GRATEFUL HEARTS ARE REFRESHED TOGETHER
“A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.”
~
Proverbs 11:25 (NIV)
Proverbs is often referred to as a book of wisdom, and chapter 11 certainly offers many thoughtful sentiments on honesty, integrity and righteousness. There are inspiring words which promote accountability, shape character and guide generosity. A periodic reading is beneficial for all as we move through life’s seasons of growth and change.
On one cold and windy day, I found myself in this chapter, thinking about you. As I pondered God’s word, verse 25 kept reverberating in my mind. Ironically, it was not the first part about generosity and prosperity, but rather the latter, “whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” I praised God for the people who have demonstrated remarkable generosity so our kids could be refreshed. You are one of those people!
Your kindness gives our boys, girls and their families a new start. You help us restore childhoods, strengthen families and build up the people we serve.
Imagine the feeling of being refreshed – newness, clean, cleansed, strengthened… both an exhale of things from the past, along with an exhilaration as you breathe in hope
ALISON EVANS President/CEO, The Methodist Home
for the future. What an amazing gift you share with us!
Together, we also need to claim the second part of that verse. In the act of giving and caring, my sincere prayer is that YOU are also refreshed! I rejoice with you in your obedience in your faithful commitment to our ministry. I thank God for you and the way He is working through you as you help His children. It feels so good to give and to be refreshed in our spirit, knowing we have honored God with the first fruits of His blessings in our lives.
Thank you for your incredible support and how it refreshes us. May God see your actions clearly, and pour out His mercy and grace to refresh you in ways only known to Him and you. May He bless you for your steadfast generosity and may you feel the appreciation in our hearts for your help. Your prayers, love and kindness have refreshed us beyond measure and we are so grateful for you.
Warmly,
Alison Evans, President/CEO

After spending eight years in foster care, Malik has faced many ups and downs along the way. For much of his journey, he struggled with anger, which often led to difficulties at school and other challenges. However, through perseverance, Malik has worked hard to overcome his past and build a brighter future. Now, as he prepares to graduate, he looks back on his transformation with a sense of pride.
Malik Matthew
AMalik came to The Methodist Home earlier this year, and although his time with us here has been brief, it has still made an impact. Over the years, he has developed a stronger, healthier mindset, learning how to face each day with resilience. The support and access to resources he found at The Methodist Home have only served him to go even further. After high school, Malik is looking forward to pursuing a career as an automotive technician. Despite the challenges of his past, Malik is stepping forward with confidence and excitement for the future.
As Malik begins this new chapter, we are incredibly proud of his determination and growth. We are excited and looking forward to seeing all that he accomplishes. Congratulations, Malik!
t 19 years old, Matthew is preparing to graduate high school and take the next step toward his future. For the past four years, he has called The Methodist Home his home. A place where he has grown, matured, and worked hard to turn his life around with the guidance of caring adults. “I have received so much help at The Methodist Home that I didn’t get anywhere else,” he shared. Matthew is known for his reliability, kindness, and strong work ethic. Always willing to lend a helping hand, he looks out for those around him.
Currently in dual enrollment courses at Central Georgia Technical College, Matthew plans to continue his education there after graduation. With a good head on his shoulders and a drive to succeed, he is ready to embrace the opportunities ahead. “I’m grateful I have people on my side that care for me,” he shared. As he moves forward, he does so with confidence, knowing he has all the support he needs.
Matthew always strives to maintain a positive attitude and uplift others. His resilience, determination, and caring personality will undoubtedly take him far in life. It has been a privilege to care for Matthew in a time when he needed it most. We are so proud of the person he has become! Congratulations, Matthew!
At 19 years old, Nick is preparing to graduate and step into a new season of life. For many years, The Methodist Home has been a place where he has found encouragement, guidance, and a true sense of family. “I love that there is an all-around family aspect here, and people who come to The Home have a better chance at life,” he shared.
Nick Angel
At 19 years old, Angel is preparing to graduate from Central High School. “I am excited but nervous. I have been here for so long that this place feels like home, and leaving home is hard,” she shared. For the past four years, The Methodist Home has been more than just a place to stay, it has been her family.
