Noah’s Ark
In Moradabad, India—where generations of artisans have sculpted wood into exquisite works of art—the handicrafts industry has long been a cornerstone of tradition. Yet, behind the beauty lies a history of injustice: low wages, exploitative commissions, and the crushing burden of selffinancing materials. As global markets shift and costs soar, artisans face the risk of debt, displacement, and the fading of their heritage.
In 1986, Samuel Masih founded Noah’s Ark International Exports to rewrite this story—not with exploitation, but with empowerment. As Moradabad’s first and only Fair Trade-certified exporter, Noah’s Ark partners with independent artisan workshops, ensuring fair wages, sustainable livelihoods, and access to health care, education, and clean water. Through its non-profit arm, Noah’s Ark Handicrafts & Artisan Welfare Society, the organization extends its impact with training programs, infrastructure development, and vital community support.
From intricately crafted wood and metal home décor and jewelry to handmade lighting, seasonal ornaments, natural leather goods, and recycled creations, Noah’s Ark helps artisans sustain their craft while adapting to a changing global market.
Like its biblical namesake, Noah’s Ark is a vessel of preservation— not of people from a flood, but of artisans from poverty and their crafts from extinction. With every handcrafted piece, a legacy is upheld, a future is secured, and the art of making is given the dignity it deserves.

For one month, nine artisans worked on block printing and stitching these stunning jewelry rolls for The Grace Case.
About the artisan: Martha

Now 23 years old, Martha began coming to the artisan group’s stitching center. After learning her needs, they were able to employ her with stitching work. Martha now thanks and praises God for her a joyful life. She is equipped with the skills and education she needs and empowered with Jesus.

About the artisan: Nora
Nora, the newest photography trainee at Starfish Project, is rediscovering her love for creativity through her work. As a child, she would sketch gowns and dolls with a rock on the walls of her home— never imagining she could build a career doing something she loves.
“Laying out a photo is like drawing with necklaces and bracelets,” Nora shares. “My photos are a work of love.”
Coming from a poor background, Nora never had the opportunity to study, but now she’s thriving. Her mentor often tells her, “Nora, you have a photography gift from heaven.” She’s grateful for the chance to develop her skills—and to help create opportunities for other women like her.

Forged in Hope
Forged in Hope was first led by Stephen, who created jewelry from upcycled brass in Kibera, Africa’s largest urban slum. After Stephen’s passing, his wife Maureen continued his legacy, expanding production and investing in businesses in Kibera, fostering local economic growth. Wycliffe, who worked closely with Stephen, assumed a leadership role, overseeing artisans and facilitating business growth. Mercy House Global proudly supports this talented artisan group, fostering empowerment and sustainability.
About the artisan: Hesborn
For Hesborn, his work with Forged in Hope and Mercy House Global has been more than just a source of income—it has been a foundation for his future. Through his earnings, he was able to complete building his house in the countryside, a milestone that once felt out of reach.
“I really appreciate Mercy House,” he shares. “Through them, I managed to finish my house.”
As he looks ahead to the new year, Hesborn holds on to hope. His greatest wish is for more opportunities, more projects, and more doors to open so that he and his fellow artisans can continue building brighter futures.
