Wishing the Meridian Ranch community a happy and safe holiday season!

Thank you to residents who participated in the 8th annual Christmas light contest! The Winners will be posted in the January newsletter as well as on the DRC websites and the Facebook page. We truly appreciate the joy and beauty this contest brings to Meridian Ranch!

In last month’s newsletter, I was introduced as the new District General Manager. It’s a privilege for me to be serving the Meridian Ranch community alongside our dedicated staff. The District provides water, sewer, drainage, parks, trails, open space, and recreation services for Meridian Ranch. These services touch everyone’s lives every day. Keeping the water flowing and facilities open is a significant responsibility that our District staff takes very seriously. You can’t start your day in the morning or finish your day at night without a clean, reliable water supply and functioning sewer system. Most people who have public water and sewer service don’t ever give this a thought. That’s actually a credit to the men and women who reliably operate and maintain the wells, pumps, motors, pipes, valves, switches, emergency generators, storage tanks, flow meters, and other equipment keeping the systems working 24/7 in all weather conditions. More visible are the parks, trails, and recreation facilities. I sometimes go for walks during the noon hour and I love to see residents out enjoying our extensive trails and parks – a luxury that did not exist in my former home in another state. This holiday season, as you count your blessings, remember to stop and thank your public servants who keep everything working – Braden, Cassie, Kevin, Russ, Tobi, Fred, John B., John S., Jennette, Angela, Tom, Cal, Michael, Jeff, Bret.

MRES Students, Staff Salute Military with Veterans Day Celebration Students and staff hosted a special Veterans Day assembly Friday, Nov. 10th at Meridian Fourth grade students sing and salute the Ranch Elementary School. The military at MRES during the Veterans Day gymnasium was packed as military celebration on Nov. 10th. parents and community members attended to honor those who have served. Approximately 40 percent of all families at MRES are military.

Festivities were kicked off with a Boy Scout troop posting the colors, which was followed by guest speaker, Melissa Dashner, military student transition consultant. Dashner shared a video about the history of Veterans Day and had a few questions for students. “How many of you have parents in the military?” she asked. “How many of you have friends who are in a military family?” Dashner’s message was clear in teaching students that nearly everyone has a connection to those who serve.

The celebration included a performance by MRES fourth graders, which was directed by Craig Phipps, music teacher. The performance included singing classic American-themed songs, a Native American flag dance and a lively Armed Forces medley.

Once the patriotic show was complete, veterans and family members were invited to participate in an “American Walk.” Students lined the hallways to applaud military guests who made their way through the school.

One honored guest was Cpl. William Antrim, who served in Lt. Col. Rickie Banister waves to students the Army during World War II. during the “American Walk” of Veterans Day Antrim was escorted through festivities at MRES. the hallways by Merry Monk, his granddaughter and MRES fourth grade teacher. “This was the best part of my day,” he shared.

Antrim wasn’t the only veteran who felt special, thanks to the MRES community. “I’ve done 25 years of service,” shared Lt. Col. Rickie Banister.

Homeowners Committee The second Homeowner's Committee Meeting was held on November 9th at 6:00 pm. Board members and Community members made up the 9 people who attended. A Chairman and Co-Chairman were designated at the meeting. The Purpose of the Committee is to advocate for the Homeowners/Residents related to the MSMD and DRC and educate Community Members regarding the governing bodies.

The Committee meets on the Thursday following the MSMD Board Meetings, at 6:00 pm at the Rec Center and needs members who would be willing to be Neighborhood Representatives. The Representatives would pass out initial packets to new homeowners in their neighborhood and assist in being Contact Persons for questions and concerns. The Committee wants everyone to know that they are welcome at the Homeowner's Committee Meeting. Your input is valuable.

Sweat Equity: Winter Workout Use this winter to keep your golf game sharp.

Have too many frosty Saturdays lounging on the couch reduced a once-functional swing into an awkward, flailing mess? Is it like watching a zombie from "The Walking Dead" try to swing a club?

Rather than letting this cycle start again, here is an offseason workout that targets the physical issues of seasonal golfers. This series consists of exercises that will keep your swing—and body— prepped for spring. So get your sneakers on, and let's go to work.

THE BACKSWING Golfers returning from a long layoff struggle to coil properly. Instead of winding the upper body against a stable and quiet lower body, they tend to sway off the ball and lift their arms like they're chopping wood. This makes it hard to hit solid shots with consistency.

FIX NO. 1 RIGHT: Lie down on your side, knees bent and resting on a rolled-up towel or mat (A) With your hands ex tended and palms together, slowly rotate your torso toward the ceiling as far as you can without your knees coming off the mat or separating (B) Don't rotate past the point where your knees rise or pull apart. Make 8-12 rotations, then switch sides and repeat in the opposite direction.

It is that time of year for residents to show their holiday spirit! Light up your home, light up the tree, and gather all the trimmings. Prizes will be awarded to the most festive displays. Be sure to turn on your Holiday Lights for Santa’s Elves on both:

Stonebridge HOA Corner Welcome to the Stonebridge HOA Corner-– where you will find invaluable information about the Stonebridge Homeowners Association.

Roasted Beef Tenderloin with Roasted Red Pepper and Black Olive Sauce Ingredients 2 (2 to 2 1/2 pound) center-cut pieces beef tenderloin Extra virgin olive oil, for coating roasts, plus 3 tablespoons for sauce Montreal Steak Seasoning 5 whole roasted red peppers, coarsely chopped, well drained and pat dry 2 cloves garlic, popped from skin Handful flat-leaf parsley 1 cup pitted black olives, such as kalamata, drained well Salt and pepper Crusty bread, sliced

Directions 1. Preheat oven as high as it goes, 500 degrees F. 2. Liberally coat the meat with extravirgin olive oil and grill seasoning.

Place the meat on a roasting rack or in a roasting pan and place in oven. If you are cooking in a pan with no rack, add a splash of water to the pan.

Roast the meat 10 minutes on high then reduce heat to 350 degrees F and cook 30 minutes more. Do not open oven during those first 10 minutes. Remove meat from oven and let rest 10 minutes before serving.

3. Place roasted peppers in food processor and add garlic, parsley, olives, salt and pepper. Turn the processor on and stream in extra-virgin olive oil, about 3 tablespoons.

4. Thinly slice meat against grain and serve with crusty bread and sauce.

Stonebridge residents belong to the Stonebridge Homeowners Association. The Stonebridge HOA fee pays for the operations, maintenance and staffing of the Lodge as well as resident trash disposal and covenant enforcement.

The Lodge, exclusive to Stonebridge residents, was built and paid for by the developer. Any future improvements, such as the community garden, will also be paid for by the developer and or by the Stonebridge Homeowners Association. Stonebridge residents also pay fees to the Meridian Service Metropolitan District and enjoy all the facilities and amenities that Meridian Ranch has to offer, including the Meridian Ranch Recreation Center.

The Lodge is staffed Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10 AM to 5 PM and at those times you may enjoy all the rooms.

Get Clipped Set to Open In December Dawn and Mark, owners of Get Clipped Barbershop, are very excited to be moving to The Shops at Meridian Ranch. They are planning on a soft opening on December 1st, followed by a grand opening in February, 2018.

Dawn has been barbering for 20 years and has owned Get Clipped Barbershop on Peterson Road for 5 years. Mark is retired from the USAF and needed something more to do with his time (besides his full time job). Get Clipped Barbershop is proud to be a Veteran-owned company.

Dawn commented “Get Clipped is a very manly barbershop.

I think the interior will be very unique and may surprise you!