Nick has a deep love for creativity, spending much of his time drawing, writing, singing, and having meaningful conversations with his friends. At Central High School, he has been actively involved in ROTC, where he earned the rank of sergeant, as well as track and field, where he competed in discus throwing. With a strong interest in gaming, he hopes to attend college and pursue a degree in game design. But beyond academics and career goals, Nick is driven by a desire to make a difference. “The Methodist Home helps kids like me become better citizens and all-around better people because it helps us find our way,” he shared. As he looks ahead, Nick is determined to give back. He plans to visit The Methodist Home to encourage and uplift others who are walking the same path he once did.
Nick is incredibly grateful for The Home and the difference it has made in his life. “The guidance I have received here is probably the best I have ever had because The Methodist Home provides not only what you need but also what you want, and I have not always had that,” he shared. We are honored to have been a beacon of light and hope for Nick. We are so proud of all he has achieved. Congratulations, Nick!
Angel entered foster care at just six years old and spent much of her childhood in difficult placements. “Most of my group homes and foster homes were not great. There were so many nights I cried myself to sleep. But The Methodist Home was different. It’s so much better here,” she shared. Angel was met with a stable environment and was able to get the help she needed. Despite struggling with anxiety, depression, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Angel worked hard to improve in school. Along the way she gained confidence in herself and formed strong friendships with her peers and staff.
Outside of the classroom, Angel created some amazing memories, including an unforgettable mission trip where she went camping, white-water rafting, and even overcame her fear of heights by ziplining. “I ended up having a lot of fun,” she recalled.
After graduation, Angel plans to enter the workforce, equipped with the independence and life skills she gained at The Methodist Home. She is especially grateful for the guidance she received and the care that helped her navigate her mental health. As Angel takes this next step, we are incredibly proud of all she has accomplished. Her perseverance and growth are truly inspiring. Congratulations, Angel!
Jeremiah
Jeremiah is one of our graduating seniors this year, Class of 2025! After nearly two years at The Methodist Home, Jeremiah has grown tremendously, both in his faith and in his outlook on life. He has faced many challenges, but through it all, he has learned to lean on God.
When he first entered foster care, he struggled to control his temper, often bottling up his emotions until they would eventually explode. Over time, he learned healthier ways to cope, embracing patience and understanding. “I know that one day I will figure it out, I will understand it, and I will move on,” he shared. Jeremiah had to grow up quickly, stepping into the role of a leader for his younger brother. His older sister and brother mean everything to him, and Jeremiah’s greatest goal in life is to serve God while providing for his family in the best way he can.
“Whenever I go through rough times, I feel like God is there,” he shared. “Every time I felt overwhelmed or didn’t understand, I would talk to God, and He would help me calm down.” His faith has been his guiding light, helping him find strength even in the most difficult moments.
Now, Jeremiah looks ahead to a future filled with purpose. He plans to attend technical college and pursue a career in welding, with his ultimate goal of becoming an ironworker. An athlete at heart, he enjoys playing basketball and football in his free time, but his biggest passion is staying grounded in his faith. “I live for God. I live for making my life worthy enough for Him,” he said. No matter what challenges come his way, Jeremiah holds on to one mindset: “Whatever I go through, no matter how hard
or how long it is, through any adversity, I know I will prevail.”
We are incredibly proud of Jeremiah and the young man he has become. His faith, resilience, and determination will undoubtedly lead him to great things. Congratulations, Jeremiah!
Benjamin
Benjamin arrived at The Methodist Home when he was 15 years old. Now, three years later, he is preparing to graduate from high school and take his next steps toward his future. He is looking forward to attending a technical college, where he plans to learn welding. While welding is a strong career interest, he is also excited to explore other fields, such as technology and automotive mechanics. Ultimately, Benjamin’s goal is to gain skills that will help him transition into adulthood and become a responsible, selfsufficient individual.
Being in foster care since the age of six has not been easy. Benjamin shared that his family often made him feel like a “lost cause”, but his time at The Methodist Home changed that. Over the years, he has matured and grown tremendously. “If I would have never come here and met everybody, I would not be the person I am today,” he reflected. He is especially grateful for the staff who have supported and guided him along the way.
