BEARS SPOTLIGHT #7 KENDALL HARRIS

POSITION: Wide Receiver

HOMETOWN: Macon, Ga.

TWITTER/INSTAGRAM: @Kendall_Harris7 / @kendallharris_

MAJOR: Psychology (Anticipated Graduation: 2027)

CAREER NOTES:

• Named to 2024 Southern Conference All-Freshman Team

• Caught 14 passes for 339 yards and one touchdown in 2024

• Lone touchdown came via a one-handed catch at Alabama

• Logged at least one reception in first 12 games last season

WHAT IS YOUR PROUDEST MOMENT AS A MERCER BEAR?

“My proudest moment so far is probably when I got freshman all-conference honors or when I caught my first collegiate touchdown against Alabama.”

WHAT STORY DOES YOUR FAMILY ALWAYS TELL ABOUT YOU?

“My dad likes to tell a story about how I learned to ride a bike when I was 3, but then immediately ran into a mailbox which is pretty funny. My mom likes to tell the story about how whenever I ate spicy foods I would always say ‘it’s too picey mommy’ instead of spicy.”

WHAT DID YOU DO GROWING UP THAT ALWAYS GOT YOU IN TROUBLE?

“I was a big talker growing up, especially in school, so that always got me in trouble with my teachers and then also with my parents.”

IF YOU COULD LEARN TO DO ANYTHING, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

“I would learn how to speak multiple languages. I just feel like that would be a really cool skill to learn.”

2025 MERCER BEARS FOOTBALL

Mercer BEARS vs. Wofford TERRIERS

September 13, 2025 l Five Star Stadium l Macon, Ga.

u The 22nd-ranked Mercer Bears open up the Southern Conference portion of their regular season schedule tonight when they take on SoCon foe Wofford in Macon. Tonight’s game will be broadcasted live on ESPN+ with Frank Malloy and Phil Cox handling the duties in the booth. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:02 p.m. ET inside Five Star Stadium.

u The Bears are 10-7 all-time in a series with Wofford that dates all the way back to the 1915 season … Mercer will bring a four-game series win streak into tonight’s contest, including a 22-3 win over then-No. 23 Wofford in Spartanburg, S.C., last season … The Bears have captured each of the last two matchups with Wofford at Five Star Stadium, including a 31-17 triumph in the last contest in Macon on Oct. 21, 2023 … Tonight’s tilt will mark the second-earliest meeting between the two clubs in series history, falling just four days later than the 2017 matchup that took place on September 9 … Wofford won seven-straight games in the series from 2014-2020, but Mercer snapped that series skid with a 45-14 win on Oct. 23, 2021.

u Visiting and 12th-ranked Mercer limited 23rd-ranked Wofford to just 146 yards of total offense, including a paltry 16 yards on the ground, to fuel a 22-3 win over the Terriers last year and tack up its best start in the 51 seasons of the program. The Bears limited the Terriers to just 16 yards (20 carries) on the ground and registered four interceptions.

u Mercer is 6-6 in conference openers dating back to the 2013 season (modern era of program) and has won five of its last seven Southern Conference lid-lifters ... Tonight’s matchup with Wofford will mark the first time that the Bears have opened their conference schedule at home since a 28-27 setback to then-No. 10 Wofford in 2017 ... MU is 0-3 against the Terriers in SoCon openers ... Tonight’s game will mark the first time since 2022 that MU has not faced a nationally-ranked opponent in its SoCon opener.

u Mercer has captured five-straight Southern Conference home openers dating back to a 42-28 victory over The Citadel that lifted the lid on the home portion of a CoVID-affected 2020-21 slate … The Bears, who dropped their SoCon home opener for six-straight seasons (2014-19) are now 5-6 all-time in such games and are 6-6 in the modern era of the program (2013-present) in league home lid-lifters … Mercer downed Drake, 3117, in their Pioneer Football League home opener in 2013 … Tonight’s game with Wofford will mark the third time in program history that MU has opened its home league schedule against the Terriers, having dropped a 34-33 contest to Wofford in 2015 and a 28-27 nailbiter to the then-10th-ranked Terriers in 2017.

u Tonight’s game will mark just the fourth time in the 17-game-old series where both teams will enter the contest looking for their first win … Mercer (1-1) faced a winless Wofford (0-1) squad to open the series in 1915, and the two teams faced one another to kick off the 1938 and 1939 seasons … The Bears dropped three October games during the pandemic-affected 202021 season, while Wofford did not compete that season until the two squads locked horns to open the spring portion of that campaign.

Junior Drew Clare matched a team-high with seven tackles in the season opener with Presbyterian, including a trio of stops behind the line. He also tallied a sack in the third quarter.

u Mercer is 24-16 amid the calendar’s ninth month since bringing football back to campus in time for the 2013 campaign … The Bears are 24-11 against FCS schools in September … MU is 12-6 at home in September across the modern era of the program (2013-present) and will bring a five-game win streak in such games into tonight’s tilt with Wofford … The Bears played just one home game in September last season – a 38-21 win over The Citadel on September 21.

u Preseason all-American Andrew Zock now owns the top three single-game marks for quarterback hurries

after posting six in the Week 1 loss to Presbyterian … Zock eclipsed the school record in that category with five hurries in last season’s home win over East Tennessee State, and then eclipsed his own school record with seven hurries in the regular season finale against Furman … He now stands tied atop the program’s alltime list for quarterback hurries with Solomon Zubairu who totaled 21 quarterback hurries from 2019-23 … The then-freshman phenom set a new program record with 15 quarterback hurries last season.

u Junior kicker Reice Griffith has connected on all 92 PAT attempts across his 2+-year career in the Orange & Black, including a 54-for-54 tally on point-after attempts last season … The FCS record for consecutive extra points made is currently held by former Northern Iowa standout Matthew Cook who connected on all 155 of his PAT attempts from 2019-23.

u Mercer has connected on 136 consecutive extra-point kicks dating back to former standout Devin Folser’s third-quarter PAT against The Citadel on Sept. 17, 2022 - the second-longest streak in FCS history … Folser closed out his Mercer career by connecting on his last 44 point-after attempts, while Reice Griffith is a perfect 92-for-92 since assuming the role … Mercer’s last missed extra-point was Folser’s wide-left attempt in the fourth quarter of the loss at Auburn on Sept. 3, 2022 ... Northern Iowa, which has not missed a PAT attempt since late in the 2017 campaign, currently holds the FCS record with an active streak of 216 consecutive extra point kicks.

u Tonight’s contest will mark the 14th-straight time that Mercer has toted a national ranking into a game – the longest-such stretch in the history of the program ... The Bears are ranked No. 22 in this week’s American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Top 25, but fell out of the StatsPerform FCS ranking for the first time since Week 2 of last season.

Home to the award-winning Georgia National Fairgrounds and Agricenter, the city of Perry will be recognized tonight as part of Mercer’s Community Partner Series. It is also Hometown Heroes Night at Five Star Stadium. (exploregeorgia.org)
