Carta de bienvenida | Welcome letter

E

l 2014 comienza desandar sus últimos kilómetros y desde Andes Líneas Aéreas podemos dar por descontado que hemos recorrido este año transportando miles de sueños, concretando negocios y

reuniendo amigos o familias en distintos puntos de nuestra geografía.

Con diciembre a cuestas y el fin del año a la vuelta de la esquina, es tiempo de balances, proyectos y agradecimientos. En este sentido, desde estas líneas no podemos terminar el 2014 sin darles las gracias a todos los que forman la gran familia de esta aerolínea, y todos aquellos que mes a mes han confiado en nosotros.

No obstante, y aunque el año esté cerrando sus puertas, no todo es brindis o la llegada de las tan ansiadas como merecidas vacaciones, y en Andes Líneas Aéreas seguimos trabajando para usted.

Al respecto, tenemos el agrado de informarle que continuamos mejorando los servicios y atención pensando siempre en el bienestar del cliente. En este sentido, continuamos como siempre conectando al norte y sur de nuestro país a través de los vuelos regulares que unen las ciudades de Salta con Buenos Aires y Puerto Madryn con el mismo éxito de siempre gracias a su permanente apoyo y elección.

En este camino, es fundamental el trabajo en conjunto y la colaboración con el Gobierno de Chubut, con quienes la estrecha relación potencia la presencia de Andes Líneas Aéreas en suelo chubutense.

014 is nearing its final kilometers and from Andes Líneas Aéreas we can, of course, say that we have carried for many miles people’s dreams, business responsibilities, the meeting up of friends and families throughout our land.

With December at hand and the end of the year in sight, it is time to take stock, consider projects, and to give thanks. In this, we cannot miss the opportunity of thanking all who make up our great family and all those who month after month have put their trust in us.

on muchos los que pierden constantemente sus dispositivos electrónicos. Para todos ellos Motorola lanzó un dispositivo que solucionará el problema que aqueja a los olvidadizos y a millones amantes de la practicidad. El Motorola Keylink se conecta a través de bluetooth con cualquier dispositivo que cuente con la aplicación Motorola Connect, y que además es compatible con otros dispositivos.

A un botón de distancia Keylink cuenta con un botón que, al activarse, hace que el smarthpone emita un sonido para delatar su ubicación, siempre y cuando se encuentre en un radio de 30 metros de distancia. De esta forma, deja de ser necesario ingresar la clave de forma manual, ya que Keylink comprueba que, aún lejos, el que desea desbloquear el celular es el dueño legítimo. Además, también funciona de manera inversa, por lo que si se pierden las llaves pero se tiene el smarthpone cerca, lo único que hay que hacer es desbloquear convencionalmente el celular, y desde allí presionar la opción que localiza al Keylink. Asimismo, por si 30 metros parecen mucha distancia, la aplicación permite desplegar un mapa, donde se exhibirá la ubicación del dispositivo que se trate de localizar.

Batería duradera La batería, por su parte, brinda hasta un año de autonomía, y es resistente a salpicaduras y polvo. El dispositivo energético es fácilmente reemplazable. Como antecedente, Motorola ya había lanzado el Power Pack Micro, un cargador extra para llevar junto a las llaves, y que también ofrecía la función de localización y alerta sonora.

Bubbly Delights What would an end of the year toast be with the drink that is associated with happiness: champagne!

Del francés champagne, es un tipo de vino espumoso elaborado en la región de Champaña, Francia. Se trata generalmente de un vino blanco, aunque también existe el rosado, que se elabora a partir de varios tipos de uva, la mayor parte tintas. Lo que los hace tan especiales son esa mínimas burbujas que se producen por fermentación natural y nunca por el agregado de gas carbónico. Puede hacerse conforme al método champenoise (en su botella) o mediante el método charmat (en tanques).

Pero entendamos algo: según la Denominación de Orígen Controlada sólo pueden llevar el nombre de “champagne”en las etiquetas de estos vinos espumantes a aquellos que se producen en la zona homónima de Francia. Y aunque el método de producción sea el mismo las bodegas deben renombrar a sus vinos como “cava”,”espumante”, “champaña”, o “champán”. Cada uno posee sus características singulares, pero se desprenden del original.

Muchos países protegen los productos que los caracterizan y que sólo se corresponden a una región geográfica o política, con lo que se da en llamar Denominación de Origen -DO- por lo que sólo pueden ser denominados de esta forma lo que sea producido exclusivamente en ese lugar.

Al elegirlos, la característica fundamental para tener en cuenta y observar detalladamente es “la burbuja”. Al servir la copa, ésta abraza el interior.

Luego ocupa el centro de la copa, y se eleva a la superficie en forma constante, cuanto más pequeña sea la burbuja, mejor el espumante. Debe ser fina y suave al paladar.

