Manager's Message Water Supply Well No. 6 – Progress Report

Calling Children Ages 5-12

The new water supply well site no. 6 (across from the High School on the south side of Londonderry Dr.) is proceeding on schedule. The drilling of two new wells at this site was completed in November on time and under budget. The big sound wall and the well driller’s rig is now gone. A big thank you to nearby neighbors who put up with the sound wall during 24-hour drilling operations. During the coming months the District will be installing pumps, motors and electrical controls to complete the project. We’re hoping the new wells will be on line before spring irrigation begins. The water provided by the new wells will help the District keep up with the needs of our growing Meridian Ranch community.

Spring Break will be here before you know it! Join us for Spring Break Camp! Where: Meridian Ranch Recreation Center

Dates: Monday, March 16th– Friday, March 20th & Monday, March 23rd– Friday, March 27th Time: 8 AM– 4 PM

District Board Approves Budget and Fee Schedule for 2020 After considering public input at an informal evening workshop in November and a formal public hearing in December, the Board of Directors of the Meridian Service Metropolitan District adopted the 2020 Budget – a balanced budget requiring a 3% increase in residential fees. The fee increases for 2020 will typically impact Meridian Ranch residents by an additional $5.15/month in their total combined utility bill. This is less than half the increase of last year. The complete 2020 Fee Schedule and 2020 Budget is posted on the District’s website at www.meridianranchmetro.org. The new fees took effect on January 1, 2020. For our typical Meridian Ranch residential customer, the changes in services fees for 2020 are summarized below:

The fee increases for 2020 are very modest considering the Colorado minimum wage increased 8% and the local Consumer Price Index was about 3%. The essential public services provided by the District continue to be a bargain when compared to the cost of internet, cable, and mobile phone services.

 The View From Meridian Ranch

Design Review Council Corner There are a lot of walkers in the Meridian Ranch Community! Did you know… The newest trend from Sweden improves the health of both humans and our Mother Earth. It’s a blend of jogging and the Swedish “plocks upp”, meaning to pick up. You are simply jogging while picking up trash from the trails to help save the Earth. You benefit from a sense of self-satisfaction that comes from helping to make the world a better place. And bonus it burns more calories than jogging alone. Incorporating squats and lunges will boost your workout and strengthen your core. Use the hashtag #plogging to show your support and spread the word. Another item that helps the walkers and staying health is to please put your trash totes in front of the curb or on the driveway so the walkers can utilize the sidewalks to get to the trails. Please store trash totes out of site in the garage or behind a screened location after trash pickup day.

Did you know…There are parking regulations in Meridian Ranch. Although the roads are owned and maintained by El Paso County, the community has parking regulations. Please check out sections 3.33 in the Covenants on the Meridian Ranch Websites: www.meridianranchdrc.nabrnetwork.com for DRC no 1 and www.meridianranchdrc2.nabrnetwork.com for DRC no 2/ Resources/ Governing Documents.

Did you know…Landscape is not a seasonal process! Please remember to winter water the shrubs, trees and grass when temperatures reach above 40 degrees. When spring/summer approaches, they will be more likely to have survived the dry winter and won’t need to be replaced. It is advised by professional landscapers to water approximately one minute per shrub and 2-3 minutes per tree. It is crucial to winter water your evergreens such as pine and spruce trees. Not watering can lead to plant damage.