As Benjamin prepares for this next chapter, we celebrate his growth, determination, and all he has accomplished. We are proud of him and excited to see what his future holds!
Congratulations, Benjamin!
For Adam, the journey to graduation has been anything but ordinary. A senior at Central High School, he has overcome tremendous obstacles to reach this milestone. If someone had told him a few years ago he would be living at The Methodist Home and preparing to graduate, he would not have believed them. After falling behind in school, Adam had to catch up on four years’ worth of coursework, a challenge that would have discouraged many. But through determination and hard work, he did what once seemed impossible. “That’s why I’m so grateful to be graduating this year,” he shared. “I wasn’t supposed to graduate until 2027.”
While academics have been a major focus, soccer has always been Adam’s passion. He has been playing since he was seven years old and now takes the field as a striker for Central High School’s soccer team. Adam has received
multiple offers from colleges but has chosen to attend Central Georgia Technical College to obtain his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
Beyond academics and athletics, Adam’s faith has played a pivotal role in shaping his journey. His grandmother nurtured his relationship with God, and even through life’s darkest moments, she never stopped believing in him. “My grandma always wanted me to get baptized,” he shared. “Even when my door was shut and I was going down the wrong path, she saw the brightness of God’s light in me.” Now, he plans to honor her by taking that step in his faith. His spiritual growth has given him clarity about his purpose. “I know God has me on this journey for a reason. If I keep trying to get off the path He wants me on, my life is going to be difficult. But if I walk with Him, I can get closer to God, build stronger relationships, and live a better life with Christ. If I try to walk without Him, then I’ve already failed.”
Adam’s dedication, perseverance, and faith have brought him to this moment, and we could not be prouder. Congratulations, Adam!
Adam shows off his soccer skills!
Jamari
For over three years Jamari has called The Carpenter’s Way Ranch home. His friends and staff describe him as outgoing, jovial, and a person you can count on whenever you need something. Jamari is very excited to be graduating high school and eager to begin this new chapter of his life. He is looking forward to new experiences, new opportunities, and making new friends.
Come fall, Jamari will be attending South Georgia Technical College where he will start advancing towards a career in cyber security. “Since I was young, when I got a new toy, I would break it down and put it back together. I have always wanted to do something with technology,” he shared. Jamari has already proven to have a strong work ethic. Through a work-based learning program in school he has been employed with McDonald’s for over a year. He loves to stay active and has played basketball and football for school and for his county.
But no matter how busy life gets, Jamari always makes time for his faith. “Every day I pray, I pray over my loved ones and all the people I care about. I always try to make
the right choices,” he shared. His faith and character have not gone unnoticed. In 2023 he was honored with the very first Chaplain’s Award at their annual Awards Banquet, along with a Bible engraved with his name. Over the years, Jamari has also received Sanctuary Awards for Nonviolence and Open Communication.
Watching Jamari grow into the responsible, dedicated young man he is today has been a joy. He has overcome challenges, worked hard, and stayed true to himself. We have no doubt his future is filled with endless possibilities, and we cannot wait to see all that he will accomplish. Congratulations, Jamari!
Sincere has been at The Carpenter’s Way Ranch since his freshman year in high school, and we are so proud of his accomplishments. He is graduating from Harris County High School and has achieved A/B Honor Roll this year! Sincere wants to pursue heavy equipment operation as a career. Having already earned a certification in that field in high school, he is ready to graduate and enter the work world. Way to go, Sincere!
Sincere
Rico
Rico has been at The Carpenter’s Way Ranch since his freshman year of high school. This May, he will proudly graduate from Harris County High School, a milestone he once thought would be impossible. “Going to school has been huge for me because before I was at Carpenter’s Way, I wasn’t going to school at all,” he shared. With the encouragement of his staff, he committed to his education. While it wasn’t always easy, Rico persevered and will be graduating with an A/B Honor Roll!
In the fall, Rico will be attending South Georgia Technical College where he plans to explore various trades while earning both his barber’s license and Commercial Driver’s License. Rico feels incredibly blessed for this opportunity, “my mom didn’t graduate high school and it is rare to have a graduate in my family,” he shared. But we know how hard Rico has worked to get where he is today. His peers know it, too. They look up to Rico as a leader and a role model.