Para observarlo mejor, es conveniente utilizar copas flauta.

rench champagne is a fizzy wine that is produced in the region of Champaña, France. It is usually a white wine, although sometimes it can be pink, and is made from various kinds of grapes, mostly red ones. What makes them so special are that few bubbles are produced by natural fermentation and never by adding carbonation.

It can be made in accordance with a champenoise method (in its bottle) or by means of the charmat method (in tanks).

But something must be understood: in accordance with the Designation of Controlled Origin it can only carry the name of “champagne” on the label of these sparkling wines when it is produced in the area of that name in France. And even though the production method may be the same in other areas, they must rename the wines as “cava” or “sparkling” champagne. Each one has its own unique characteristics, but it must be separated from the original.

Many countries protect products that are characterized as such as only correspond to a geographic or political region which is called “Difference of Origin—DO—and can only be named in this way and be produced in that place.

The basic characteristic to take into consideration and to carefully observe is the “bubbles”. When served in a cup, it takes hold of the inside. Then it occupies the center of the cup and rises to the surface continuously, the smaller the bubbles, the better the fizz. It must be refined and soft to the palate. To see it best, it is best to use fluted or narrow cups.

onocida como “El valle del silencio”, del lado oriental de las sierras subandinas, justamente donde baja la Puna y aparece la selva de Yungas, en la provincia de Salta, se encuentra Santa Victoria Oeste. Declarado Lugar Histórico en 1975, dista 118 kilómetros de La Quiaca y 105 kilómetros de Yavi (Jujuy), por un serpenteante y espectacular camino de cornisa.

nown as “The valley of silence”, on the eastern side of the subandinas mountains, where the Puna goes down and Yunga forest appears, in Salta province lies Santa Victoria Oeste. Declared an Historic Place in 1975, it is 118 kilometers from La Quiaca and 105 kilometers from Yavi (Jujuy), and it is reached by a twisting and spectacular cornice road.

Un pueblo encantado

A charming people

Este pueblo de hermosos alrededores se encuentra a 2500 metros sobre el nivel de mar, rodeado de cultivos y árboles, entre los que llaman la atención los nogales, ascendiendo desde la Puna hacia el Este, hacia la Sierra de Santa Victoria -que forma el límite oriental de esta altiplanicie y a su vez funciona como separación entre las provincias de Jujuy y Salta-, y comenzando el descenso hacia la selva.

Se trata de un típico pueblo de montaña, enmarcado por el paisaje multicolor de los cerros circundantes, rodeado de verdes cultivos y bañado por arroyos, con sus casas sobre la falda de la montaña.

Para adaptarse a lo irregular del suelo el pueblo está disperso entre la zona del Bajo, con casas a la orilla del río La Huerta. Luego el sector medio, donde se emplazan la iglesia, la plaza, el municipio, la gendarmería y demás construcciones importantes. Finalmente, en lo más alto, los callejones son muy angostos y empinados.

These beautiful environs are found at an altitude of 2,500 meters above sea level, surrounded by farms and trees, among which those that catch our attention are the walnut trees, going up from the Puna to the east, toward the hills of Santa Victoria—that form the eastern boundary of this high plains area and serve as the border between Jujuy and Salta—beginning their descent to the forests.

It is a typical mountain town, characterized by a multicolored landscape of the surrounding hills, with green farms, and bathed by streams with houses on the skirts of the mountains.

To adapt to the irregular land, the town is dispersed around the area, with houses on the sides of the La Huerta River. Then the mid-sector, where the church is, along with the town square, the municipal buildings, the police, and the rest of the important structures. Finally, at the highest point, the streets are narrow and steep.

Es aquí por donde se ingresa al pueblo cuya calle se va ensanchando hasta desembocar en la Plaza central. Allí se destaca la iglesia Santa Victoria Virgen y Mártir de Jesús Cristo está ubicada en el lado más alto de la pequeña plaza, dándole escala y resaltando el espacio urbano público. Es de una sola nave, posee y gruesos muros de adobe.

Como es común ver en otros poblados de montaña (Iruya entre otros) sus calles suelen ser angostas y empinadas, y cuentan con acequias centrales o pequeños canales para el desague de las fuertes lluvias veraniegas. Debido al ancho de las mismas y a su topografía es casi imposible ascender en automóvil por lo que los caballos, o mejor aún las mulas y las llamas, siguen siendo un medio de transporte más que valioso.

El pueblo es cabecera del departamento y, como otros de la zona, tuvo un importante papel en los hechos de las Guerras de la Independencia en el Alto Perú. La gente que vive en el lugar tiene una muy antigua tradición con valiosas expresiones de culturas mestizas e indígenas de los grupos denominados “collas”.

The town is headed by the state and as in other areas, had an important role in the war for Independence in Peru. The people live in a place that has an ancient tradition with rich expressions of mestiza and indigenous cultures from groups termed “collas” (high plains native people).

