EITC and OSTC Donors and Scholarship Recipients
Merion Mercy is exceedingly grateful to the following individuals and businesses that made tax credit donations through the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) and the Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credits (OSTC) programs. We also extend our thanks for our partnership with Business Leaders Organized for Catholic Schools (BLOCS) for streamlining this process for our donors.
This past fiscal year, 25 Pennsylvania businesses made generous gifts to MMA through these tax credit programs, amounting to $348,223 to support scholarships and financial aid. These business donors were able to receive substantial tax credits while redirecting those tax dollars to provide needed funding for deserving Merion Mercy students. These tax credit gifts make a profound impact for students who would otherwise be unable to attend Merion Mercy Academy.
Your tax-credit scholarship donations have allowed me to attend this wonderful school. I am proud to have achieved Distinguished Honors. I am now fully immersed in science. Honors Chemistry is very challenging, but I am so proud that I understand this complicated subject. My Merion journey also enabled me to contribute to meaningful club activities. As a Blue Key Ambassador, I am growing socially as I introduce incoming students to Merion Mercy. Working on Stage Crew, I have learned about the value of teamwork and hard work. The ASIA Club has given me the opportunity to reflect on my culture and value who I am. I am very grateful to be here at Merion. Thank you so much for your tax-credit donations making my experience of the MMA sisterhood possible.”
I am truly grateful for the tax-credit scholarship funding that has enabled me to attend Merion Mercy. I love my school through and through. The student experience here at Merion is amazing, and the academic program is outstanding. This very supportive environment pushes me and my peers to work smarter and harder. With that, we continually support one another. I know my teachers genuinely care about me academically, spiritually, mentally, and physically. Here, I am thriving. Recently my precalculus teacher sent me an email saying that she is proud of me and all my hard work. What a boost that was! With all this support, I have grown as a person and found my voice. Merion has encouraged me to be more outspoken and outgoing as an African American young woman.
EITC and OSTC donations have provided me with a wonderful high school experience that I will value for my entire life. At Merion Mercy, the visual arts program is just wonderful. This program is giving me the tools to turn this passion toward a career path. I am blessed with the great advantage of our wonderful art teachers and our beautiful Art and Design Gallery. This is a full experience. As a member of the Art Honor Society, we combine artwork and service. Since freshman year, I have played the clarinet in the Orchestra and performed in the Handbells Choir. I cannot thank you enough for making it possible for me to come to Merion Mercy Academy, where I am growing academically, emotionally, and spiritually.
I received tax-credit funding throughout my four years at Merion. Without that, I would not have been able to attend this school. I grew tremendously during my time at Merion. During that time, I grew from a nervous freshman to a confident young woman who is ready for college. At Merion Mercy I developed a devotion to service in the Blue Key Society and Mercy Mission Corps. My leadership skills flourished. I will continue this passion for service throughout my college career. I achieved Distinguished Honors as a Merion student. Now I am a first-generation college student at VIllanova University. Merion Mercy led me to make myself and the world better. Thank you to the tax-credit donors for supporting me.
