The Rec Center will post any delay or closure information on our Facebook page. We will also send out an email to everyone in our system.

Manager’s Message Updates on Projects: The District is always keeping up with maintaining the public infrastructure that assures you reliable water, wastewater, stormwater, parks, and open space services. Recent projects include painting the interior of two water storage tanks, repairing fences, repairing broken concrete trails, updating water meter reading technology, drilling a new water supply well, replanting ornamental plants and trees and updating the automated controls and communications at our critical facilities. There is always work going on behind the scenes. Snow Schedules: Snow closures and delayed openings of the Meridian Ranch Recreation Center occur on the same days as the School District 49 closures and delayed starts. The District performs snow removal on public trails and the El Paso County Department of Public Works removes snow from County roads, including roads in Meridian Ranch. Residents are required to remove snow from sidewalks adjacent to their houses. District Budget/Fee Setting Process: It’s that time of year for the District to consider budgets and fees for 2020. The District Board of Directors must balance the desires of residents who want limited or no fee increases with the requests of other residents for additional services and improvements to public landscaping and facilities. Meanwhile, the District must respond to increases in the State minimum wage, increases to electricity and natural gas charges, and other normal cost increases. Opportunities for the public to watch the process and provide input will occur at the Board of Directors meeting on Wednesday, November 6 at 10:00 a.m., at an informal Budget Workshop on Thursday, November 13, 7:00-9:00 p.m. and again at a formal public hearing during the Board of Directors meeting on Wednesday, December 4 at 10:00 a.m. All meetings are held at the Meridian Ranch Recreation Center on Londonderry Drive at Angeles Rd. Watch the District’s website for proposed 2020 budgets and proposed fee increases.

The invoice is the Annual Assessment for the DRC. Assessments: Section 4.22 for DRC no. 1 and Section 5.1 for DRC no. 2 of the Declaration establishes an obligation upon each owner to pay assessments to the DRC. Section 4.23 for DRC no. 1 and Section 5.2 for DRC no. 2 of the Declaration: Assessments are used for the purpose of: “promoting the health, safety, and welfare of the Owners, to protect and enhance the value of the Lots in the Property, and to provide the funds necessary to enforce the terms and conditions of the Covenants.”

The Shops at Meridian Ranch Thomas General Contractors is doing a great job keeping the Shops Phase 2 construction on schedule to be complete and ready for new tenants to do their interior improvements by mid-December, 2019. The Shops at Meridian Ranch is excited to announce that Omelets Etc. will be opening their fourth location right here in Meridian Ranch. Omelets Etc. is family-owned and operated by Juan and Robin Madera. The original Omelets Etc. in Santa Barbara, California was opened by Robin’s grandfather in the 1970’s. Juan and Robin have lived in Colorado since they were children and are proud to call Colorado home. When away from their restaurants, they spend time being active and enjoying their eight children. The Maderas opened their first location almost 10 years ago on the westside of Colorado Springs. The entire family has worked hard to build the business and provide outstanding customer service. Falcon Regional Park Improvements El Paso County Parks are asking for community donations to show support for the Falcon Regional Park Improvements for the Great Outdoors Colorado grant application. Community support funds for this project will be used solely for improvements at Falcon Regional Park. Community support for the project will show Great Outdoors Colorado that the public/citizens are interested in this project, support it and desire to have the improvements at the park; donations will also leverage $350,000 in financing for this project from Great Outdoors Colorado. If Meridian Ranch community would like to donate funds for this project, please contact Dana Nordstrom with El Paso County Parks at the information below. Project Description: This proposal is to continue phased development of a relatively new park, Falcon Regional Park, in Eastern El Paso County. Proposed improvements include: a multi-use field and baseball/softball field; a playground; irrigation and landscaping; additional parking; an equestrian trailhead; and restrooms. Design and engineering was completed in 2019. These improvements follow the community-driven master plan and will provide opportunities for recreation, tourism and environmental stewardship in a high growth part of the County that lacks developed field space. Meridian Ranch Appreciates Our Military! The first ever Meridian Ranch Military Day Appreciation Golf Tournament on October 13th was a great success! The team of Meridian Ranch Home Builders, Developer, Antler Creek Golf Course, local businesses and individuals helped sponsor a totally FREE golf tournament for Meridian Ranch residents who are active duty or retired military. Donations made as a result of the event went to a tremendous charity, Wounded Warrior Project, which has helped change the lives of over one million injured warriors, caregivers and family members, bringing independence back to our nation’s most severely wounded veterans. There were numerous giveaways and games at the holes, putting green and driving range. Every golfer even had a chance to win a vehicle sponsored by Joe Ferguson Dealership if they made a hole-in-one! Our 3 contest winners have bragging rights as winners of the Closest to the Pin Contest - two won a pair of Nike golf shoes and another won a two-night stay at the Double Eagle Casino with vouchers for food and play. A Falcon High School teacher received regional recognition for going above and beyond. Kortney Sorensen, PE Teacher and Athletic Trainer at Falcon High School, was selected as an honoree in the Air Force Academy’s “Extra Yard for Teachers” campaign. Coach Sorensen received a surprise visit September 23rd from the AFA’s mascot and athletics department representative to receive recognition of this honor. The AFA recognized the teachers during halftime at the September 27th AFA football game and each received a $1,000 grant for their classroom. Falcon High School freshman, Kaitlyn Hall, nominated Sorensen. “She works harder than any teacher I have ever seen.”
