Community Health Priority No. 1: Healthy Eating and Active Living

Community Goal: To foster social change and strengthen positive behaviors around healthy eating and active living to ensure access to nutritious foods and built environments that enable all residents to make healthy choices and lead healthy lives.

Objective: To educate the community about the benefits of healthy eating and active living.

Strategies: To provide support and access to patients needing dealing with medical issues as well as providing food donations for our community through our local food bank.

Tactics and Measurements: Methodist Hospital | Specialty and Transplant will implement the following tactics and measurements, with yearly updates through 2025:

Continue to host annual food drives that benefit the San Antonio Food Bank.

MEASUREMENT: Number of servings collected.

Continue to promote healthy weight loss and support patients by hosting monthly bariatric support groups where we discuss best practices, recipes, and encourage each others.

MEASUREMENT: Number of attendees at meetings each month.

Impact: Through the tactics listed above, Methodist Hospital | Specialty and Transplant will bring awareness to healthy eating and active living as well as contribute to the decrease in obesity.

Community Health Priority No. 2: Healthy Child and Family Development

Community Goal: To make early childhood and family development the focus of system level changes.

Objective: To support families with in our community.

Strategy: To provide resources and support to families within the community by collecting needed items to donate.

Tactics and Measurements: Methodist Hospital | Specialty and Transplant will implement the following tactics and measurements, with yearly updates through 2025:

Support our local elementary students, by hosting a back to school supply drive.

MEASUREMENT: Number of students who reached.

Hold clothing drives throughout the year to support Dress for Success, Project Prom Dress, and other local nonprofit organizations.

MEASUREMENT: Number of items collected and donated.

Participate in an annual Christmas Tree Giveaway event where staff decorate artificial trees and donate them to Methodist Healthcare Ministries who give them to families in need.

MEASUREMENT: Number of Christmas trees donated.

Impact: Through the tactics listed above, Methodist Hospital | Specialty and Transplant will bring awareness to healthy children and family development issues.
