MEET YOUR DEAN:
Cynthia McGowan, Ph.D. If you like scientific exploration, you’ll love Dean McGowan. She has transformed the organic chemistry curriculum at Merrimack College by introducing microwave heating as a tool. By converting many reactions from conventional to microwave conditions, students can complete more extensive experiments during laboratory periods. When she’s not thinking up innovative science experiments or exploring new synthetic methods for organic transformations, Dean McGowan is working closely with undergraduate research students.