In addition to keeping up his grades, Rico has been a dedicated athlete, playing basketball, football and running track throughout high school. He has always embraced every opportunity that came his way to learn and grow. “I’m grateful for everybody that has been in my life while I have been at Carpenter’s Way, they helped me become the person I am today,” Rico shared. We are so proud of Rico and all he has accomplished, and we cannot wait to see the incredible future that lies ahead. Congratulations, Rico!
Gracious
Gracious has lived at The Methodist Home in Americus for about a year and a half. After going back and forth between foster homes for a couple years, she arrived at our doorstep. “This place was so different then where I had been. When I got here, it took time, but I realized pretty quickly that I could be myself,” Gracious shared.
Smart, funny, and good spirited are all words people would use to describe Gracious. However, when she first came to stay at The Home she was going through a lot. She felt so much anger and sadness. But, she made friends right away, connected with our staff, and received counseling. Gracious shared, “The Methodist Home has helped me, it has been so uplifting. I was doing so bad before I got here. It was the respect I was given by these wonderful people that really helped, we just came together. There are such good people here.”
Gracious is incredibly excited to graduate. She is currently exploring her options for college and enjoying her time in her newfound home. One of her favorite things to do besides going to the movies and the park is going to the skating rink. Gracious is so grateful for all the fun and opportunities she has experienced in her time with us. “Just being here, it’s a good feeling,” she shared. We are so proud of you! Congratulations, Gracious!
GIVE FIRST; SAVE SECOND; SPEND LAST!
April 22, 1936 – January 8, 2025
Whenever a family loses a beloved patriarch, words of affirmation, respect and honor soon follow. Such was the case when John F. McMullan was eulogized. His granddaughter Madeline said, “He taught us unforgettable lessons, pushed us to be our best selves, and most importantly, taught us the value of family.” His son, Ted, proclaimed “I’ve never met a more generous soul, nor someone who could be more gleeful, than my father when he was helping someone else.” He also noted one of his father’s guiding principles, “Give first; save second; spend last!”
Those words rang with tremendous authenticity in a letter we received in June of 2024 from John and his wife, Marilyn.
“In reading…The Gateway, we were impressed with the stories of your success with the young men and women featured therein. We were
John and Marilyn made a lifechanging gift!
particularly impressed with the story of Alejandra, who is attending Middle GA State University to pursue a degree in nursing. Marilyn and I are willing to underwrite her education for up to four years to allow her to pursue her goal and hopefully graduate debt free.”
JOHN FRANCIS McMULLAN
Alejandra and her son Allan, a happy little boy full of energy and spunk!
What an astounding, lifechanging gift! John knew Alejandra was a teenager and the mother of a toddler, both living in our EMBRACE cottage for teen moms. He likely also realized that kids in foster care are less likely to graduate from college without a strong support system. This was a quiet, unheralded, and substantial commitment that would literally change the future for this small familyAlejandra and her son.
Today, Alejandra is 19 years old and a sophomore in college. She maintains a 3.15 GPA and is progressing confidently toward her chosen career in nursing. Her son, a happy little boy full of energy and spunk, attends Eagle’s Nest Children’s Center on our main campus. Because of the incredible gift from John and Marilyn McMullan, her path to a successful career is

significantly clearer, better and brighter. Reflect on the words noted previously about John McMullan… “the value of family...a generous soul… gleeful…when helping someone else.” John and Marilyn’s actions reflected both “the talk and the walk” of their beliefs. Publicly and privately, they chose to bless others abundantly. Humbly and without the need for attention or praise, they lived into their faith calling, their family values, and their commitment to “Give first.”
The McMullans’ generosity is remarkable and inspirational. Rev. Dr. Bill Britt, Senior Minister at Peachtree Road
United Methodist Church, captured this sentiment perfectly in his remembrance of John. “Lightening the burdens of others – that’s the mission John was ambitious about! Our world is a better, healthier, and more prosperous place because of the ambitions of John McMullan.”
And while it is quite likely John would be blushing, if not protesting, the praise and distinction given to this generosity, there is wisdom to be gained by his example. May we all lean into the sentiment to “Give first; save second; spend last!” as we offer thanks to God for the example, the impact and the legacy of John Francis McMullan.
