PRAYER

You also must help us by prayer.

2 Corinthians 1:11

dear prayer partners

You AlSo MuSt hElP uS bY PRAYER

In the work of missions, no one serves alone. The Apostle Paul understood this when he exhorted the believers in Corinth, “ You also must help us by prayer ” (2 Corinthians 1:11). He recognised that their prayers were not merely supportive, but essential. Through their intercession, doors were opened for God’s favour, and thanksgiving would abound.

This call to partnership remains at the heart of MMS. Our missionaries and teams serve as the hands, feet, and voices of Christ, faithfully proclaiming the Gospel and ministering to communities in challenging environments. Yet the mission field is often marked by both physical demands and spiritual opposition. In such circumstances, our workers need a faithful and sustained support.

Your prayers are that support.

When we stand together in prayer, we are not passive observers, but active participants in God’s work. As members of the body of Christ, we join in advancing His Kingdom and stand in unity with those serving on the ground. Through this vital spiritual partnership, we trust that God hears, answers, and accomplishes His purposes.

It is with this deep conviction that we present PrayerConnect. This prayer guide publication is designed to help you engage meaningfully in prayer by sharing specific needs, challenges, and thanksgiving points from our mission fields. Our prayer is that this resource will encourage and equip you to draw near to God and to be a faithful partner in His mission.

DIVINE INtERVENtIoN

~ by Rev leslie lim, Pastor of International Christian Fellowship, Vietnam. (This is an abridged version. For the full version: go to www.mms.org.sg/post/divine-intervention.)

“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me ” (Psalm 23:4).

2025 marked a significant milestone in my life. On 23

January 2025, I underwent an angiogram and angioplasty in

Singapore, receiving two stents. I am now officially part of the stent club.

This experience was nothing short of divine intervention. One of our ICF members, Dr Linh, a local cardiologist, had recurring dreams in which God urged her to care for my heart. Despite being shy, she approached me after a service in December 2024 and insisted I get checked. A CT angiogram revealed two severe blockages—one at 95% and another at 80%.

Dr Linh arranged for an urgent procedure with a trusted cardiologist, warning me of the risks. Guided by God, we managed to secure a slot in Singapore through connections at NUH. I flew on 20 January,

consulted Prof Tan on 21 January, and underwent surgery on 23 January. During the operation, the blockage was confirmed to be 98%. God had provided exactly the right medical care at the perfect time.

Looking back, I realise I could have collapsed at any moment during Christmas or Chinese New Year. I had no symptoms, yet God used Dr Linh, who is not deeply familiar with spiritual gifts, to save me. Prior to this procedure, I was reading Psalm 51:10 in my devotion. Now, His word resonated and made sense to me: “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”

I am deeply grateful to God for His providence and protection. With a “strangely warmed” heart, I am ready to continue serving Him fully, living purposefully for His Kingdom. Truly, we serve a faithful and wonderful God.
