WELCOME TO PULPAPER 2018 Visit tomorrow today. At PulPaper in Helsinki on 29–31 May 2018!

S

ince the last edition of PulPaper in 2014, the bioforest industry’s transformation journey has continued strongly. We have witnessed a number of turnaround investments and installations of bold new technologies, and not least here in the Nordic countries. PulPaper 2018 provides a great opportunity to highlight the latest advances, do business, update the future outlook and, of course, to network and have a good time with old and new colleagues from all over the world. Together with the transformation of the industry, the PulPaper programme concept (incl. pricing!) has also been renewed. The event features new content for key focus groups, for example, Business Forum reviewing the latest industry trends, innovation and leadership, and a dedicated seminar related to 3D printing of biomaterials. PulPaper conference Visit tomorrow today provides future-oriented insights e.g. to circular economy, breakthrough technologies, future biorefinery concepts, impact of digitalization and interesting new fibre products. In addition to that 10 interesting start-up companies related to our industry will give their pitch-presentations. Don't forget the excursions, which will provide a unique opportunity to visit two prominent case examples of the on-going industry transformation: Metsä Group’s Äänekoski bioproduct mill and Kotkamills.

PulPaper 2018 • Changes are possible

A crucial part of our brighter future are our new young talents and students. As a new feature, the final exhibition day is dedicated especially for them. Finally, for the first time, PulPaper event will be organized together with other exhibitions across the bioforest industry cluster. That means Helsinki will be the center stage for not only pulp & paper and bioproducts, but also for packaging, wood and bioenergy industries in May 2018. You don't want to miss this gathering! We look forward to seeing you at PulPaper 2018 – welcome!

PLACE Metsä Group's bioproduct mill, Äänekoski Metsä Group has built a new bioproduct mill in Äänekoski in Central Finland. With a value of EUR 1.2 billion, the bioproduct mill is the largest investment in the history of the Finnish forest industry. The Äänekoski mill is the first next-generation bioproduct mill in the world. Its annual pulp production capacity is 1.3 million tonnes. The construction of the bioproduct mill began in April 2015, and the mill started up in mid-August 2017 – exactly on schedule and on budget. In addition to high-quality pulp, the Äänekoski mill will produce a wide selection of other bioproducts. With this new mill, the local industrial ecosystem will develop further, as the mill serves as a platform for the manufacture of new bioproducts. In the first phase, new bioproducts will include product gas, sulphuric acid, biogas and biofuel pellets. Key bioproduct development projects include lignin products, textile fibres and biocomposites. In terms of energy efficiency, the mill is a leading facility globally. Its bioelectricity self-sufficiency rate is 240 per cent, and it uses no fossil fuels.

The story of the Flying Eagle began in the beginning of 2015. With this major investment project the Kotkamills’ old paper machine was rebuild into a modern board machine, which started production during the mid-summer 2016. Today Kotkamills produces a new, innovative range of food-service boards which are fully recyclable, repulpable and renewable meaning that after use, such paperboard cups and plates can be easily disposed of along with normal paper waste. Kotkamills have developed next-generation solutions for water-, moisture vapour- and grease-barrier products that contain no traditional plastic coatings.

There is a limited number of seats to excursions, so make your booking well in advance!