WCamari’s Journey
By
Camari Sparks
hen I graduated high school in 2021, I thought a lot about the life I was going to live outside of The Methodist Home. They had given me so much; the staff became family, and the children quickly became friends. I was embraced by so much love there that feeling “alone” was nearly impossible. However, foster care often takes away a young person’s sense of belonging. It can seem as though they have been pulled far away from any trace of what feels “normal.”
Since I left Macon for school, returning to help youth in foster care has been my God-given dream. I cannot fully explain the deep calling I feel for youth like myself, but I do know that our lives are not measured by how many people we meet, but by how many we turn back to help.
I remember when I went off to undergrad at Georgia Southern University, I tried so hard to get back to this feeling of being a “normal kid.” Being in foster care has been the most transformative experience of my life, yet in my education, I almost tried to separate myself from it. What I found, though, is that foster care had exposed me to so many people’s stories and aligned me with my calling. I could not fully be myself unless I leaned into that part of my identity. I cared deeply

finishing my degree. My goal is to earn a Masters of Social
The Methodist Home made it possible for me to go on a mission trip to South Florida in my sophomore year through a college ministry I joined. In my junior year, I had the chance to do mission work supporting victims of domestic violence and their children in the heart of Atlanta, Georgia. The Home also supported me when I became an administrative volunteer for Regency Hospice Care, a role I held for nearly a year. I went on to serve in childcare facilities in Atlanta, as well as at The Methodist Home’s Macon campus. In addition, I volunteered at community events for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) in Bulloch County. Currently, I am completing a spring internship at the Georgia Division of Family & Children Services while finishing my degree. My goal is to earn a Masters of Social Work and become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
When I reflect on my journey, I am overwhelmed by the obstacles I have already overcome. I often say that I am, in this moment, everything a younger version of myself would have called a “unicorn.” In the beginning, I was terrified by the idea that I could be both a kid in foster care and also achieve greatness. I knew there was something inside of me, but it was unclear if or how God would make it bloom. God used The Methodist Home to water that seed within me. What I did not realize was that I would one day dedicate myself to helping the same population with whom I had come to identify. I never imagined God had this much in store for me. Self-doubt can be paralyzing, but when I remember my own skepticism at the thought of becoming someone so full of purpose, I push forward toward even more impossible things. When I think of it this way, I am my own wildest dream.
I am proud to reflect on everything I have been through and still have the courage to be part of such an amazing cause, all while carrying the same smile I had when I met you all in 2017! I will continue to be the same loving, caring, and strong Camari you helped me become!
2025 GIVING CHILDHOOD A CHANCE
The 2025 Giving Childhood a Chance Luncheon in Columbus was truly an unforgettable event! Our phenomenal guest speaker, Stephen Kendrick, delivered an inspiring message centered on family, drawing from Psalm 68:5-6— “A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in His holy dwelling.” His words reminded us of the power of belonging and the importance of answering God’s call in our lives. He left us with a powerful question to reflect on: “Lord, what do you want me to do?”
We also had the privilege of hearing from some of our current residents at The Carpenter’s Way Ranch, as well as an alumnus. Each of them shared how their time at Carpenter’s Way has shaped them, giving them stability, support, and a true sense of home. Their stories were a testament to the life-changing impact of The Methodist Home.
With a wonderful meal, an incredible message, and generous hearts in the room, this event was a resounding success. Thank you to everyone who helped make it possible!

Dylan Alumnus,
who lived at The Carpenter’s Way Ranch from 2013-2015.
Dylan arrived at The Methodist Home’s Carpenter’s Way Ranch when he was just 12 years old. Though his time with us was short, its impact was profound. Looking back on his life, Dylan says, without hesitation, “That place saved my life.”
By the time Dylan reached Carpenter’s Way, he had been bounced around and rejected from multiple foster homes. “I came from a lot of people that don’t really do much with themselves. My mother was a drug addict, my father was never around. The family that I did see were not the greatest examples, they were always in and out of prison. Growing up like that really desensitized me to a lot of things I should not have done,” he shared.
