Idols Got Talent Long Island Ducks to Host Anthem Auditions, Brookhaven To Host Art Show

The Long Island Ducks and WALK 97.5 FM have announced that the annual Anthem Idol competition will take place on Saturday, April 8.

Registration will take place promptly at 9 a.m. on April 8 at Fairfield Properties Ballpark, the Central Islip-located home of the Long Island Ducks. Auditions will follow shortly after.

Participants are being encouraged to fill out the Anthem Idol application form online and bring their completed forms with them to the ballpark in hopes for a quicker registration process. Registration forms will not be accepted before the event takes place.

“Anthem Idol is always a highly anticipated event on our calendar,” said Duck’s President/GM Michal Pfaff, “We are excited to partner with Connoisseur Media for this year’s event and wish all of the participants the very best of luck.”

Contestants will be competing for a limited number of openings in performing the National Anthem during the Ducks 2023 Season. This year, the judges will be Anna and Raven from the Anna & Raven morning show on WALK 97.5, afternoon drive host Christina Kay and Ducks Promotions Manager Dan Vario.

All performers must sing live and in a capella, with lyrics being sung by memory, along with a one minute and thirty second time limit. No video or audio recordings will be accepted. Winners of the 2023 Anthem Idol competition will be notified weeks after the event.

The WALK 97.5 Promotional Street Team will also be present at the event with music, giveaways and chances to win prizes for all in attendance.

Brookhaven: Young at Heart and a Haven for Art!

Supervisor Ed Romaine announced the Town’s Youth Board is accepting submissions of artwork for its annual “Brookhaven’s Got Talent Student Art Show.” The showcase event will take place on Thursday, May 4 at Brookhaven Town Hall from 6-8 p.m. This year’s theme: “Keeping Strong through the Pandemic” — an evergreen topic that’s inspired the creatively-spirited youth across the township. Seventh through twelfth graders interested are asked to submit photos, paintings or drawings that depict their saving graces throughout the ordeal that was the early days of quarantining.

To participate in this year’s Art Show, students can visit Brookhaven Town’s website at BrookhavenNY.gov/Arts, complete the application form including parent/guardian signature, and attach their painting, picture or drawing for consideration. All submissions must be received by Friday, April 21.

Prints of the students’ artwork will be displayed during the month of May in the second-floor lobby of Brookhaven Town Hall, located at 1 Independence Hill in Farmingville. For more information, please call the Department of General Services at 631-451-6331.
