NYS Senate GOP Rallies in Suffolk Ahead of 2026 By Matt Meduri The 2026 midterm elections could not be more crucial for New York, especially for the Republican Party. At the top of the ticket is the gubernatorial race, set to be one of the marquee races of next year’s elections. Governor Kathy Hochul (D-Hamburg) is gearing up for a second full term. She has drawn a primary challenger from her hand-picked Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado (D-Rhinebeck). On the Republican side, Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-Schuylerville) announced in November after months of speculation. She was joined in the Republican field last week by Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman (R-Atlantic Beach). Continued on page 5

Formica Hosts Commack’s First Tree Lighting By Matt Meduri Commack hit a milestone last Thursday as it held its first community tree lighting, a move to not only bring Christmas cheer to the neighborhood, but also to put the hamlet “on the map.” For Suffolk County Legislator-elect Sal Formica (R-Commack), it’s one of his top priorities. “One of my campaign promises was that I was going to help put Commack back on the map,” Formica told The Messenger. “Being a resident here for thirty-six years, this [tree lighting] was truly an honor to do this for our community. I’m hoping each year it grows and at some point, we have a thousand people here.”
