What’s your favorite thing about Mercer Zimmerman?
That one’s easy—it’s our people. Don’t get me wrong we are not perfect, but I believe we have an extraordinary group of people that care about their work and care deeply about doing right by our customers and each other. “Building a Strong Family” is our purpose and what I’m most proud of at Mercer Zimmerman.
What would you like to let our customers know?
How grateful I am. We know our customers have choices, and we never take their trust for granted. We’re here to help them succeed and make their projects shine—literally and figuratively. And I’ve got to give a big thank-you to our manufacturers, too. They’re our first partners in this whole thing, and the brands we represent. I’m proud of them all—including the ones featured in this LookBook.
You often drive a tractor on the weekends… please explain.
grew up on a family farm near a small town called Sylvia in south-central Kansas. Nearly 20 years ago, when my father started slowing down, my wife and I made the decision to keep the family farm going. So yes, when I’m not in the office, much of my free time is spent on the farm—driving tractors and combines, repairing old buildings, building fences, and staying up to date with new farming technologies. Farming isn’t easy, but there’s something grounding and deeply meaningful about it. We’re fortunate to have a lot of help, and I feel blessed that my family can continue this tradition.
What’s your superpower?
I’d say my superpower is the ability to dream into the future and understand the details that come with it. I’m not always right, but having a sense of where the big challenges and opportunities might lie can be incredibly valuable.

What’s one thing about Mercer Zimmerman that many people don’t know?
Many people don’t realize how much we invest in developing our people—and how proud we are of the long, fulfilling careers that grow here. A great example of that commitment is our Professional Development Program (PDP). It’s designed to give new talented employees a 360-degree view of the business by rotating them through every department. Along the way, they gain hands-on experience and a deep understanding of how our company fits into the broader AEC ecosystem. I know firsthand how powerful this program is—I was one of the first to go through it, and it had a tremendous impact on how I see my role, our company, and the industry as a whole.
How did it feel to be promoted to president in 2024?
It was an incredible honor and deeply humbling experience. Stepping into this role felt like a culmination of years of hard work, collaboration, and shared vision. It was also a time to reflect on the people who supported me along the way, including my mentors, our employees, customers, and manufacturing partners. I am excited and committed to helping lead MZ in the years ahead with integrity and a focus on continued growth and success.
What advice would you give to your 16-year-old self?
Relax and enjoy the ride. Life isn’t a straight path, and that’s what makes it exciting. At 16, never could have predicted where I’d end up--and that’s the beauty of it. Sometimes, the most unexpected turns lead to the most rewarding opportunities.
What’s your superpower?
Adaptability, without a doubt. It’s a skill I have had to develop over time—and one I’m still refining.
