SSS in Timor-Leste – ST PAUL METHODIST SCHOOL

Hello, I am Letisia

I am a 10th grader at St Paul Methodist School in Timor-Leste. My dream is to become a teacher “to get kids excited about learning and to help bring positive change” to my country.

When I was 12 years old, my mum was diagnosed with a terminal illness. My father was the sole breadwinner, so the burden of looking after my mother and my three younger siblings fell on my shoulders. I continued to attend school faithfully and I never complained about housekeeping, cooking, and caregiving during those difficult years. In addition to my academic studies, I also learnt how to sew. When my mum died last year, my faith in God grew ever stronger.

I will be graduating in two years. With the generous support of SSS, my dream of becoming a teacher will soon become a reality!
