ANNUAL REPORT 2019

WE ARE THE SPACE FOR GENERATIONS TO TRANSFORM PUERTO RICO

BOARD OF DIRECTORS* We have spent 10 years building a network of young professionals committed to a sustainable, supportive and participatory Puerto Rico. When we started, we were a small group of university students looking to learn ways to contribute to the advancement of Puerto Rico. Today we are a network of lawyers, journalists, doctors, teachers and professionals leading change in their respective fields. MPA's presence is felt in the third sector: 7 out of 10 PARACa graduates work in the public sector. We lead efforts on community development, environmental conservation, human rights, government oversight and economic development. In 2019 we laid the foundation for our life project in the next decade: empowering the MPA membership to transform Puerto Rico. We participated in fellowships such as the Global Social Impact House, Independent Sector and Hispanics in Philanthropy. We established alliances with the media to make the voice of young leaders visible. We call on our graduates and collaborators to propose solutions at the Change Agents Summit. The next decade is promising. Our civic action laboratory #EnAcción is the next link in the chain to mobilize solutions to the challenges Puerto Rico faces. We will turn the MPA network into a community of change agents, and together we will build the Puerto Rico we need. We are pumped up with the change that’s coming and we’re counting on you to join us to make it happen. Alejandro Silva Díaz, Executive Director Rauluy Santos Collado, President

“We are YOUTH who decided to make of PUERTO RICO our LIFE PROJECT, and we’re looking for peers who want the same.”

To transform Puerto Rico, we must work at it. Our members actively work to ensure the rights of the deaf community, conserve the environment, encourage entrepreneurship, and combat corruption. 70% of our fellows are currently active in a social initiative for Puerto Rico. Citizen engagement and civic action are the method for a generation of leaders to transform Puerto Rico.

THE POWER OF

Summon leaders

We make visible and ignite dialogue on the challenges that Puerto Rico faces to attract young citizens committed with Puerto Rico. We challenge them to answer the call of social responsibility to address and propose solutions.

Mobilize their will

Our meetings, dialogues, internships and groups are practical spaces for citizens to move to take action. At MPA we channel the interest of young people to participate so that it translates into productive action.

Execute solutions

When people take action, they manage to change the conditions in which they live. The PARACa fellowship connects professional development with social contribution, while #EnAcciรณn generates group spaces to solve collective problems. Our participants advance community reconstruction projects coordinate entrepreneurial projects design workshops to make violence and risks for disadvantaged populations visible, create community tutoring programs, and develop greenhouses for the environmental conservation.

“Citizen engagement transforms thought into action through the fight for an equitable and inclusive Puerto Rico.” -Andrea Rosario, PARACa 2019

CHANGE For 10 years we have built a network of young change agents, ally entities and followers. Puerto Rico needs a new generation of leaders to respond to the call to organize and promote the solutions that it needs. For our 10th anniversary we called on our network to unite wills and prepare proposals on 5 urgent issues and determine the role we would play in them. This summit marked the starting point of the transformation of our network into a community of change agents who dedicate their life projects to Puerto Rico.
