the Lonely Longhorn
LaVonna Peterson
Well, the name of my book is “Rusty Tin the Lonely Longhorn.” You are probably wondering why I called it that. It’s interesting how you can be so lonely when things change and circumstances are different. It is normal to get lonely once in a while. Feeling blue when you miss who you have been with, or where you lived is normal too. I missed my momma and other friends when my life changed. Then I met my roping friends. Then my life changed again. I missed them cowboys, but met Grandma Farm. My black cow friends come and go also. I think you have to just get out there and investigate new opportunities and make new friends. It might take a while to adjust but that’s OK. When you meet new friends sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn’t. Like me, I don’t think I will ever be friends with that old badger! But I have learned to get along with him because the pasture is his home too!
A special “Thank you!” to the following people for the photos used in my book: Merissa Anderson, DeeAnne Johnson, Tina McMannis, Brandy Nelson, Jenni Peterson, Karen Peterson, Shelby Rinker, and other friends. And another special “Thank you!” to Grandma Farm’s friend Cindy Pressnall for “taking the bull by the horns” and completing this project!
Seems like when I really start getting lonely, feeling bad because things change, missing my friends, all of a sudden, I will hear trucks and trailers in the pasture. Of course, I go see what is going on. The trailers unload and there are animals! Oh, wow! There is always a lot of black cows! I have learned that when the weather starts getting colder my friends the cows come to visit. It takes a while for me to adjust to them being around. I’m always glad to see them and it keeps me from being lonely, but they do get annoying. They like my space and my good eating spots! However, they do share their own food with me.
