A Shared Journey

Elijah + Elisha

You are not seeing double – Elijah and Elisha really are identical twins! These boys have been in foster care since they were babies, and through it all they have always stood by each other. For the past six months, they have called The Carpenter’s Way Ranch home, and it did not take long for them to realize they had found a safe and caring environment. Here, at The Methodist Home, Elijah and Elisha are thriving, surrounded by the love and stability they deserve.

Moving to a new place is a big transition on its own, but for these twins, it coincided with another major milestone: starting 9th grade. Now, officially high schoolers, they are not just adjusting but excelling! They are embracing everything this new chapter has to offer. Elijah is eager to try out for track, crosscountry and football, while Elisha wants to try out for soccer, join the school band’s drum line, and run track. In addition, they are working hard to make sure they keep their grades up and succeed academically!

Elijah and Elisha already have plans and dreams that include going to college. Elijah, inspired by the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, aspires to become a bioengineer. He shared, “I want help the community. The pandemic really limited our lives for a while, especially for us kids. I was only 10 years old when it started.” Elisha, perhaps influenced by his brother’s passion, also wants to pursue a career in engineering. While he is still exploring which specific field he wants to work in, he does know one thing for sure: he wants to make a difference. It is truly uplifting to see how these kids are already focused on how they can do their part to make the world a better place.

Both brothers agree they would not be where they are today without God. Elijah finds comfort in knowing God is always watching over him. Elisha is grateful for the many prayers and blessings he has received over the years. He believes, “God led the way to The Carpenter’s Way Ranch.”

One thing Elisha really enjoys about his new home is all the brothers he has gained. He likens them to protective older brothers, saying, “they keep us safe and help us out.” Elisha always looks forward to playing basketball and football with them.

Even with all his newfound brothers, Elisha could never forget about his twin. “Being together reminds me that I am not alone in this life and inspires me to keep going when it gets tough,” he shared. No matter how much these two boys joke and mess around with each other, as brothers do, their bond is undeniable. We are incredibly grateful to provide Elijah and Elisha with a place to call home, a family to lean on, and a childhood full of memories. In the months they have been at The Methodist Home they have enjoyed swimming, amusement parks, live sports events, and more. They are so excited for the new experiences and opportunities ahead. We are so happy to be able to give them with the childhood they deserve.
