A message from Deborah Mann

Fellow Members,

Summer is here! We hope that the casualness of summer brings laid-back but fulfilling experiences at the Club. While we traditionally scale back our formal events during the summer months because of lower turnouts, our Club remains vibrant with plenty of activities to keep us connected. We hope that you will continue to take advantage of the many offerings available to us: Bridge & Mah Jongg (lessons and/or play), aquafit; pickleball/tennis; very cool fitness area with cardio, pilates, other strengthening options and great trainers; afternoon tea; hiking/walking; fitness classes; and more.

I am sharing…I had my first mani/pedi with Kikue last week – first ever! It was heavenly. How lucky we are to have the relaxed M Spa environment with such qualified technicians. Make an appointment with Kikue or Tatyana (hair) or Kelly (massage) or Deborah (facial, makeup) and treat yourself.

Membership growth remains our top priority. Over the last few months, we have had a number of outstanding First Look receptions. I am pleased to report continued progress on this front. These receptions serve two main purposes: To increase our visibility (so many visitors say they have never heard about the Metropolitan Club). We are still a well-kept secret but we are raising our profile). The other objective is obviously to increase Membership. We have a full pipeline and are hoping these prospects will materialize. Thanks to our Membership Committee for their continued efforts in this vein.

I want to emphasize how crucial each of you is to our Membership success. Your personal recommendations and invitations carry tremendous weight with prospective members. When you bring a friend to our informal gatherings or speak enthusiastically about your Club experience, you become our most effective ambassadors.

Please remember that summer's relaxed atmosphere provides perfect opportunities for introducing potential members to our community. Whether it's inviting someone to join you for afternoon tea, bringing a guest for a swim, or to tour our facilities, every interaction helps showcase what makes our Club special. Your ideas for how to increase our visibility are always welcome. Thank you for your continued participation and for making our Club such a special place. I look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events or just hanging out.

Warmly,

OFFICE OF THE GENERAL MANAGER

A message from Tom Schunn

Town Hall Recap

Whether you attended our recent Town Hall meeting or not, I would like to provide a recap of my reporting. These gatherings provide a wonderful opportunity for Members to reconnect, strengthen camaraderie, and hear about happenings at the Club. I reported on several enhancements to our website and software systems. You will notice a more user-friendly Club calendar that separates social and dining events from fitness and wellness offerings. Additionally, we will be transitioning from the Mindbody app to our integrated Jonas management system for all M Spa • Salon and wellness/fitness bookings. Since feedback on Mindbody has been mixed, we believe that Jonas will offer a more seamless and data-connected experience for these Club amenities.

Summer Happening

I am pleased to announce that we now accept credit cards for transactions involving guests and reciprocal members throughout the Club. Please note that a 3% processing fee will apply to all credit card transactions. We have also introduced mobile point-of-sale devices to improve efficiency across all venues. With summer upon us, we will be streamlining our food and beverage offerings. Pre-ordered breakfast service will be discontinued due to low demand and food waste. Lunch, Saturday Brunch, and bar hospitality services will remain available throughout the summer. Dinner service will pause during these months. Your active engagement is invaluable. Please attend Club events, invite guests, and consider planning special occasions with us. December is already booking up quickly. We encourage you to reserve any events well in advance. Great Team

I am excited to introduce our new assistant controller, Diane Medina, who brings energy and expertise to our accounting, payroll, and HR functions. Unfortunately, we will be saying so long to Director of Finance Sara Johnson, who is leaving for personal reasons. Sara has been a tremendous asset during her two-plus years and will be dearly missed. Chef Damian hired a new culinary team member, as we lost a couple of line cooks. We have brought on two on-call waitstaff to reduce reliance on temporary staffing agencies. This will allow management to control quality and labor costs. Everyone is working hard as a smaller team since the beginning of January.

Repairs and Projects

We are busy with building maintenance and capital projects. During the first week of July, the Club will be fully closed, and during the second week, it will be partially open. Many projects involve fixing leaks in drain lines, water lines, and steam lines that have caused damage to the building's structure, and also to ceilings, walls, and floors. Renovations to the Garden Room will be completed. Work has begun on the tennis and pickleball courts. The steam room and yoga studio need repairs. Moisture intrusion has led to dry rot, mold, and drywall damage. Upgrades to the fourth-floor restroom are scheduled. Other projects, like the lobby painting, may need to wait due to the volume of projects. The priority is ensuring a safe, sound, and beautiful Club environment. See you around the Club this summer!