Dylan’s early years in life were marked by instability, which led to a lot of behavioral struggles. Each time he was placed in a new foster home, his anger and distrust grew. He was taken away from the only life he had ever known. A life that, despite its dysfunction, felt normal to him. Now, as an adult, he understands why those circumstances were not safe for a child. But back then, he could not make sense of it.
With every transition, Dylan felt more displaced, more unworthy of love. “If I get in trouble
are they just going to ship me off to the next one?” he constantly wondered. It was The Carpenter’s Way Ranch that finally brought him some relief and stability. It was the first place where mistakes didn’t mean rejection, but guidance. If Dylan made a mistake he was corrected, he was taught. It was the structure and the feeling of finally being accepted that changed everything.
Still, Dylan never imagined that The Carpenter’s Way would bring him something even greater: a father. “The man that ended up adopting me, who is my dad now, is by far the greatest thing in my life,” Dylan shared. Yet, throughout the adoption process, doubt lingered. “I kept thinking, this man doesn’t know what he is getting into.”
That fear only grew as the court date approached. Dylan vividly remembers the moment his soon-to-be father was handed his case file. “I thought, oh no, he’s going to see everything I’ve done.” Bracing himself for rejection, Dylan told him, “You’re not going to want to adopt me anymore.” His father looked at him and asked, “What do you mean?”
“I explained that he’d now seen my
past, everything I had done,” Dylan recalled. “He just looked at me and said, ʻI don’t care about that.’ Then he threw the files away and told me he cared about me.”
That moment changed everything. “I’ll remember that day for the rest of my life.”
Today, at 25 years of age, Dylan still says his dad has never let him down. At times, he still struggles reconciling with his early childhood. However, being at The Carpenter’s Way Ranch and being adopted have replaced a lot of those early memories with joy filled ones. Now, a successful homeowner, Dylan has built a future for himself. He is one of the first in his family to not only own a home, but multiple properties. Professionally, he operates heavy equipment and enjoys his work. And he hasn’t forgotten where he
started. Every Christmas, Dylan gives back to The Methodist Home by purchasing gifts for a child at Carpenter’s Way Ranch, paying forward the kindness that once changed his life.
“I honestly don’t know where I would be if it had not been for The Carpenter’s Way Ranch,” Dylan reflected. “It set in motion my entire life, whether it be my success, learning to deal with my problems, or how I met my dad. I am truly grateful for this place and for anyone who was there to help me. This felt like home for me.”
At The Methodist Home, we are honored to witness stories like Dylan’s, stories of transformation and hope. Because of generous supporters like you, lives are being changed for the better.

Seeds of Faith & Love
As spring arrives, I find myself reflecting more and more on the meaning of new life. The seeds that have lain dormant for a period of time begin to rise. As they start to bloom, new life is breathed into them. We have the honor of watching them grow, take shape, and flourish. The same can be said of the children in our care.
“For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.” – 1 Peter 1:23 (NIV)
As budding flowers sprout, the days grow warmer and the trees begin to thicken with greenery. Nature announces the arrival of spring. As the new season emerges, I think of our children. Much like a seed, we give our youth a good and stable environment where they can grow. We feed, pour into and nurture them. But, most importantly, we help tend to their souls and mend their broken hearts.
I will always remember the day Jeremy was baptized. The sun was setting as a circle of friends and staff gathered around him. As he rose from the water his friends cheered and clapped celebrating his commitment to Christ. Jeremy had been reborn!
Later, after pictures were taken, congratulatory hugs were given, and the crowd had dispersed, I noticed a couple of boys lingering behind. They were talking to our Chaplain about the baptism. One of them shared he wanted to get baptized too but felt he needed to better himself first before he could be accepted into God’s kingdom.

Jacob* recently visited our campus while he was on a holiday break from college. While here, he shared with me how grateful he was for his time at The Methodist Home. He told me about his life and the adversity he faced at a young age. Jacob deserved the innocence and joy of a childhood. Instead, he experienced hardships no child should ever have to encounter. But, he found hope with us. The Home gave him the opportunity to heal and provided him with a new outlook on life.

As Jacob shared his story, I could see the moments where God had been at work in his life. I could see the path that led him to The Methodist Home. Because of God’s love, our mission, and YOUR faithful giving, Jacob’s childhood was restored.
