Senator Mario R. Mattera (RSt. James) welcomed students, administrators, and teachers from the Commack School District’s Legislative Advocacy Committee this week to Albany.
Mattera met with the students of the Committee in his office and took them on a tour of the Senate Chamber.
During the visit, Senator Mattera and the students discussed issues of importance to the students, including experiential learning, mental health for students and local decisions on graduation measures.
“I thank the students and staff for coming to Albany to provide me with their thoughts on these issues. Their grasp of the topics was very impressive, and we had an interesting conversation. It is my hope that they enjoyed their visit as much as my office did and that they will always be involved in their government,” stated Senator Mattera.
“By focusing on our accomplishments over the last ten years and our — and our team’s — practical, effective, rational approach to government, we presented the voters with a clear choice on what they want to see in their Trustees. And the voters made that choice. We are honored to be entrusted with this responsibility.“