14 |Salta girse al oeste, pasando por Abra de Lizoite. Este accidente orográfico constituye el límite interprovincial (Salta - Jujuy) y recién se está en territorio departamental. El trayecto La Quiaca - Santa Victoria insume un promedio de cuatro horas por camino de cornisa, donde la altura y la belleza de los paisajes son una constante. De pronto, las pircas angostan aún más el camino y se cruza el portal del pueblo. Es la señal de que se llegó a destino.

En el trayecto se alcanzan varios hitos importantes como el Abra de Lizoite (cuya altura sobre el nivel del mar supera a los 4500 metros), el Abra de Rota (a 4411metros) y el Abra Colorados.

Siempre hay que tener en cuenta que en todos los casos el tránsito está supeditado a las condiciones climáticas y el estado de los caminos, siendo habituales las interrupciones en el período de lluvias de verano.

Pero cuando el frío azota las vegas y arroyos ubicados a más de 4000 metros de altura se congelan haciendo peligroso el avance sobre el agua congelada que puede estar sobre el camino.

Son varios los poblados o caseríos que se encuentran en el camino y si bien a algunos de ellos se llega en vehículo (La huerta, Papachacra, Rodeo Pampa, Abra de Santa Cruz, Vizcachaní, Acoyte, Pucará, El Puesto, La Falda, Punco Vizcana, Cañaní, Lizoite, Bº El Carmen y Mecoyita) quedan muchos otros a los que se llega después de trayectos a lomo de mula (La Soledad, El Mezón, San Felipe, Hornillos, Campo La Paz y San José del Aguilar). El departamento de Santa Victoria Oeste es entonces un destino de pueblos ocultos, vegetación variada y pobladores con una muy antigua tradición de expresiones culturales mestizas e indígenas.

Los conciertos de rock y folklore en parque Roca, las actividades para chicos, el autocine en el Rosedal y las playas porteñas son algunas de las iniciativas para paliar el calor en la metrópoli.

Buscando sombras En medio de shoppings, edificios altísimos –modernos y antiguos- y miles de comercios de todo tipo y color, Buenos Aires y su gente respiran a través de sus espacios verdes. Cada barrio tiene el suyo así que siempre hay un lugar para sentarse un rato y descansar, leer un buen libro, tomarse un café o unos mates, hacer deporte o simplemente dejarse estar, con los pies desnudos en el pasto.

sperando contribuir a las estrategias de conservación para las ballenas Francas del Sur y su hábitat, un equipo de investigadores de Argentina, Brasil y Estados Unidos colocaron en el mes de octubre pasado transmisores satelitales de última generación en cinco ballenas de Península Valdés. Los transmisores ya están brindando información sobre la localización de estos animales que permitirá conocer las rutas que siguen hacia sus áreas de alimentación.

Dos semanas después de que se colocaran los transmisores satelitales se observó que las madres con cría estudiadas seguían nadando dentro de las aguas del Golfo Nuevo indicando que aún no habían comenzado su migración anual. Los tres individuos restantes-todos ellos animales jóvenes de más de un año de edad-ya salieron por la boca del Golfo Nuevo y se desplazaban en dirección sudeste a más de trescientos kilómetros de la costa en aguas profundas.

Para ello, la Comisión Ballenera Internacional, de la cual la Argentina es parte, aprobó en el 2012 el Plan de Conservación de la ballena franca austral de la población del Atlántico Sudoccidental que incorpora una serie de líneas de investigación prioritarias tendientes a esclarecer la problemática. Una de ellas es la investigación sobre la localización de las áreas de alimentación y rutas migratorias que utilizan las ballenas francas cuando se alejan de las aguas de la Península.

cómo funciona El trabajo realizado permitió equipar ballenas francas con dispositivos satelitales por primera vez en el Atlántico Sudoccidental. Estos dispositivos comunican la posición geográfica de los animales, con un margen de error de unos pocos kilómetros y dos veces al día, a un satélite que la recibe desde su órbita y la transfiere a nodos de comunicación en tierra. De este modo, de forma remota, se puede seguir la trayectoria de las ballenas a medida que se van acumulando datos puntuales.

Two weeks after the placement of these satellite transmitters it was observed that mothers with young continued swimming within the waters of the Golfo Nuevo and had not yet begun their annual migration. The three remaining individuals -all of these more than a year old—already had left the mouth of the Golfo Nuevo and had headed southeast more than three hundred kilometers from the coast and into deep waters.The information is offered by the Institute for the Conservation of Whales and allows examination of maps for following the whales.

A pesar de los innumerables testimonios, escritos, investigaciones y numerosos descubrimientos, los historiadores creen y han fijado la aparición en una fecha indeterminada de la prehistoria, posiblemente situada en la etapa conocida como Paleolítico Superior o Sumeria, en el año 10.000 A.C.

Son muchos los que coinciden que el origen histórico del brebaje se sitúa en Bélgica en el siglo XII, aunque ya los egipcios mucho antes habían elaborado bebidas fermentando cereales.
