by the end of this week following the water main break that closed streets at North 5th Street from 4th Avenue to 6th Avenue and Park Avenue from 1st Street to 6th Street due to flooding yesterday.

During the repairs, tap water may be temporarily discolored. Allowing water to run through faucets until it becomes clear is expected to remedy any residual discoloration.

Residents are cautioned about washing clothing if the water is discolored because it may result in stains.

“It is important that Newark residents are informed about public safety activities occurring in their neighborhoods,” Director Ambrose said.

10 CHRISTIAN DATING TIPS 1) Do not be unequally yoked.

Take 2 Cor. 6:14 seriously.

Don't team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? (NLT) If you are dating someone who doesn’t have a personal relationship with Christ, you are playing with fire. If you fall in love, what will you do? Don’t let the relationship progress to a physical point and then hope you can cut it off later.

2) Put on the armor of God daily.

You need all the help you can get in today’s world. Are you spending time with God? Do you depend on Him to meet your needs of love and security? You can resist temptation if you put on the whole armor of God (Eph. 6:10-20).

3) Put obedience over passion.

Not everything we do that’s right, feels good. In fact, usually the opposite is true. It feels incredibly good to give in to passion. But, the authority of Christ needs to take precedence over your physical drives. Society tells you to give in to the moment. Christ tells you to be obedient to His word.

4) Physical expression must be appropriate.

Physical touch/intimacy should correspond with commitment. This doesn’t mean anything goes if you are engaged. Physical touch should be in the context of a meaningful relationship, not reduced to satisfaction of personal need.

5) Limits must be set mutually.

Both partners should take responsibility for setting limits. Mutual boundary keeping reflects maturity.

6) Examine your personal motives.

What is your motivation -- power and control, gratifying your own ego, meeting a selfish need, or genuine affection?

Is there too much physical and too little other?

If the social, emotional, spiritual dimensions are missing or lacking, you are out of balance. If you can’t stand the person but have a great physical relationship, rethink the relationship.

8) Less is better.

If one person is uncomfortable with any type of physical expression, don’t do it. You should respect and honor each other. Don’t push a date to do anything that makes him/her feel uncomfortable.

9) Be guided by love versus lust.

Love is the fruit of the Spirit. From love comes self-control. Operate in love, not lust.

10) Allow the Holy Spirit to direct and lead you.

If you feel convicted of certain behaviors, stop doing them.
