MULTI- SENSORY RESEARCH

REFLECTION

This stage for me was very helpful as it really opened my eye to many things, I never knew were possible. Thew idea of multisensory architecture never crossed my mind however now I understand the importance of it. This stage allowed us to really learn how we can implement those tactics and techniques in our design .

MAPPING

REFLECTION

This age was also very important to me as it allowed to me to understand the context and history very well. We visited the site as a group and were able to see the people and their needs. I also learned that areas like this every meter is important and using all the build up area is important which is what I tried to implement in my project. Thus the mapping stage was very important for the context and history understanding.

FINAL BEHAVIOURAL CHOREOGRAPHY

REFLECTION

After learning about multisensory research, it was important to set out guidelines that I want to follow in my project. I set up a pattern language, sensory experience tactics, geometry choreography and inspiration for my main components. This made it a lot easier to start my design process.

CONCEPTUAL DESIGN

REFLECTION

The conceptual deign stage was very beneficial to understand the scale of the o the project. It was a good first step to be able to visualize the buildings and proportions too. It was useful to mix and match the heights and buildings and seeing different design masses in the context model.

03-6) DESIGN PROGRESS

REFLECTION

This stage was the longest and hardest stage. It was difficult to get feedback every studio class and come back in 2 days with all the changes done. I felt like time was very tight. However, towards the end I realized how important this phased is as spending a lot of time fixing the plans and designs, gave us more time in the end to focus on the visuals and presentation of the project, which allowed us to truly enhance our projects in the end. That was the first time I truly understand the importance of the different design stages and how important it was to stress myself for a few weeks to get the best outcome in the end.

REFLECTION

This stage was one of the last ones but one of the most beneficial in terms of presentation. The feedback I received allowed my poster and project to truly enhance. I also only had visual presentation to fix so it allowed me to work on the video walk through of the project.

COURSE REFLECTION

• I was able to truly enhance my graphic skills in this course.

• I was able to look at architecture in a new perspective and dimension, beyond the design.

• I learned a lot about the graphics and its importance in presentation.

• I learned how to design for a commercial use for the first time .

• I was able to integrate the Egyptian Codes in my project as well as the ADA and Fire Exits international codes.

• I was able to design while having site conditions and restrictions that I needed to take into consideration.
