WHERE RUNNING BECOMES HISTORY Chihuahua by UTMB brings runners, visitors and nature lovers together in this event that celebrates resistance, adventure and the spirit of the Sierra Tarahumara. Each distance represents a different challenge, but they all share one same essence: to experience and live trail running in one of the most authentic and powerful territories of the world.

The route requires more than physical preparation, it also encourages us to look, listen and show respect for the environment. The real journey is in each up, each down, each scenery, and each moment in which the Sierra reminds the runner why they picked to be there.

CHIHUAHUA CRADLE OF TRAIL RUNNING

Located at the north of Mexico, Chihuahua is the biggest state in the country, home to some of the most spectacular landscapes of North America. In the heart of this vast territory lies the Sierra Tarahumara, a mountainous region that has been internationally acknowledged as the true cradle of trail running.

Much longer before this discipline became popular around the world, the Rarámuri people was already running through canyons, mountains, and extremely difficult trails, developing an extraordinary capacity of resistance that has shocked the entire world.

For the Rarámuri people, running is much more than a physical activity, it is an ancestral tradition, a way to coexist with nature, and a profound expression of cultural identity. Even today, running long distances by foot, represents a major part of their day-to-day lifestyle, preserving a legacy that has transcended frontiers and inspired runners all around the world.

CREEL MAGICAL TOWN Creel, Magical Town in Chihuahua, is one of the most culturally interesting native populations of this region, it is the entry door to the majestic Copper Canyon, and one of the most emblematic destinations in Chihuahua.

Surrounded by centenarian forests, rock formations, monumental canyons and high-altitude trails, this Magical Town offers a unique scenery for those who wish to take their limits to the next level. Here, each route crosses landscapes of extraordinary beauty, as it connects with the living history of the Rarámuri people.

Running in Creel is not only participating in a competition, it is traveling paths forged by centuries of tradition and experiencing the force of a whole culture, feeling the adrenaline and the pure air that fills the lungs with life.