His words struck me. Our Chaplain reassured him that was not the case, God’s love does not require perfection. Yet, the boy’s words stayed with me because they highlight the deep hurt so many of our kids carry. Children come to The Methodist Home feeling displaced, alone, and broken. The hurt and neglect they have experienced builds feelings of worthlessness and sadness. But, here, at The Home they can find new life. Under our care, our children begin to grow again.
Here, they find safety. They find stability. They find new life.
It warms my heart to see Jacob guide and care for our current residents when he visits The Home now. He is sowing his own seeds of love and hope into our children. Will you help Jacob and all of us here at The Methodist Home continue this critical work for the sake of our youth? We need your support now more than ever!

Our ministry is doing God’s work, giving His children support and hope when they need it most. We embrace each child with open and loving arms. At The Methodist Home, we have the opportunity to show every kid who walks through our doors the incredible life God has planned for them.
But we cannot do this alone.
Your gift has the power to cultivate a garden that can help children grow for generations to come! A thoughtful donation can change a child’s life. Partner with us and give kids like Jacob a warm bed, nutritious meals, caring adults, and a chance to have the childhood they deserve. Help our girls and boys grow towards a bright future. Please support God’s children now through your generosity!
I am asking for your support. Help us continue to plant seeds of faith and love in the hearts of our children who desperately need them. Your kindness can do so much for our youth. When you give a gift, you are helping provide more than just food or shelter. You can help create moments like Jeremy’s baptism –moments that spark healing and spread joy.
Warmly, Alison Evans President/ CEO

Snow Day!
Earlier this year, a rare and magical snowfall blanketed Georgia, turning our Macon campus into a winter wonderland. For many of our children, it was their very first-time seeing snow, and their excitement was contagious. Laughter and joy filled the air as they rushed outside, bundled up in coats and gloves, ready to experience something they had only ever dreamed of in the south.
Our campus was blanketed in snow earlier this year, it was so beautiful!
They wasted no time, making snow angels and crafting snowmen with big smiles on their faces. Snowball fights broke out across the campus, with kids darting behind trees and laughing as they playfully tossed snow at one another. Some even decided to play a game of soccer in the snow, slipping and sliding but grinning all the while. It was a day filled with pure childhood magic, something every child deserves to experience.

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven
~ Ecclesiastes 3:1
Ecclesiastes 3 is a very relevant chapter of the Bible, reminding us that there is indeed a season for everything under heaven. As I write this article, I am excited to share that I am preparing for a new season in my life. At the end of June, I will step back from my work at The Foundation of The Methodist Home and join my husband, Brad, in his wealth management practice.
For over twenty years, I have had the incredible blessing of being called to work on behalf of children - first at The Methodist Home, then at Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia, and lastly at The Foundation of The Methodist Home. As I look back, I can truly say that my time with each of these organizations has been a blessing. The children I have met and grown to know, the staff and board members I have had the opportunity to work alongside, and all of the donors who make our work possible – each of you has made an impact on and in my life. Thank you.
Recently, I was asked to share some personal life lessons garnered from my work with children –
Things are not always as they seem –
At The Methodist Home, we care for some really tough kids, kids that have been through unimaginable trauma - yet all the toughness and “street smarts” they possess are survival skills - skills they have had to use to get this far. We have to be willing to look beyond what is readily visible and see what might be hidden underneath.
CAROLINE EDENFIELD CEO of The Foundation of The Methodist Home
Children and people rise or fall to the level of expectations you have for them. Children and people are resilient –going through immense challenges yet continuing to forge ahead. We all have to keep trying.
Family bonds are strong – even when we think they might not should be. Everyone wants to belong and be part of a family. Everyone can benefit by giving to others. Nothing you do for a child or anyone else is wasted. You may never see the impact, but that does not mean the impact is not there.
My story is not finished.
My experience working for and with children has been immensely powerful, and I know that it will continue to impact me throughout the remainder of my life. I am grateful for the opportunity I have had to use my gifts and talents in helping God’s children. I know without a doubt that I have received far more than I have given.
My time at The Home and The Foundation has been an extraordinary blessing for me. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be part of the ministry here, and thank you for being part of this amazing season in my life.
