This photo is from 1955. It was the first time a Methody crew rowed at Henley in the Princess Elizabeth Cup.

We were closing rapidly on Chester in the last 100 metres when Victor McQuoid, at six, caught a monumental crab and disappeared out of the boat. We floundered for a few seconds. I called a start from my position at bow .....; "DO A START. ARE YOU READY. ROW!" Peter Stratford at stroke, son of Rowing Master Ferdie Stratford, obliged by doing a fast start.
The crew responded beautifully and a dozen or so stokes later we were beaten by half a canvas. We learned later that even if we had 'won' we would have been disqualified for not finishing with a full crew. Photos and reports of the event were all over

Rowing Club Parent Actions Group raised £10,000 in three months to purchase a new VIII.
Headmaster Dr Mulryne is presented with a £10,000 cheque by club captain Mark Conlon in 1996.
In 2002 a fundraising campaign was launched to raise money to build the current boathouse.
