EUROBIKE AWARD 2013 The bicycle industry looks forward to the start of the new 2013 season with confidence and eager anticipation. The industry is currently in a state of transition, while new target groups are opening up new opportunities. The trend towards the “electrification” of the bicycle continues: e-mobility will be the most dominant topic in the industry once again in 2013. Whether mountain, city or trekking bikes – there is now a pedelec version for virtually every type of bicycle and thus for all different types of user groups as well. An ever stronger focus is now also being placed on the cargo bike segment, and not only in the professional but in the private sector as well. All types of loads – from the weekly grocery shopping to delivery packages – can be transported with ease on the loading platform of the new cargo bikes. But functionality is not the only deciding factor nowadays; the trend is also moving towards “velochic”. Today, new innovations in the cycling industry combine function with safety and design. After all, a bicycle is often more than just a mode of transportation or a piece of sports equipment. The bicycle has evolved into a lifestyle product - and that is reflected in the many new products and accessories now available. The topic of high-tech has also found its way into the bicycle industry. The industry is now reacting to the widespread use of portable devices with some very clever new components. For the EUROBIKE AWARD 2013, we – Messe Friedrichshafen as the hosts and iF as the organizers of the event – are looking for products that stand out by virtue of their high level of innovation or their unique design. This year, the EUROBIKE AWARD is already being staged for the ninth time and is meanwhile considered as a recognized seal of quality in the bicycle industry: it serves consumers a helpful aid in making purchasing decisions and for the cycling industry the EUROBIKE AWARD has established a solid reputation as an important marketing instrument. The EUROBIKE GREEN AWARD, which gives recognition to products of particularly outstanding ecological and sustainable value, will also be presented for the sixth time this year. We have put the Conditions of Participation in this year’s award together for you on the following pages. There you will also find a useful overview of what products can be entered in which category. JURY JUDGING SESSION: AUGUST 13 + 14, 2013 Entrants will be informed of the jury’s decision by August 16, 2013. The selection of prize winners will be made by a panel of experts within the framework of a non public judging session. Manufacturers have no right to act as a juror. The jury decides by simple majority vote. There is no recourse to legal action, and no individual correspondence will be entered into. Out of the pool of the award winners, an additional group will be selected as the GOLD award winners. These awards are reserved for the most outstanding winners of the EUROBIKE AWARD 2013. Furthermore the EUROBIKE GREEN AWARD will be awarded to a product which has an outstanding ecological and sustainable value. These awards will not be announced until the awards ceremony.
AWARD + CEREMONY The EUROBIKE AWARD seal will be presented to the exhibitor and/or manufacturer and the responsible designers. As a prize winner you will receive two certificates and advertising materials to support you in marketing your winning product (repro of logo, product hang tags and stickers). For as long as the product is on the market, you can advertise it as a winner of the EUROBIKE AWARD 2013. The award ceremony takes place at the fashion show stage in the Foyer East, on the EUROBIKE trade fair area in Friedrichshafen at 6.00 p.m. on August 28, 2013.

EXHIBITION Excellent products deserve their own special forum: all prize winning products will be presented at a special display in the Foyer West at EUROBIKE Friedrichshafen from August 28 – 31, 2013. All the award-winning products will be sent automatically to the Messe Friedrichshafen. Winning contestants will receive detailed information on how to deliver their entries when they are advised of the judging results. Products should be delivered as originals. All deliveries and return shipping must be without any charges to the organizers. If you have set up your products yourself, you will also have to disassemble them on the stated days and you will have to set them up again yourself for the design exhibition at the Messe Friedrichshafen.
REGISTRATION REGISTRATION DEADLINE: JULY 22, 2013 REGISTRATION FEE EUR 125 per entry for exhibitors EUR 300 per entry for non-exhibitors Prices do not include VAT, which may have to be added, depending on the nature of the service and the country where the service recipients have their registered office. The registrant will receive an invoice for the total amount from Messe Friedrichshafen. Should Messe Friedrichshafen not have received the participation fee by August 8, 2013 at the very latest, Messe Friedrichshafen reserves the right to disallow the entry. Should your entry not be received by us in time for adjudication, you will still be charged the full registration fee. Cancellation in written form, is possible until August 6, 2013.
EASY REGISTRATION We look forward to receiving your online registration for EUROBIKE at www.ifdesign.de After you have personally registered, please submit a separate registration form for each item entered. For each item registration, we require a brief description of your product and its functions in English and German as well as two product photos. The automatic registration confirmation will contain an entry-ID, which you will need to quote when submitting your product as well as for all correspondence. If your entry receives an award, your text and photos will be used for the iF online exhibition as well as for the press CD at the awards ceremony. All information will be taken from the online registration form. The organizers assume no liability for any incorrect or false information supplied.
LOGISTICS Submission: Please submit products to be judged to the following address from July 17 – August 2, 2013. Please use the following shipping address for all shipments: Kuehne + Nagel AG & Co. Bicycles must be delivered completely assembled and ready to ride; iF will not assume any responsibility for assembly. Large items should be presented as scale models or in the form of large-format, illustrative photos consisting of different detail shots. Please ensure that there are no delivery charges payable by iF and that transport packaging is reusable. Defective or disposable packaging will not be used to return exhibits. The cost of any new packaging will be charged to the participant. Your entries must arrive at Kuehne + Nagel clear of any customs or tax charges. The registrant and / or submitter will be required to cover any return shipping charges as well as any applicable customs duties on the import or export side. All entries, as well as all product and transport packaging, must be clearly labeled with entry-ID and category number. If your consignment contains more than one entry, each entry-ID must be listed on the packaging.

Products that have to be mounted, are extremely large, difficult to handle, very heavy, complicated or delicate can be registered for self-assembly. The decision as to whether a contribution can be set up by the participant or whether it will be set up by iF rests with iF. If you set up your product yourself, all necessary material and tools must be provided by you. Please inform your forwarding company if this applies to you, since any additional costs concerning delivery and collection will be charged to you. If you decide to set up your contribution yourself, you are also responsible for the disposal of any packaging material, dismantling and collecting your contribution after it has been evaluated by the jury. This also applies to products that have received an award. The award-winning products must be dismantled by 3 p.m. the day after the jury session because all these products are scheduled to be shipped to Friedrichshafen in the late afternoon. Please note: There will be no return shipment for large-format photos. You will have to pay all fees and expenses related to the return of your products or to their disposal. If you also need any non-award-winning products at EUROBIKE in Friedrichshafen, we would like to remind you that iF will not organize or assume the costs for the transportation of such items. Please consult your own logistics supplier and make the appropriate arrangements, if necessary, to have such items delivered to the show.

DISMANTLING EXHIBITION If your product wins an award, you should pick it up at the special display area in Foyer West at 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2013. If you are not going to be able to do so, the organizer Messe Friedrichshafen will arrange the reshipment of your product. The costs for packaging material and re-shipment will be charged to the participant. The participant is financially responsible in the case of any damage that might occur during the dismantling processes.

TRANSPORT LIABILITY INSURANCE The contestant bears the charges for the delivery and return shipping of products to and from the judging and exhibition site. Products must be delivered in reusable packaging. The contestant is liable for any damages or additional charges. The organizers will not purchase any insurance coverage for submitted products. We recommend that you take out a transport and exhibition insurance policy, particularly to cover breakage, damage and theft.
