SMARTER BOOKING LEADS TO GREENER LOGISTICS
Green benefits will result from an integrated one-stop booking platform for Singapore's container depots, terminals, hauliers and logistics facilitie
Developed by PSA, SmartBooking is an online service platform which supports digitalisation efforts by seamlessly connecting stakeholders across the supply chain and logistics value chain in Singapore.
“By bringing players across the supply chain and logistics value chain onto a single platform, PSA, together with our valued partners, are championing to establish an Intelligent Logistics Ecosystem, connecting key nodes comprising our port, depots, warehouses and plants,” said Ms Seow Hwee, head of cargo solutions Southeast Asia, PSA International.
“This is important for driving interoperability between systems and the robust exchange of supply chain-related information will transform our logistics community into a wellconnected and resilient hub.”
HIGH EFFICIENCY
Through SmartBooking, users can gain higher visibility of the entire logistics flow, obtaining easy access to information such as vessel schedules, container movement events and planned activities.
SmartBooking allows processes to be further streamlined, with the optimisation of assets and resources, leading to a more efficient logistics ecosystem and an overall reduction in carbon footprint.
In addition, PSA, with advisory input from Container Depot and Logistics Association (Singapore) (CDAS), has also introduced 'iBOX' (Intelligent Box Operation eXchange), a nextgeneration depot management solution that digitally connects the port with container depots across Singapore.

iBOX is further integrated with SmartBooking for seamless data exchange, enabling better truck visibility for enhanced efficiency between logistics facilities and container depots, two major nodes in container transportation.
The SmartBooking initiative is supported by Enterprise Singapore (ESG), Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), and Smart Nation and Digital Government Office (SNDGO).
GREEN ACCOLADE
MPA was recognised for its decarbonisation efforts in 2020 with an environmental award.
This is the third consecutive time that MPA has been certified as an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Port Services Network (APSN) Green Port.
Quah Ley Hoon, chief executive of MPA, said: “In Singapore, we see opportunities to grow the industry in a greener and more sustainable way. We will continue to work closely with our stakeholders and partners, to reduce the impact of port activities on the environment.”
The Green Port Award System (GPAS) programme is a green evaluation system for ports in the APEC region developed by APSN with the endorsement of the APEC forum. The programme promotes the sustainable development of ports in the Asia-Pacific region.

SUSTAINABILITY FOCUS
In 2020, MPA undertook a series of sustainability initiatives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the Port of Singapore. Notably, MPA established a S$40m Maritime GreenFuture Fund for research, testing and adoption of low-carbon technologies. MPA also embarked on efforts to enable the Port of Singapore to supply LNG as a marine fuel.
In addition, MPA established the Future Fuels Port Network with international partners to collectively drive the research and development of clean marine fuels across participating ports in support of industry decarbonisation.
